I needed my washing machine repaired due to leaking from the back of the machine. Jim came out and gave me an estimate in the $300 range. He did not provide a written estimate, business card or any documentation. I desperately needed this fixed as my house is on the market and didn't think about it. He required a $200 down payment to order the part. I didn't hear anything for days. I texted him. He said the part would arrive in 4-5 days. 5 days later I texted him again. He said he'd figure out where the part was and let me know. Didn't hear anything so started texting him every other day. It's been 2.5 weeks. He told me yesterday the part is at the distributor, he thinks, but hasn't picked it up yet. THEN he told me he'd have to charge me more because he injured himself and has to hire someone to help him. WHAT?!? I told him that wasn't acceptable to add on to the agreed price and he should have considered what would happen if he couldn't perform the agreed to job. I then asked him to send me the part and the remainder of the down payment. He told me he would try to get the part to me by next week but couldn't guarantee and would charge me for additional shipping. Then he told me he couldn't cut a check for the remainder of the money until the middle of November! Jim is a poor business man, lacks integrity and I'm doubting I will see the part I paid for or the remainder of the $200. I ended up calling Lowes and scheduling a repair man through them. I generally like to support small businesses but when I'm cheated out of my money, charged more, not communicated with, and then not refunded when the job cannot be performed at the agreed amount, I have a big problem!

Jim arrived, and in ten minutes diagnosed that it needed a brand new pump for a total cost of $320. He said that he would discount the $54 cost of his service call if he installed the the new pump (and motor). He did not provide a written estimate, nor did he break down the cost of the new pump and the installation. My husband was able to repair the dishwasher by taking apart the pump assembly and cleaning it. He also found that the retail price of a brand new pump is about $35. . .making the labor and additional parts for what would have been a fairly simple job almost $300. Jim did not spend the time to properly diagnose the problem, and his estimate for fixing it was exoribitant. . . Thank goodness my husband checked it out himself.

Jim came in and let us know it was a better unit than many of the newer
ones. He then fixed it within an hour, and told us we should keep it.
We did!
This is our second time in using Jim, and we always recommend him to all our friends and neighbors.

After finding Jim's name on Angie's list, we placed call to him.  He arrived promptly the next morning to do the job.  He quickly confirmed the problem with our washing machine, and he replaced the broken part.  He explained what had occurred.  We enjoyed meeting Jim; he was personable and professional.  We certainly would call Jim again for repairs to any appliance in our home.

Jim did a return visit the same day to finish the job after I confirmed there was power to the electrical outlet. He replaced the door switch and finished the job in a few minutes. Jim is very professional and was very easy to work with.

He was very nice, punctual, and did a great job. I thought the price was high but it was good service. He knew what the problem was over the phone.

After leaving a voicemail for him, Jim called me back the following day and explained a way I might be able to fix the problem with my washing machine myself. Unlucky with the tip, I called him right back to schedule a repair visit for the folling day. He showed up when promised, and he quickly replaced the troubled valve. The cost was fair, and his work was fine. I will use Jim's Appliance Repair again if I ever have the need.

I was so glad I used Jim to repair my refrigerator. It  had gradually stopped cooling to the point that I was about to lose everything in it. I called Jim on a Sunday afternoon and he was able to diagnose what was wrong just from my description over the phone. He came first thing Monday morning and was nice enough to call and give me a heads up that he was on the way.  He already had the part I needed so it didn't take long to repair and I was able to save most of my food.
He also fixed a couple of broken off light bulb bases that were stuck in my microwave above my stove.
He was prompt, professional and seemed like an all around nice guy.

Jim returned my phone call promptly and arrived within the hour. He identified a simple problem and fixed it, and offered some advice on avoiding some potential problems. Only charged for the visit. Knowledgeable, experienced and efficient service.

When I spoke to Jim over the phone and described what was wrong, he was immediately familiar with the problem.  He came by later that day and discovered upon checking the model number of my refrigerator that he did not have the part on his truck.  He went to a supply shop and got it, returned in about an hour, and completed the repair.  He was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional.  I would definitely recommend him.

Jim was very straight forward and arrived earlier than expected which was ok because I wanted it fixed as soon as possible. He was very professional and explained exactly what was wrong and had it fixed within 20 minutes. His price was also half of what I had previously paid for the same repair.

My washing machine stopped working, and I called Jim's Appliance after consulting Angie's List. I left a message and Jim called me back right away to set an appointment to do the repairs. Unfortunately, Jim was an hour late, and did not call me until I called him to find out where he was. When he came to my house, though, he quickly figured out what was wrong with the washer and repaired it. He apologized for being late and knocked 10% off the price. He did a very good job, and I would hire him again even though I was annoyed by his tardiness.

My 7 yr old Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling. Jim came out the next day and immediately diagnosed the problem and replaced the relay switch. He was very prompt and courteous.

We called Jim and he responded the same day, within a few hours. He showed up on time and performed the work. He was pleasant and professional. We had told him we suspect the lid switch was broken, so "diagnosis" was not really needed. He replaced the lid switch, which took less than 5 minutes. He reattached the new switch using wire nuts and tucked the wire back up into the housing, outside the basket. This seems odd, when the lid switch has an actual plug on it, the wire for which likely should have been run up into the back panel of the machine and plugged in (ie, rather than having an exposed wire juncture fastened with wire nuts in the housing of the machine, but outside the basket itself, where it seems it could be exposed to water). In fairness, this was the way it was on the old switch, so Jim simply followed the previous repair person's suspect methods. My big gripe is the cost. The service call ($40) should have easily covered the less than 5 minutes it took to replace the switch. I found the part itself on the Internet for $26.13. Jim charged $70 for "replace lid switch." Is this part cost + labor? Labor? It seems the less than 5 minutes it took should have been covered under the $40 service call, so maybe it was all part cost? I understand his need to charge more for the part than what he paid for it (eg, shipping, storage, etc), but nearly triple the cost of what I found available to the average Joe? Serious price gouge is all I can say to describe it.

I called Jim because he was the first person to pop up on our Angie's list inquiry, he also had the most positive comments. I didn't get in touch with him right away so I left message and called the second person on our inquiry. It was a Friday morning and our refrigerator and freezer were out so I really wanted to have someone here before the weekend. The second person I called said he would come out to diagnose for $30 and he would call before he came. Then Jim called back. He said that based on the description I had given him it sounded like the relay on the compressor. He was so honest and helpful over the telephone that I was ready to cancel the other appointment and have Jim come over. I tried to call and cancel the other appointment but got no answer and when the guy called to give me a heads up on his arrival he said he would be here in 5 minutes so I let him go ahead and come over. According to this guy it was the compressor which was under warranty. He said I should call the Maytag Repair dept and let them look at it because he didn't want to charge me $600 for a compressor if it was under warranty and then he said to call him back if I still needed him and he would credit the $30 toward a repair if necessary. I called Maytag and the compressor is under warranty but they wanted $75 to diagnose it and couldn't come until Monday. Since Jim was so nice the first time I spoke with him I decided to call him back and see what he thought about the other person's advice. He said he felt sure it was not the compressor and that it was just the relay and asked that I go ahead and let him take a look at it. I happily agreed. He was at the house within an hour and...HE WAS RIGHT! He replaced the relay and the fridge came right on! He didn't even complain about the dust behind my fridge. Thanks Jim for the excellent service, you can bet that we will call you in the future for any appliance work!

I called Jim on a Sunday when the fridge wasn't cooling. He called me back the same day and talked through the problem with me. By the time we ended the phone call, he was pretty sure what the problem was (a fuse). He came on time the next day, replaced the part, and the fridge is back in action.
