Started out well. He and his uncle came out and looked at the two trees to be cut down. He gave me an estimate of $370.00. Since he did not do stump grinding, and I could only get $300.00 at one time from the bank teller machine, I offered to pay $300.00 and he accepted. Before any work began, I reiterated what we agreed upon: cut down two palm trees, take debris away. He agreed. Once the two trees were down, he started to saw the trunks. Then, he and his uncle started taking the logs to the street. I told him that our agreement was that he was to take everything away. He explained that by chopping the trunks into pieces, the waste disposal personnel would take the logs. He assured me this would happen, then promised to come back and take the debris if the waste personnel did not. The waste personnel did not take the debris. I called Josh twice. His wife called back the first time, then he called back. Both had the same story. Their story was that since he agreed to take $70.00 off the original estimate, that that meant that he did not have to take the debris away. When I spoke with him I reminded him of our agreement-that for $300.00 he would cut the trees and dispose of the debris. I also told him that before he began any work, I reiterated our agreement and reminded him that he had agreed to such. I told him that if he had a problem with disposing of the debris for the price we agreed upon prior to him beginning the job, then that would have been the time he should have told me that he was not going to dispose of the debris. That way, we could have either re-negotiated, or I could have chosen at that time to find another, all-inclusive, tree service. But, he never said a word in dissent. He agreed to do the job for the price. He told me over the phone that yes, he did agree to cut the trees and dispose of the debris for $300.00 but later(after he went home)he found out that to dispose of the debris, he would have to pay the disposal yard. He said that even though he agreed to $300.00, he changed his mind after doing the job, after I had paid him the full price. Since I had already paid him, I thought maybe a compromise would work. I told him that I would dispose of half of the logs if he would come out and dispose of the other half. He agreed. He was supposed to be here Friday and never showed up. I received a muffled message on my answering machine on Saturday from him saying "I've decided not to come." Bottom line: He agreed to perform a service for an agreed price and failed to perform that service. Stay clear of this rip off artist.
