"In this case, we definitely dropped the ball with your quotes. Due to a personal situation, your sales associate was out of the showroom for a period of time, had some email dialogue with you, then simply forgot to follow up on your quote after he returned. They do have good prices, but based on prior experience, I am afraid to buy from them. The salesman was condescending and unhelpful. I have no idea why my repair person would tell me to go there. I bought a dishwasher from them previously. It was a total lemon, and they were no help at all. In fact, they REFUSED to give me a number to contact the company, even. Am not stopping by here again. I didn't feel welcome, helped, or wanted as a customer.

A couple of weeks ago we were looking to replace the "high efficiency" LG front loading washer and dryer that came with our newly purchased home. Although these were only 3-year old machines, we were most unhappy with the lack of water during wash, the extremely long wash cycles, the mold and mildew collection around the rubber gasket even though we followed preventive instructions exactly, etc. This was the second set of top-of-the-line high efficiency machines we've owned in less than 10 years and we were extremely unhappy with both (the first were Kenmore Elite, top-loading washer and dryer). I had already done a lot of internet research on machines and had decided on the Speed Queen. We do not have a dealer in our city, but were in a neighboring city where we stopped in to look at the models; they gave us a price, but didn't deliver to our town. We returned to Famous Tate and Ron, also in a neighboring town, but they deliver to our area. Once again Ron couldn't have been more helpful -- and honest re: my findings, good and bad, during my internet search. Their prices were slightly higher than what we were quoted at the other place, but I showed him the quote and they matched the price. We purchased the washer and dryer and thus far have done about 6 loads of laundry this first half-day of ownership, about half the time it took me to do the same quantity in my HE machines. They are fabulous! Can't thank Ron enough for all his help with all three of these appliances. We will be replacing all other household appliances in the next couple of years with a major house/kitchen renovation and we will certainly look to return to Ron at Famous Tate. I must add that they have a fabulous, very large showroom loaded with all brands and many models of appliances, including a huge variety of high-end appliances set up in mock kitchen settings. Well worth the drive!

The life-cycle of energy-efficient appliances has decreased over the years and 8-12 years is what's to be expected. You made a good decision in purchasing the extended warranties, which should have kept your out-of-pocket expenses during the coverage. Your Maytag appliances and KitchenAid dishwasher purchased in 2005 were good products, but like anything man-made, are suceptible to defective parts or malfunctions over time. If you are unhappy with the current condition of your Maytag laundry products, I would recommending contacting Maytag Consumer Affairs to let them know.
