My recent experience with B C Peabody was not a positive experience. They were contracted through Lowes to renovate my whole house flooring, and renovate my kitchen cabinets, counter and sink. My house was built in the early 1980’s and had to be brought up to code , which I understood. What I did not understand was why the permit process took 2 months.
The men that did the demolition ( VETCorps) were fabulous, courteous and thorough .
The contractor assigned to my project, David, rarely called to keep me in the loop or even to advise if a sub contractor would be stopping by. The building inspector failed the electrical work 3 times, a couple of times the inspector came by and there was no one from B C Peabody on hand to show him the project. The sheetrock repair was done so poorly , that even after I complained that the new surface did not match the old surface ( they had used some spray product that left an ‘orange peel’ finish) I ended up having to skim coat and sand the new wall myself.
I was told that my entire house slab was uneven and it would be an additional $1200. to level it. The flooring contractors did such a poor job of the leveling that my slab was in worse condition after they were finished, but they went ahead and layed the Pergo product down.
When I contacted David about my dissatisfaction on the flooring, he came out and looked at it..then a few days later he had the flooring guys come and look at it, then a couple of weeks later he had some other general contractors come out and look at it…everyone agreed that it was a mess…WEEKS went by , my calls to B C Peabody went unanswered .
When my dishwasher was reinstalled , the drain hose was damaged, flooding my new cabinet and floor the first time I used it. After calling David at B C Peabody , he sent out a worker who was unable to fix the problem and left me a note not to use the dishwasher . . he did not mention that the disposal should not be used. The next time I hand washed the dishes , and ran the disposal…I flooded my new cabinet and floor yet again..this time with food remains from the disposal.
6 months have gone by, B C Peabody FINALLY came and repaired the botched leveling job on my slab. It is my understanding that Lowe’s is no longer using B C Peabody for their customer installation projects. The install team at Lowe’s ( in Lutz, FL) has been very supportive through out this whole project , holding B C Peabody accountable. I have nothing but the highest praise for the entire Lowe’s team at that store.
