I?ve had two experiences with him. He was recommended by a friend of mine. He listened to what I needed. He is neat and very nice to work with. He offered to pick up my materials at Home Depot so that saved me a trip.
Description of Work: He inspected the electrical wiring in the attic. He installed exterior dawn to dusk lighting. He removed old wiring. He did a whole house electrical inspection.

Fred was able to come and do the work the same day I called him. He came over and solved an ongoing issue I had with a GFCI and then replaced a bunch of regular outlets. Did a great job for a low price.
Description of Work: Fred replaced a bunch of old beige electrical outlets with new white ones.

Description of Work: I originally left a message for Mr. Milliken latre in the evening on 8/31, and when he did not call back, I called again on 9/1. He said that he was about to call me. I described my problem, and he said that it sounded like an easy job. He said that he'd be at my residence by 1:30 PM, and arrived at 1:17 PM, What he thought was goinig to be an easy job, turned out to be a wiring nightmare! But with his experience he was able to find the problem wall socket with the process of elimination. It took this man 3 hours to do this "simple" (not) job, and the cost to me was extremely reasonable. I will be calling Fred Milliken if I ever need an electrician again! he was professional, yet friendly. Super person.......super job.

A handyman friend and I had spent several hours trying to wire up a new light fixture so it ran off of an existing ceiling fan switch. We got it all mounted but couldn't get the wiring to work right with the switch. Fred came out a few hours after we called. He had no problem crawling around in the attic and wiring everything up correctly. He worked carefully and skillfully and gave us a fair price. It's hard to find a reasonably priced, skilled electrician and we felt lucky to have discovered Fred Milliken Electric (thank you Angies List!).
Description of Work: Hooked up a new light fixture to an existing ceiling fan switch.

His price and professionalism is great. He is a great guy. I feel like I can talk to him, he is a real person, but most importantly his prices are not astronomical like some other people I got estimates from.
Description of Work: I had him replaced a ceiling fan and light cans and dimmers throughout the house. He also did some out door lighting for me as well.

I would like to first start off by saying that before I Found FRED MILLIKEN ELECTRIC I had called at least ten different companies for just the labor of installing three light cans that needed to be attached to dimmer switches. Before Fred I received rediculous quotes ranging From 700-300 dollars for just labor, Not to mention that my wall would have to be ripped open to fish the line properly, because I live on the bottom floor of a condo with No attic access!!! I contacted Fred on my second day of searching and hired him immediately for a quote of 150 dollars, which is right around the price I thought the labor should cost. Fred arrived at my unit, on time. Not only was he professional, he was extremely patient and made sure that I understood everything that needed to be done, he even avoided my walls needing to be torn open by simply knotching it (he made a small hole instead of ripping open anything). The incision was not even noticeable. He made sure he did the job correctly and made it a point to let me know that if I had ANY problems to call him. My over all experience with Fred is A++ his prices are unbeatable and I know I've found my electrician for years to come. Before he left I had him quote e for the remainder of the work in my home, which was also beyond reasonable, I look forward to his serives in the future.
Description of Work: Fred installed three light cans which needed to be connected to two dimmers, in my master bathroom which I am renovating. He also installed a new light switch. (Please Note that I had Purchased the items before Fred's arrival).

Electric water heater was not heating water. With my admittedly limited knowledge and a voltage/continuity tester, it appeared to me there was nothing wrong with the heating elements and thermostats in the water heater itself, but electricity was somehow not getting from the circuit breaker to the water heater. That's when you stop trying to do it yourself and call a professional. I checked Angie's List to find a company close to my condominium in Temple Terrace, and Fred Milliken was able to come out the same day I called. After thoroughly troubleshooting every possible cause, he confirmed there must be a break or short in the line from the circuit breaker to the water heater's junction box. This kind of thing is really aggravating, because to find out exactly why, you would have to literally tear up a large portion of the wall to trace the wire and find out where the break, short, or mis-routing is. Since the water heater is in the garage and only about five feet away from the circuit breaker box, Fred suggested moving the water heater's junction box on the wall a little closer to the circuit breaker box. Then he could drill through and run new wiring from the circuit breaker through the wall to connect to the junction box, leaving the "dead" wiring in the wall and not having to tear anything up. Took only 15 or 20 minutes and I had hot water again. The price was very reasonable and lower than I had expected. I would definitely recommend Fred Milliken Electric for your electrical jobs in the Tampa/Temple Terrace area.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot loss of power to water heater. Moved water heater's junction box closer to circuit breaker box and re-routed new wiring through wall from circuit breaker to junction box.

I called Fred about 9:00 on n3/19/2010.he told me he might be able to come by around 2 P.M.. He said he would call first. He called around 1P.M. and said he could come then if it was alright with me. He was here at 1:20 P.M. I told him what was going on with the outlet.(The washer kept turning off.)After a couple of minutes he went to the breaker box. Within a minute he found the cause.a loose wire that goes to the breaker for the washer. He was finished in a few minutes. Washer works fine. I ask him he h could give me an estimate for the fluoescent lighting and come back to do it. He said that he could do it while he was there. He was finished in 15 minutes. Everything is working great. I had no clue as to what kind of electrician i would be dealing with, but, Fred was very experienced and polite. He will get all of my Electrical work in the future.
Description of Work: He located the outlet problem in 5 minutes,( wiring in breaker box to outlet was loose causing short and not allowing outlet to work) and repaired it.This wiring was missed by several others that have been out here to fix it. Replaced complete 4 foot strip for Fluorescent lights.

And there was light! He arrived promptly, worked efficiently and methodically, and charged me less than I had anticipated. Fred has installed several fixtures for me over the years, and has been responsive to my urgent calls when I had, or thought I had, a wiring/safety issue. On occasion he has made service calls on short notice. I would have filed reports on Fred years earlier had I realized that I could have "added" him to the List. He was referred to me by a colleague, and I in turn have recommended him to others. I find that Fred is honest, reliable, and his rates are quite reasonable.

Great work, and no problems since he did the work.
Description of Work: Fred has been a consummate professional in numerous times coming to assist us. This particular time he helped us install ceiling fans as well as a couple of other light fixtures and fixed an outlet in one of our rooms. He did this quickly, on our schedule, and the cost was a bargain!
