I have been using them for years. They are family owned and operated. They have been here well over 30 years, which is how long I have used them. They are fantastic. They are wonderful, friendly, prompt and efficient. They were probably one of the first vendors we used when we moved into the house 38 years ago. In the past they put in a new air handler, a new Trane unit and a new Mitsubishi air conditioner in my place. Their prices are more than fair and competitive. The wife works as a secretary there and she is very friendly and nice. He sends out the licensed workers so I don't have any complaints about them. If I have any kind of problems at all I can call them right back and they would send somebody immediately.
I was told my a/c unit leaked 6 lbs.. of R410a refrigerant. They charged $510 (after a 10% discount) for the service call and to recharge the unit. The technician told me the service call = $90 + 1.5 hours onsite labor = $90 + cost of refrigerant. My online research found the refrigerant can be purchased retail @ $150/ 25lb tank = $6/lb. Therefore, the refrigerant could have been as low as $36. This computes to Bel-Mar's markup on the refrigerant = 900%+. Based on charges from prior companies used and my internet research, I believe $510 for the above services is outrageous!. Especially, considering they didn't even find nor repair the leak ! Bel-Mar was told my opinion (and calculations) on the day of service and in a complaint filed with the BBB. They wrote to the BBB saying they were willing to give a refund but have not made any attempt to communicate with me and their 'proposed' refund did not appear to take into account that they didn't find the leak. $510 charged vs $200- $250 ?
