Do not use this company. For permitting reasons alone. They book the permit inspection for you but, at least for me, gave me the wrong date. They tell you to wait 8 am to 4 pm in your home even though the inspector gives a smaller window to them of only two hours. I waited for 8 hours for no one to show and then the next day get a call from an inspector saying he’s on his way. They also need the inspection done so they started texting me at 2 am about getting the inspection done. It’s a complete disregard for the company and strongly suggest using someone else. I did it through Home Depot and that is a poor choice. I strongly suggest avoiding them.

Home Depot Water heater Installation Contractor...Unfortunitially...because I've had good experiences with Home Depot contractors before.  This contractor has a "Bait & Switch" sales process.  After choosing a product with a plumber at Home Depot that would replace my existing WH, the salesman tried to up-sell me a different WH and when I said no, they were going to charge me a "$75 "Piping Fee" for a $2 part.

If you need a water heater from Home Depot, then you're going to have to go through Delta Mechanical.    That's a lot of power for one contractor.   With power comes arrogance and this customer received a boat load of it today.

Please be aware that the quotes that you are given from Home Depot/ Delta Mechanical in the morning might not be the same if you call in the afternoon.  I experienced exceptionally poor customer service today  and rather than remedy my distrust and frustration, the manager  N* amplified it.

Visiting a Home Depot in my town, I saw the amount of a heater similar to the one that I needed, I saw the price of installation too.  When I called to arrange purchase and installation,  I was surprised to hear a quote nearly $300 higher than what I expected.    I understood about $100 of it, because the unit I wanted was different than the one I priced in the store.   Okay.    But where did the other costs come from?     Well, there are permits.    And peripheral gadgets which may or may not be needed.   All of those little things amounted to about $300 more than my expectations and it amounted to my suspicions that I was being scammed.

I did not order the item.

But I need a water heater and currently, Home Depot is the place to get them in my town.      When I called Home Depot back, I was transferred to Delta Mechanical, gave broad details about what I needed,  I gave my zip code and street name and in return I got attitude and I got a quote that was even higher than the one I had received just an hour or so before.

To be fair, I  balked when this second operator asked me my street number and I didn't provide it to her.   Who knew that Delta Mechanical had to check home records?  I didn't understand . . . would my neighbors be charged a different amount because their house number was higher than mine?      I  just wanted this process to be over and I would have provided the details when it came to payment and installment.      When I told this second operator that she provided a higher permit cost than  that one I received just an hour before, I waited for an explanation.   After a hold, the operator came back and more confusion ensued because she told me her records showed me as residing in another state!

Of course, this made me question the validity of the quote even more.

After another frustrating hold,  a manager told me that I should understand that the operator with the higher quote was busy and her phones were ringing off the hook.   This manager told me that I must understand that this second operator deals with the entire state of Florida and the first operator with the lower quote knew my area so she didn't attach some unneeded add-ons.   This manager told me to listen while she explained the discrepancy.   This manager listened to recordings of both phone calls and said that I should understand that I sounded frustrated and that I had questioned the prices.     Yes.  This manager did get that I was frustrated but she wanted me to be quiet while she explained why I should not be frustrated.    This manager told me that as a customer, I should appreciate that a technician would discard any  unnecessary add-on costs at installation.

Well, this customer doesn't appreciate that.     This customer is still frustrated.   This customer feels nickled and dimed and this customer does not trust Delta Mechanical.  Or their quotes.       I realize that Delta Mechanical has an exclusive contract with Home Depot. so because of this operator and that manager and their questionable quotes and awful customer service,   I am writing a formal complaint to Home Depot and spending my money elsewhere.
