It took months for a design and then when we finally did get one, it was nothing like what we asked for.
"this customer didn't realize that a 3-d drawing is a 3-d drawing. that is what she paid for and what she received. her remodel was very bizarre and she wanted to incorporate the closets across the hall from the kitchen. I wasn't interested in taking on her project at the time, and I think this infuriated her. she had the computer layout and 3-d rendering, and could have used that to shop her kitchen remodel project with other contractors. I can only assume that is the reason for the review because I wasn't going to take on her project. I can't spread myself too thin and keep the quality of work that I have."
"the unfortunate thing is that all the kitchen designers use the same software, 20/20 technologies, so the pics are going to be the same if I do them for you, or if you use Home Depot, Lowes or any other kitchen designer. don't understand what the customer was searching for because he received what he paid for."
"I wish that some people would at least tell the truth. when I finished the design for this customer, I email ed her and asked if she would like me to come back out to her home, or email her the design and pics. she stated that she wanted me to send them to her email address which she provided, so I did. then I get this review? I'm sorry that I did my job. I wish her luck with her remodel, and I hope that she watches who she uses because there are a lot of scam artists out there. she would be better off using an Angie's List service provider!"
"it is unfortunate that some people purchase things and don't read what they are getting. this customer paid for a consult and 3-d drawings. it is true she lived in east Brandon, and wanted me to travel there during the afternoon rush hour traffic. I wanted to preferably meet on a Saturday, but she stated her dad wanted to be there since he would ultimately pay for everything, and he lived in weeki-watchi, (about 1.25 hours away from Brandon). so I did meet with the customer during the week, and we discussed her kitchen a bit. then she told me she wouldn't be doing the kitchen for quite some time, but wanted quotes on her two bathrooms. I measured the bathrooms, and then I sent her the estimates for those projects. I then sent her the drawings that she had paid for, and I had already consulted with her about the kitchen, and gave her my thoughts. since I was so busy at the time, I politely declined to bid on her kitchen and told her with the design she could shop the estimate around, but I didn't have the time to put together a bid on her kitchen which would probably be done in the future, but who knows when. she became very irate and then threatened me with bad reviews and marks. it only took her 2 months to respond with her bad review. I guess she wasn't in a hurry to write me up. I never heard her mention anything about the bathrooms which were her real priority, and in which I had given her bids. my thoughts were if she was just wanting estimates for her kitchen now with no intention of getting it done, I didn't have the time to dedicate to giving her a fair bid. I could have told her $50,000 and lied, but that is not me. I tried to be honest, but it just doesn't work all the time. hopefully she gets her remodeling done to her satisfaction."
"I would like to extend a great big THANK YOU! to all the Angie's List members who have used our services, or even read our reviews. May God bless all of you in the new year (2014), keep everyone safe and healthy, and may all people live up to their fullest potential. We at Jamco Construction love Angie's list!"
The work was done very quickly and very professional. Any issues we had with the job were taken care of very promptly. For instance, we noticed at one point that a hole appeared in the wall in our bedroom, which is adjacent to the kitchen. The hole was patched and painted without us even having to bring it up.
If I had to bring up a negative point, there were a couple of instances where some minor style choices were made without our input. For instance, we might have used higher-end trim around the can lights. I know these choices were made so that the job would be done quickly, which it was. My wife and I are very laid back and it wasn't a big deal, but I could see some people getting bent out of shape about it.
Overall, it was a very positive experience. They were always on time, and if Michael said something would get done, it got done. We hope to remodel our bathroom next year and I'll definitely be giving Michael and Jamco a call.
UPDATE: Everything Michael and Jamco added in their response is 100% accurate and we are very grateful for their help, their flexibility, and their professionalism. Highly recommended!
"It's interesting that when you have a couple with much common sense how much great things can come about! What (member name removed) failed to tell you is this, 1) Lowes was originally committed to do this job and backed out at the last moment, leaving the Centrones' in a pickle 2) I was able to match Lowe's price, and even upgrade their granite countertops from the original choice 3) We had several issues with the install that Lowe's didn't discover, but Jamco Construction took car of at no additional cost and 4) (member name removed) was trying to paint the interior of the home himself, and realized how much fun it was. He then asked for a price to paint the living room, dining room, kitchen and hallways, but since he was an Angie's List member and was so nice to give us the opportunity to do his FHA203K rehab, we painted the rooms for free! All he had to do was purchase the paint and he got my discount on top of that as well. So if you're looking for quality kitchen remodeling from an honest, hard working contractor, you know who to call, especially if you are an Angie's List member."
"the work done on this Angie's List customer was done thru the FHA203K program, in which Jamco Construction is a certified contractor. The customer agreed to the items needed to be fixed, a roof, a new a/c unit, painting, drywall and some minor other things, and they were done in an expedited manor. The homeowner was very pleasant to work for, and very appreciative of our quick and great work. This shows how easy it is to get things done when all parties are on the same page and understand what needs to be done. I would do more work for this customer anytime he calls!"
"i would like to continually acknowledge that it is soooo easy to work with people who are reasonable and intelligent. remodeling in any capacity is usually a mystery because you cannot see what's behind walls, ceilings and floors until you rip them out. in this case, the homeowner knew that the lighting was poor and it was hard to move around the bed that was left in the room. but because we were on the same page and wanted the same expert results, they were easily obtained! another satisfied angie's list member. thanks angie's list!!"
I would definitely use them again without any hesitation.
"It was easy to go out of my way and rearrange my schedule for Member and his wife because they were very nice people and easy to get along with. When i come across customers as such it becomes pleasant to actually do something nice for them, and as a result his wife was very happy to get the dining room back in shape for his party. I didn't think I could pull it off but i stayed late and finished for them. The fact that they are Angie's list customers also influenced me just a little! Happy Birthday Member, hope that you have many, many more!"
