They arrived promptly and proceded to clean the drive and prepare it for sealing. They seemed to work well and professionally and were done in about 2 hours. I didn't go over and inspect the work initially because it was still wet. but when my husband came home and saw the job, he was NOT happy.
The driveway looked worse than if we would have just had it coated. The sales pitch given talked about feathering in the patches which infers blended edges--not a half inch lump on the edges. As a matter of fact, Theresa looked at the last patch done with a cut in by another paver and she said they didn't do cut in's because they leave a line; again inferring a nicer, more finished job. At no point did she indicate that it would look patchy, lumpy and very pourous--in other words and quot;stick out like a sore thumband quot;
.
I called Teresa that evening and left a message about our concerns, and then called again the next morning and spoke to Teresa directly. She proceded to tell me that what we got is standard practice in the industry and that she had patched some areas that she did not charge us for. Not knowing the paving business we found out later that a vibrating compactor and not a roller is used on patch jobs. Therefore the patches have about a half inch raised edge on them instead of the and quot;feathering inand quot; to the existing driveway as we were lead to believe we would see, and the asphalt crumbles along the edges of the patches as well. I had a couple of other pavers come out after and they agreed that it was a very poor job and quoted what it would take to correct it.
Teresa said she would not be able to come out until the next week to address our concerns, so I asked her to call my husband as soon as possible to explain the job to him. It was several days later and several more calls before she finally was able to talk to him. He was going out of town that next week and she said she would take care of it when he got back, but never came back out to look at the job while he was away. We were also going to try to dig up the patches, but she told him she would take care of it when she came back out, but never did. Now they have set up and digging them out will only damage the existing driveway. I tried to contact her while he was gone, but received no reply to my message.
.
When he did return he tried several more times to contact her again. When she finally did return our calls she said she was having some kind of family issue and was unable to get back to us. They did finally return and dig up the patch and fixed it as we originally wanted (see picture) and to our satisfaction..
