"[Member Name Removed]: Thank you so much for your very kind review. Seeing people follow through on a review is very difficult and I sometimes think "Man, I should give this professional or review and forget to follow through. I really apreciate your efford. Hope I can help you again and remember we give a bottle of wine for every paid referal. Ted"
"[Member Name Removed]: I appoligize for the late thank you. I guess I was not contacted by Angie's list that you had sent a review. Really appreciate you taking the time to write a review. They are so difficult to get. Ted"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed]. Angie's List has not been sending my noticications. I just saw this today. You are a special person."
"[Member Name Removed]: I just saw this today. Thank you for following through. You are one customer I will never forget. You are an American Hero and my hero. When you are ready, and I hope you are getting there, I leave open the invite to speak to my Rotary Club for Veteran's Day or Memorial Day meeting. Always the Friday before. Hope to speak to you again and wish you the very best. You deserve it. Ted Wilson"
"[Member Name Removed]: Thank you for your very kind remarks. You and [Removed Member Name] were super to work with. Ted"
"Thank you very much for your kind remarks!"
So, years later we are still enjoying a beautiful pool deck. Ted Wilson was knowledgeable, creative, and helped us in every way. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for quality work.
"Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Hope you and Rick are doing well. You are such nice people."
"Thank you [Member name removed] for your very kind remarks. I do hope to hear from you in the future."
"Thank you [member name removed]. We try hard to please."
"(member name removed): Thank you for the very kind review. You are a special customer and I will never forget our first meeting. Memory tells me with the driveway, patio and walk combined it was over $20,000."
"[Member Name Removed]: Thank you for your very kind comments. Our goal is your satisfaction. Your grade of "B" on price reminds me of the commercial several years ago that said "We can build it cheaper but can we build it better". As you have seen we do what we say we do at a price that works for both of us .I suspect a lot of companies could quote a lower price. but can they come through?"
"[Members Name]: Thank you so much for your kind words. You was great to work with also. Ted"
"[Member name removed]: . I am so sorry that you are displeased with our finished project. As far as the chipped pavers you and I had a hard time even finding them on our walk through. And, if I recall, you found additional pavers after the guys came out to replace the ones we found together. I was not aware that they ran out of pavers to replace any that might still be chipped. If that a problem let me know and I will have additional pavers sent to me with another shipment. I regards to what you say is crooked pavers: I explained to you that the house, and or, the patio foundation was not square. We have to follow what is there. What you are saying is crooked is actually along the perimeter where we have to cut to what we have. The incident with your husband on the phone happened after you and I had agreed on how to handle the final payments. He was not nice at all on the phone. I responded in a like manner. Sorry for the stress on both of us. Ted"
"Thank you (Member name removed). It was a pleasure working with you to create the final results."
"[member name removed]: It was a pleasure working with you on the dramatic transformation of your pool. I ordered additional coping today."
"[Member Name Removed]: As I told you on the phone I was not aware of any problems. I will be out to see what is going on this week. It will be taken care of ASAP. Sounds like something that could have been taken care of if we were aware."
The first time Ted met my husband he insulted him by using an inappropriate, unprofessional word to define him. We are sure he will say he didn't because we don't think he realizes the term is offensive. In a customer service world, you should know. We do not feel the word is even ok to post here. We should have gone with his gut on this initial reaction and not hired him.
After several reschedules and calls with the owner, we ended up hiring another company to come do the sealing. They came out the same day and gave us a quote.
Because Bay Brick Pavers came recommended, we didn't verify the square footage quoted versus our pool deck plans. That was our trusting mistake. The new company came out and measured and their measurements were 70 square feet less than what Bay Brick Pavers quoted. We then pulled out the pool plans and saw this company was spot on. Bay Brick had overcharged us. When we told the owner, he just denied it. Since this was a job based on square feet, he should have offered to come back out and remeasure to see where the discrepancy was. At this point, we were so over his condescending and demeaning tone that we just paid him to end it.
The new company did not ask for a cent until the work was complete and we had time to inspect it. As others have noted, Ted will keep calling for the money and will require money up front. The new company also completed the work on a Saturday - something Ted was not willing to do even though he was very behind.
We decided to only communicate with Ted via email so that we would have everything in writing and also we just didn't want to hear his attitude towards us anymore. Bay Brick Paver's biggest fan (where we got the referral) has since stopped giving out his name as he is very embarrassed by this whole experience.
After the work was completed, we found an area that wasn't laid properly. Thankfully, I took before and after pictures (please do) because Ted did not believe us without it. The first thing he asked for was the pictures - all documented in email. After we sent the pictures there was no denying it so they did come out and fix the area.
Overall we were very disappointed with how long everything took and the way we were treated.
"[member name removed]: It is curious that you would send such a brutal review 8 months after your project and on the weekend following the completion of the lanai for your brother's sister-in-law. I believe if they belonged to Angie's list their review would be quite different. We do not schedule projects by size. The problem we had with scheduling your repairs and sealing was that you wanted specific dates that I told you form the beginning we could not promise. When we start a job we do not leave it until it is completed. (Repairing and sealing your deck is two seperate jobs requiring crews with different skills.) Your request was like "I want your crew here on Wednesday of this week and if that can't work than I need you here on Thursday of the folowing week." We promised the customers we had underway that their job would be finished before the crew started something else. I don't understand why your pool was unusable. The deck needed repaired way before you ever contacted us and the repair was made in one day if I recall. Sealing the deck should not have shut down your pool either. You indicate that we over charged you for the repair. You and I both had the same drawing that specified the scope of work with the square footage of each area to be repaired clearly indicated. This had no relationship to the total square footage of the pool deck. You failed to mention that the bases of our recall was very minor and cosmetic and also that we returned promply to make it right. We pride ourselves in doing things right. So sorry we could not make it work for you."
