I signed up with Denis about 4 years indicating to him that my husband and I were looking for a long-term relationship with whom we could trust to do our yard work. His crew provided quality work during that time period with just a couple of issues which Denis tried to rectify as quickly as he could. HOWEVER, on April 1st of this year - just at the beginning of grass growing season, he sent us a letter that his service would be stopped immediately (no 30-day notice) and he gave us another number to call.
We had been faithful and good paying customers for the past 4 years and I feel that this is a lack of professionalism on his part to cut us off without any 30-day notice. I understand that his business has grown and he wants to be in the more lucrative neighborhoods, but I do feel that he should have provided a 30-day notice or gave us this letter in January when yard services were not needed as much
."Thank you for your review. I completely understand and agree with your concern. I would like to explain a few things you may not be away of. We have been servicing several properties on your street for over 3 years since the development of your community. The 2 customers that live by you and across from you have REQUESTED for us to cut the lawn shorter than we were even though it was against our recommendation. We cut all St Augustine lawns at 4"+ and all of our commercial mowers use a mulch kit and we change the blades every day for a good sharp cut. Your community has St Augustine turf in the front and Bahia turf in the back and yes the Bahia is supposed to be cut shorter. I know the importance of not cutting too short or scalping lawns and we take great pride in not doing so. I am on the Board of Directors for the Florida Landscape Maintenance Association, I have all of my Florida state license and certifications in turf management and best practices, and I have had several articles published in multiple national industry magazines. I am also business partners with one of the largest turf chemical companies in the area. So to all the Angie's List customers reading the member's review, please don't worry, we won't cut your lawn too short unless you request it and want it that way, which unfortunately some customers do. Cutting a lawn too short is the worst thing you can do to any turf. The longer the blades of grass on top, the deeper and stronger the roots are in the ground. Also very important is proper watering, not too much, but enough and applied at the right time of day which is early in the morning before the sun comes up. Most importantly is a good and consistent chemical treatment program for fertilizer, bug control, weed control, and fungus control. So member if you are seeing some lawns in your community that look great and some that don't....it's not because we are cutting them too short, it is because they are not watering properly and/or are not using a good chemical treatment program. Or the homeowner or someone else is cutting the lawn too short. If anyone has any questions or would like a free consultation please call me anytime. "Ms. [member name removed], We definitely are not afraid of your bad vine issue. We have several customers with that problem and we do a very good job at taking care of it. We apologize that we do not service your area. Last week on Friday I had a meeting with our Angie's List rep, Jordan, and we did change and update our territory profile to be more specific with the areas we service. We do work in Hillsborough County but we do not cover all areas and zip codes. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention so we could immediately take appropriate actions.
