We have been married 36 years, and we have bought and sold 8 houses in 3 different states. Before our dealings with Fuentes and Kreischer Title company, we never had any problems with title companies. We would not recommend Fuentes and Kreischer to anyone, ever, under any circumstances, because the company did not turn over our money, after the closing, and we had to waste much time trying to get our money. What happened? Fuentes and Kreischer received the full amount due from the buyers the day before the closing. Weeks ahead of time, they also received full wiring instructions for sending all of our proceeds to our bank account. In fact, Fuentes and Kreischer repeatedly promised both our realtor and us that our money would be wired on the same morning as the closing. However, when our bank told us in the afternoon of the closing that the money had not arrived, we were told by Fuentes and Kreischer that our money had been sent and that our bank was in error. Fuentes and Kreischer also said that once it wired the funds, it should take only 5 minutes for them to appear in the receiving bank. We kept requesting and checking for several days. Finally, three and a half days after Fuentes and Kreischer should have wired our proceeds, the money finally arrived at our bank. This caused us both to waste time trying to fix the problem and to waste money ? the interest we would have received on the money. We repeatedly had leave work and to inconvenience ourselves ? driving to our bank, personally, on three different occasions and meeting with bank officials, to try to see if the money had been wired, as Fuentes and Kreischer assured us it had. This checking and phoning took about 5 hours out of our professional work days? an uncompensated financial loss caused by Fuentes and Kreischer. Finally, we demanded to speak to the head of the company, Al Kreischer. He admitted that 3.5 days after the money was supposed to have been wired, Fuentes and Kreischer still had not sent it. He explained this Fuentes and Kreischer ?mistake? -- by saying that a Fuentes and Kreischer fax machine was not working. Hence Al Kreischer said that Fuentes and Kreischer was unable to contact the bank that was holding the funds. However, we told Fuentes and Krescher that either a phone call or an email would have sufficed to have the funds transferred. The broken fax was not a plausible excuse, and not the only way of communicating. We also suspect that Fuentes and Kreischer?s not sending the money for 3-4 days, after the closing, may have been an intentional and deliberate way for Fuentes and Kriescher to collect interest on our money ? by holding it in the Fuentes and Kreiser account. After all, four days of 6 % interest on several hundred thousand dollars amounts to several hundred dollars!
