Heating and Air Conditioning Service
The operator was delightful and very professional. The service tech could not clearly explain the issues with my A/C. That being said he restarted my compressor but it was drawing more amps than it was designed for. As a preventative measure when he was hear I asked him to make sure the A/C was draining properly, since I've had issues with that at past residences and I wanted to head off any future issues. I was charged $423 for both. The service tech did not provide an itemized its of charges on the receipt. I should have been billed for his labor and any parts he used labor for any work done. The only item noted on the bill was the Drain service. I called to complain but the operator has no knowledge of technical things and could not assist. Three week later I have water dripping from my garage ceiling. I called another service, who identified the drain was clogged. The tech was perplexed that I was charged for a draining cleaning since there was no evidence it had been performed. He also checked my compressor and identified the issue regarding the amps exceeding its .8 max. The part to fix was 140. He verified no parts had been installed during the air national tech visit, I understood he had done. The tech today shook his head regarding the 423 I had been charged. For all the same work, I was charged 238 today. I called another company and they cleaned the drain which they described as having debris in it. They checked my compressor and identified the issue there. They replaced a failing part which corrected the amperage issue. They noted there was no evidence Air National's tech had done anything to the compressor to correct for the issue. Air National 's tech warned me of excessive mold and the fact I needed a new A/C because the one they installed in 2010 was shot. He also expressed concern regarding the level of mold in the The Tech today says the state of my A/C is quite normal and with the part he installed, I have no need to replace it now. He assures me I can get another 2 years from the current system so that it reaches the normal life expectancy of an A/C in Florida of at least 10 years. I expect to need to buy 3 more A/C's over the course of he rest of my life. I wont be buying them from Air National.

I don't understand all the bad reviews on here. I called them needing a repair and had a coupon for a free repair. The technician was so friendly, professional, and courteous. He was very straightforward about what needed done and even replaced a part that I needed replaced. He didn't have to do all that he did, but he did it because he was a honest, good person. They are an excellent company, and I'd recommend them to anyone. A++++

They overcharged me, and when I caught them they promised to refund some money and that never happened. They promised me rebates through the electric company and I never got those because they were not signed up with the electric company. I still have problems with the machine yet today. They charged me to do work that was under warranty. The stole my old A/C equipment and said it was out of warranty when it was not, and I could not get it back. They blamed all problems on the service guy and supposedly fired him and said they are no responsible for what he says or does. The company holds no responsibility for what they did. I feel they take advantage of senior citizens.

On June 17, they came out because our AC was not working. They decided that it was the coil that had busted and that all of our freon had leaked out of the machine. They told me that the coil would be ordered and shipped by Friday. We made an appointment for Saturday and for them to install the new coil. I called them Thursday night and they said that they did not have the coil. I called them this morning after hearing nothing from them and they said that they had to order the coil from the manufacturer because they did not have them and they have to make it. The coil will not arrive until July 5th, almost two weeks from now.

Since December 2007 we've had several problems that, every year a major component seemed to fail. First it was the copper tubing that carries the refrigerent from the outside unit to the inside unit, then there were several leaks in the system here and there. Now today we have a new leak and they said the outside units coils were corroded and needed to be replaced. In total we have about 14 repair invoices and for most parts were covered under warranty, but as I'm finding out, I have to pay the labor each time. So far this unit has cost me about an additional $1,200 per year. I even entered into a maintenance contract with Air National hoping this would help improve the reliablity and reduce the problem to no avail. I even called Amana and was told they couldn't do anything other than send parts, they employee no experts to help the consumer in any way. So, as of today I'm cancelling my contract with Air National and have aquired a new service provider. Hopefully in a few years they will be installing a new Trane system.

I thanked him for the quick response and his time and I would get back to him. Later on that evening when I came home from work I cleaned the pump and tubing, the pump has been running vey well for just over a month now.

I didn't particularly care for the technician's attitude, and what he was telling me made me skeptical The tech was rather abrupt and impatient with me, and when questioned about why a hard-start kit needed to be replaced if it was in working order when initially saying it was not working, then wanting to charge $200 for a part that only costs $10 (the capacitor), he quickly backpedaled on his story. As soon his lies were caught, he basically cut off the conversation by saying, "Would you rather just have someone else come out here and do the repair?" Also, the technician, Frank, hesitated when asked which company he worked for.
Since he did not perform any repairs I was charged an $80 trip fee.
In summary:
The technician was a jerk.
He tried to convince me to replace a part that was currently in working order.
He tried to overcharge me for a cheap part that we could buy from Grainger for less than $20.
Made it seem as though my air conditioner was going to crumble into dust by next week if he didn't do major repairs on it.
Kept changing his story.
Upon researching this company with the Better Business Bureau, I've learned that they have 12 unresolved complaints in the past year, a "D" rating, and every review I could find on Google (that was not done by a paid blogger) was that of people getting ripped off by this company.

