I don't usually provide reviews but I felt Alex Baez, the primary owner of Jacob's Cabinets needed recognition. First, this is a very difficult industry to land a contractor with confidence. So many fly-by-nights, misleading ads and poor follow-up from the contractors offer little confidence in choosing the right professional for the Job. Alex runs a small shop in the Town & Country area and has limited staff. This smaller staff led to the most problems throughoutt the 7-9 months he worked on our job. which was expected to be more like 4-5 months. However, as we became familiar with Alex and his company we realized we hired a caring, ethical and talented cabinetmaker who sincerely was proud of his work. The drawback because of the smaller set-up in his company and how thin he was spread is that appointments were often cancelled or delayed and emails/texts/voice mails not answered as he set his own priorities. However, our own family's change of plans were ALSO accommodated by him, but in the light of having to work on other jobs during the 'breaks' significantly delays occurred in him getting back to our job. With the above reservations said, at the end of the job, we received a beautiful kitchen, custom constructed with unique and special details, along with adaptations(from changing our minds) along the way, which some companies don't tolerate---which we are happy with. Alex was very trustworthy and we had no concern of working in our house without us hawking over him. He also is well connected and gave us suggestions for plumbers, dry-wallers and granite fabricators, all of which we used within the job. His pricing wasn't the cheapest but it was very reasonable for custom cabinetry. If you want a pleasant, ethical and talented contractor who will be like a friend , throughout the process and don't mind a little longer time than the 'box-cabinet' companies you should be pleased with Jacob's Cabinets.
