II hired Best Rate Home Services to move my belongings from two storage units (one on north side of town, the other on south side) to my new home on the north side. Movers were originally scheduled for December 26 at 7am at storage unit on south side of Lakeland. They were a no show. It took me until 8:30a.m. to finally reach someone and they said the truck had a flat tire and they were trying to locate a different truck (I find it odd the drivers would not have called my cell, since my cell number was on their paperwork). They finally told me at 1:30p.m. that they did not have another truck and I was rescheduled for December 27, 6:30am, again at south Lakeland location. I had to reschedule the company installing tile at my home and that cost me a $75 fee. Movers called me at 7:10 a.m. (late) on Dec 27 to say they were at North location...wrong place. I drove there. They started loading the truck at 7:30. Movers stated that many had called in the prior day and that they were two drivers short. They were unaware of any truck that had a flat tire. They loaded the truck, brought it to my house and unloaded. They then went to south location, loaded the truck, stopped for lunch and came back to my house and unloaded. Complete time was 9.5 hours. I spoke with the office and pointed out that 30 minutes of that time would not have been necessary had they arrived at correct location in the morning and that I was not willing to pay for that time or their lunch time. I also stated that I thought I should receive some type of compensation since they were a complete no show the day before. They said they would discount 30 minutes and give me a 15% discount. They 'discounted' something that should not have been there in the first place...that is NOT a discount. With the 30 minutes gone - I still paid for their lunch hour. They did reimburse me the $75 I had to pay the tile company. My nephew, grandson, and a couple of 14 year old boys moved me out of my house and into those storage units using a 20 foot Penske truck. They had to make multiple trips due to the size of the truck. They did it in less time than 3 professionals using a 26 foot box truck. What in this picture isn't right??? All and all, customer service was lousy and I would NEVER use them again. There would NOT have been any compensation had I not requested it, and I think 15% for being a COMPLETE NO SHOW and having to rearrange my whole schedule is poor customer service and a poor business decision. Their motto should be MONEY FIRST . . . customers second.
