This company was very professional... on time.. and pleasant. No extra charges, no BS - they got the job done without any headaches!!

U-Pack coordinates the services. They schedule local moving companies to load and unload. They work with another company to actually truck your things to another state.
U-Pack itself was great. Always answered the phone. Was able to give status of the move at all times during the process. Very understanding and responsive.
The trucking company used was great. The trailer was dropped off on time. The trailer was picked up on time. The trailer arrived in FL on time. The empty trailer was picked up on time. The drivers we meet were very nice and professional. I give them an A+.
The local moving companies were another story. The CA company was horrible. They arrived 3.5 hours late. This would not have been so bad if each time I called they hadn't lied and said and quot;we're on our way, we'll be there in 20 minutesand quot;. So, my mom and I waited at the house the entire 3.5 hours with absolutely nothing to do. If they had been honest, we could have left and gotten other things done.
Once the CA team arrived, they were not professional. It seemed like the company didn't have enough people, so the wife, sister and brother of a worker were helping. They were careful with all things. And the one that seemed to actually work there was very good. Just didn't seem like a very professional company. Upon finishing, they accidentally broke the lock in the trailer door. Because of how it was broken, the door wouldn't close. They did not fix this and just took off. I had to personally go to Home Depot to buy a lock cutter and a new lock. I had to pay $50 for these items. And, this further delayed the process by about 1.5 hours. So I think the total loading took from 9am to 5pm. And, the actual load was really only 3 hours. So 5 hours of waiting or fixing their lock error.
The FL unloading company was better. They too were several hours late. They too lied about their arrival time at least twice. But once there, the two guys were much more professional and fast. They unloaded in 2 hours. They also apologized several times as they were at another unload that was much larger than they realized.
I had looked at reviews for the CA local moving company and they were good. So not sure if I just hit a day when all their regular staff called in sick. But our experience was very, very bad.
I would say the benefits of U-Pack were that their price compared well to other estimates I received, they guaranteed a delivery date and this was MUCH shorter than other companies (they did 5 business days, other companies said possibly 2-3 weeks), and they did have very good reviews online.
And, U-Pack was great to work with. We paid the same amount as was estimated -- so they did not add in any unexpected costs. They were easy to contact and responsive.

Everything was exactly as promised and they were really good. They ewre like a fine tooth machine. They told me exactly when they would be unloaded. Everything went just perfect.