I feel that we were greatly taken advantage of by the smooth-talking sales representative. I had just arrived from Missouri to care for my 88 year old father-in-law, and my mind was a bit muddled. When all was said and done, I realized that we had paid this company $1400 for labor to replace the coil in a 3 year old unit. The coil was under warranty, so no charge for the part. It took the installers about an hour to do the actual work. This is outrageous! I am still kicking myself for letting this happen, but it is a major shame on them for even being so over the top in their charges. I hope that this and other reports get back to them. Maybe they will get the message.

I think we have run out of patience with this system and Air National. We have been struggling with this installation for almost three years, and only discover more problems with the unit, the installation or "something else." I now have an incredible array of obvious mis-sized PVC in the atic, taped-off with duct tape and a drain pan that does not drain. I have water leaking in my bathroom ceiling and we are at our end. A gentlement came out late last night to inspect and verify our "claim" and we expect "something in the way of a correction, but we have had it with Air National. I should have checked the BBB earlier, but neglected to check. Having looked today, I see they are NOT rated with the BBB and have many complaints about the service. Event timeline: Installation in May 2008 was done, we were told, by contracted installers. They were quickly released after several failed installs. Permits were never requested, but we were told by another contractor that they were required. Our installation, as well as others, went so poorly that a Supervisor came to our house to calm us down, tell us they would support the installation and make it right. We were also told that we would automatically be put on the Service Agreement list to continually check on the system. That never happened and that Supervisor has come and gone. On the front of the unit is a label that indicates the maximum Static Pressure for this unit. A simple test would have shown that this unit would never operate within the recommended parameters without additional systemic changes. The system is/was operating at a 57% efficiency rating with a static measurement of .7 versus the .3 recommended and clearly labeled on the unit. Constant trips to either add more refrigerant, decrease refrigerant (really) and “other” things like showing us how to defrost the unit when it freezes-up, go on for almost three years after installation. It is now April 2011. We are now being told that the manufacturer (Amana) has decided that with all the problems they have had using the original copper pipes with this unit’s installations, they no longer support that install, and that new copper needs to be installed at our cost. We have since been told that is incorrect, and that our copper likely never needed replacement. After the copper installation and while we awaited a replacement of the air handler coil “at a reduced” rate (which, by the way, is already the customary rate from the manufacturer) the system leaks into the drain pan and onto our ceiling. We called for evening repairs, and the technician discovered the pan was out of alignment, among other things. The technician wrote several things down (we were not privy to any of these) and said he would address this with management in the morning, and that he, “…had some amount of pull…” in getting things made right. We attempted to put a “hold” on our check from the day before, but discover it had already been cashed and cleared. The Invoice clearly states, …”Customer paying check upon completion…” but these repairs have yet to be completed, and we have yet to receive our “discounted” coil. Upon visiting the office two days later, I was told 1) the evening technician did not indicate there were any problems with the system, 2) any leak would have been our fault for not having the drains cleaned every two years (another Company has since proven the drains were clear and running smoothly), and 3) the unleveled pan was unnoticed by their technicians who worked on the copper just a few days previous. The coil that had been promised still had not arrived.

Overall, it went okay. I needed a replacement package AC unit. The equipment recommended by the techs, which I purchased, was top-notch. The installation service was professional. The installers replaced the AC unit, and then arranged for the permit inspection with Hillsborough County. The initial county permit Inspection failed, and the required repairs to get installation up to "code" took almost three months. Overall, the service technicians were professional and knowledgable. The recommended replacement unit was expensive, but a good value, and the installation was well done and acceptable (to me). But it failed the permit inspection for several reasons: some cosmetic and some electrical. The re-inspection by the county passed, after some modifications by the technicians. I'll readily admit that I was out of town for much of the process, and it was difficult to schedule the repairs required to bring the installation up to code. However, it took an excessive amount of time (in my opinion) to get the installation complete and inspected.

The first time they came out, a couple of salesmen told us that our air conditioner was only working about 50%, so we decided to install a new Trane system. The boss then called us after we made up our minds, and convinced me to install a Lennox. They came in the same day that he had made the call and installed the Lennox, and they didn't put the air handler on properly, and our house was warmer than our garage. They had to come out five different times before they got the work right. To this day, I regret going with them. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Our central air conditioning no longer blew cool air. We called our favorite handyman and he recommended Air National. The receptionist was very friendly and set up an appointment for a technician to come out. She said that a service fee of $79.00 would be charged for the visit. However, I was not told what the hourly rate would be. It turned out to be about $180. The tech was named Mark. Very nice and knowledgeable guy. He figured out where the problem was: a faulty capacitor. He relaced it and tested the unit. He spent a little over an hour working. Since I have zero experience with central AC units, I have no idea where to look. With 90 degree heat in June, it was worth $299 to us. I now see online that I could purchase the same capacitor for $40. But, how would I know what was wrong? How would I know how to install it. To me, it was worth it.

The work was shoddy and even though promised, by the owner, that work would be completed by professional, knowledgeable, competent workers...it was not. There was various damages that occurred during the job, especially to the wall and door. I would like to have the wall, door and door frame repaired and the carpet cleaned.
