I signed up with Denis about 4 years indicating to him that my husband and I were looking for a long-term relationship with whom we could trust to do our yard work. His crew provided quality work during that time period with just a couple of issues which Denis tried to rectify as quickly as he could. HOWEVER, on April 1st of this year - just at the beginning of grass growing season, he sent us a letter that his service would be stopped immediately (no 30-day notice) and he gave us another number to call.
We had been faithful and good paying customers for the past 4 years and I feel that this is a lack of professionalism on his part to cut us off without any 30-day notice. I understand that his business has grown and he wants to be in the more lucrative neighborhoods, but I do feel that he should have provided a 30-day notice or gave us this letter in January when yard services were not needed as much
."Thank you for your review. I completely understand and agree with your concern. I would like to explain a few things you may not be away of. We have been servicing several properties on your street for over 3 years since the development of your community. The 2 customers that live by you and across from you have REQUESTED for us to cut the lawn shorter than we were even though it was against our recommendation. We cut all St Augustine lawns at 4"+ and all of our commercial mowers use a mulch kit and we change the blades every day for a good sharp cut. Your community has St Augustine turf in the front and Bahia turf in the back and yes the Bahia is supposed to be cut shorter. I know the importance of not cutting too short or scalping lawns and we take great pride in not doing so. I am on the Board of Directors for the Florida Landscape Maintenance Association, I have all of my Florida state license and certifications in turf management and best practices, and I have had several articles published in multiple national industry magazines. I am also business partners with one of the largest turf chemical companies in the area. So to all the Angie's List customers reading the member's review, please don't worry, we won't cut your lawn too short unless you request it and want it that way, which unfortunately some customers do. Cutting a lawn too short is the worst thing you can do to any turf. The longer the blades of grass on top, the deeper and stronger the roots are in the ground. Also very important is proper watering, not too much, but enough and applied at the right time of day which is early in the morning before the sun comes up. Most importantly is a good and consistent chemical treatment program for fertilizer, bug control, weed control, and fungus control. So member if you are seeing some lawns in your community that look great and some that don't....it's not because we are cutting them too short, it is because they are not watering properly and/or are not using a good chemical treatment program. Or the homeowner or someone else is cutting the lawn too short. If anyone has any questions or would like a free consultation please call me anytime. Thank you Citrus Park Lawn Care Denis Perry 813-480-8216"
The weekly service meets expectations. I have a rather annoying backyard property where just the edges are maintained (outside the pool enclosure) and getting around it can be a hassle, so I appreciate when they do trim up my crazy confederate jasmine. Another bonus with the weekly service we have is that they trim our all of our trees. They aren't incredibly high, but it is a huge plus not to have a separate tree service contract.
The only semi-negative isn't really an issue, but it seems the start time on my house is now 8am. eee! Not a big deal but sometimes it just feels so early! I expect the mower noises and whatnot, but the shouting to each other at those earlier times - I sort of feel bad for my neighbors :P
All in all - I would definitely recommend this company to friends and neighbors, and am happy to stick with them for the foreseeable future.
scalped by anther company and they remember every time they come. I like that they're in uniform and it's not a strange group of men in dirty clothes walking around the house. Very professional - answer phone calls and emails promptly.
Two years ago, several of our plants were damaged in the freezing weather. Denis knew exactly when was the best time to trim them back in order to save them, which he did and they look terrific today.
If we need references for similar businesses, ie for our sprinkler system, Denis provides references for our use. We see him as a partner with us making our front of our home look beautiful.
"We want to thank you for your business and your feedback. You hired our company to start service 4/1/11 for our premier full service "Annual" program for $140 per month. When we started the property had been neglected and was a mess, which we cleaned up at no charge because we waived the clean up fee since you signed up for the "Annual" program. We provided you with 4 weekly services in April, 5 in May, which you were only charged for 4 and not 5 because you signed up for our "Annual" program, 4 in June, and 4 in July. So in May you received one free week of service because there were 5 weeks in that month. We cleaned up the property to look just as nice as your neighbors, we trimmed the hedges weekly or as needed, trimmed your Roebelini palm tree several time, raked up several garbage cans full of leaves and yes we picked up garage cans full of sticks weekly from the 2 massive trees in your front yard that drop sticks daily. We also sprayed, over the 4 months, several gallons of expensive weed killer in your beds weekly to control the weeds. You contacted me with a note to cancel service in June because you found a "Cheaper Price". I never received one phone or email that you were not happy with the quality of our service. If I did, I would have met with you immediately to resolve your issues so we could meet and exceed your expectations.....you never gave me or my team a notice or chance to fix it and make you a happy and satisfied customer. You canceled service in June and the last 3 weeks of service we did not trim the hedges or spray weeds to recoup the loss from the free initial clean up and the free week of service in May. You signed an Annual Agreement and canceled 3 months into it breaking the agreement. It is very obvious that you wanted a cheaper price and that is ok, I completely understand in this economy. If you were not happy, we would have made you happy if you just let us know and you didn't. I would have even lowered your price to save your business if you just asked and you didn't. Even with high gas prices we have actually lowered loyal customers prices to help them out and make them happy. I feel we got burnt for a cheaper price with the short term agreement due to the amount of time and effort it took to get your property in shape and maintain it weekly. Your property always looked great up to the last 3 weeks, and you said we did nothing and gave us an F for quality, We are for sure one of the most professional and reputable companies in this area and no we are not the cheapest. Citrus Park Lawn Care is not for everyone and this was all about price and you make us look bad by bashing the quality of our service. We never lose customers because we do whatever it takes to make them happy and satisfied. In this industry you get what you pay for and I hope you found what you are looking for other than a low price. Again, thank you for your business and good luck."
