"not my customer"
to pay him extra for the time he spent but he did not want any more than the amount quoted. In the end he did accept a small token of my appreciation.
Great guy with a pleasant personality and dedicated to doing the job right.
in hallway. David is a very good painter. He is detail oriented, was meticulous and left no trace that any painting had been done.
Also, as an aside, he is sincere and funny. Home projects and repairs/renovations are NOT fun! He made is seem painless, he really did. It was a pleasure having him in our home. We also trust him implicitly. He was there in our home working hard when we were not able to be there. GREAT guy.
I had reached out to other handymen who quoted me more than twice the price to replace my front door and never seemed available to do the work. David was able to install the new door, trim and brick molding just a day after coming by to give me an estimate. It looks great and I will definitely call him for help with my next project.
- He lied about his experience. He does not know how to lay plaster correctly.
- He skipped multiple areas of the ceiling in order to save on materials when we had agreed he would re-coat the entire surface.
- He kept the leftover materials that I paid for.
- He left numerous discolored areas, bare patches and 2 stains in the final work.
- He didn't mask properly, splashing plaster on the crown molding which will now have to be cleaned and repainted.
- His labor rate for himself and his assistant, allowing for materials, worked out to $50/hr. Much to high for this area.
I have to say in all honesty, there is really no reason to hire David Rodriguez at all.
"The entire ceiling was plastered as agreed, some of the other 2 coats that were on it did not come off, causing the new material to discolor. He knew before the job started that it would have to be painted. Because this ceiling had so many coats the new plaster dried at different rates so the texture looks not exactly the same."
First of all he arrives on time, or you get a phone call. He works a full day, unless of course, the work requires the day end early, like paint or texture drying. He moved the door going into the house from the garage (bad location when my house was built). David came and did an assessment to make sure it could be done, got the specification for the type of door and provided solid recommendations that would be suit the needs of myself and the house for years to come.
He is honest and direct without offending, willing to explain all the details, and I can trust he will do the job perfectly. It took 2 1/2 days. He matched the texture for the walls almost perfectly (you can never get a perfect match to the original) and I am the only person that would see the difference and I don't even notice it (and I am an A type personality). He left me with a door that looks like it had always been there. Everything was perfectly matching in color and completed. There was a funny gap between the door and hardwood, he found a creative fix and it is perfect, not some "it will do" kind of fix.
I have used David for a few years now and I will continue to do so in the future. I have had to be away from the house while he is working and I never have a concern for my possessions or the condition of the house. He locks up when he leave and leaves a tidy workspace.
The work was performed on a home out of the area. When my husband actually looked at the work, he couldn't believe we actually paid someone to do what was done. I could have done it myself and saved the $180.00. Sad to say, we will not be using him in future projects or repairs.