"[member name removed]: Thank you for the kind review. I really enjoyed working with you."
"Why [member name removed], Thank you for the kind words."
Laissez faire (BUYER BEWARE), it would be difficult for us to recommend Bay Brick Pavers although the quality of work performed by their subcontractor was exceptional. Our recommendations to prospective customers would be:
1. Remember that without your input, the contract only protects the vendors interest, not yours.
2. Insure you read the contract (front & back).
3. Have everything you want specifically specified in the contract.
4. Have the vendor provide dates on the contract:
A. A date material will be ordered and delivered.
B. An estimated date for work to begin.
C. An estimated date or date of completion.
5. Do not give the vendor a deposit until they show good faith by ordering all materials. Your good faith is shown by signing the contract. The vendor should supply documentation (invoices) of ordered materials. In our case the provider was able to use our deposit for a month and a half before any pavers were delivered.
6. Be sure you understand the warranty policy specified on the contract. NOTE: A manufactures' warranty of 10 years is specified on the backside of the contract but the vendors Web Site specifies a 25 year warranty and the provider failed to provide us with any manufacture information or details.
7. Understand that leftover pavers (not used) become your property. So if the provider does not order the correct amount of materials for the job, you wait for additional materials or you have more pavers than the job required.
Based on our experience It is difficult at best to write a favorable review for this vendor. If this provider had not sent us an invoice on 1/27/2014 showing a balance due of $2354.00 after we personally gave the providers' representative a check for that amount 3 days earlier on 1/24/2014 for completion of all work and materials, I may not be writing this review. Our check was deposited in the vendors account on 1/27/2014 and on that same day they sent me an invoice with a balance due of $2354.00. Now I question if this provider has a CASH FLOW problem and/or follows Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
The Web Site for this provider boasts of "WOW" and of installing a 7500 sq. ft. driveway in a day and installing a 150 sq. ft. patio on the next day. We got more "WOW" than we bargained for in that our home was broken into during the period of the biggest mess in the front and back yard In addition, our contracts only totaled approximately 730 sq. ft. which took 3 months and 8 day to complete, not one day. After the break-in I had to get a security system installed to calm my wife's fears.
The provider diffently did not order needed materials to complete this project in a timely manner. During a 3 month period we accepted three (3) different deliveries at different intervals when all the materials could have been delivered at the same time. This does not included what the workers brought with them to do the job. In addition the initial providers' representative demonstraded a low level of customer service skills making us feel as though he was the customer and they were doing us a favor because they were not making any money on this project. A subsequent provider representative did demonstrate a more positive customer demeanor but this was not extended to us until the end.
We would like to have additional work (pavers installed) in the future but not by this vendor. As I write this review it has been raining for the past three days and the rain has washed the sand from between the pavers and I do not wish to complain to this vendor. We really do not desire to have any further contact with this vendor. If this vendor wishes to refute this review, I will be more that happy to submit addition detail, dates and pictures.
An explaination of our rating: OVERALL we give this vendor a "D" minus because of the time they took in ordering and completing the wook. PRICE we give this vendor and "F" because the price was to high for the aggarvation, time and mess we had to endure. QUALITY we could easlly give a an "A" to their subcontractor who performed all the work but when we look at the over mess and time it took we rate them as a "D". RESPONSIVENESS: we rate them an "F" because they failed to use any sensitivity in the performance of their obligations perferring instead to offer and use excuses. They were more concerned in getting paid even if the work was not completed. PUNCTUALITY: we rate as "F" for the 3 months it took to complete the work. PROFESSIONALISM: we rate them a "D" for the poor customer service.
"[member name removed]: I cannot believe how many issues you raise in your review and how disappointed you are at the efforts of The Outdoor Floor Source to improve your property. We first met on November 13, 2013. You and I discussed your interest and possible solutions. I did a drawing and proposal while in your home. With your input I suggested our vendor Flagstone Pavers as the best solution to accomplish your objective. The project called for 5 different materials in the same Cream, Beige, Charcoal color: Thick pavers, thin pavers, coping, retaining wall and wall cap. Before you signed the agreement, and in your presents, I called Flagstone to confirm availability. Their response as I presented to you: They could deliver 4 of the five materials in mid-December and that the wall cap could not be delivered until mid-January. Retaining wall and cap is not a priority with any manufacturer. They are special products that I hope can be in stock. You and I agreed at that time that we would begin the work in mid-December with everything but the wall cap and that we would return in mid-January to place the wall cap. You signed an agreement on November 13 knowing that the 4 materials could not be delivered until mid-December and that the cap could not be delivered until mid-January. The order to Flagstone was placed on Nov. 14. (I think I showed you the order.) You also know that I called you on December 13 to tell you that I had been called to Indiana for a family emergency and I felt like, because of the complexity of your project, I needed to be at your site before the guys started. I returned on Sunday December 23, had the materials immediately released and everything, except the wall cap, was complete on December 28. When I went to do the final walk through with you and collect payment you told me about certain additions you wanted to make to the project. We agreed that when the wall cap was delivered we would do the additions. So to act so disappointed in the time lag between the initial agreement and completion is only what I told you would happen on November 15. Now the question of when and how we deposited your checks. When we receive a check we deposit it. I do not understand your point but it sounds a bit vindictive and slanderous. Please be careful. [member name removed], I cannot believe your ratings. Price: “F” Did you chose us because we charged too much? Quality: You gave us a “D” yet you say in your review that the quality was Exceptional. Responsiveness: “F”. Did I not answer all of your calls or if you left voice mail return your call promptly? (Exception: the weird email you sent.) Punctuality: “F”. I can only say that we did what we said we would do when we said we would do it."
