On 5/28 and 6/10 Walter mowed my front yard, trimmed and edged, but he did not do anything in the backyard. On 6/10 when I saw him leaving, I asked him why he was not doing the backyard and he said the gate was locked. I did not know this because he did not knock on the door. I apologized and unlocked the gate, but he said the backyard did not need to be cut. I then suggested he trim the Jasmine. I felt I was paying for services he was not doing. On 6/23 I spoke with Jo about Walter not doing anything in the backyard including the much needed edging, and asked why was he was not doing the work I was paying for, and why does he not at least trim the Jasmine out front if the mowing is not necessary because in all fairness, I am paying as per the estimate for the front and backyard. Jo was in the backyard and saw the edging and mowing was not getting done. On 6/26 Walter came to my home and when asked why he was not doing my backyard and why was he not doing the edging? Walter gave me two different answers: "I forgot" and "I didn't see it." I then asked him if he was not going to do the backyard, to please trim the Jasmine when you are here. He said it would be "considerably more money" for him to do that. Okay, so I am not getting what I have paid for and in exchange I will have to pay more for Walter to trim the Jasmine. This is not fair. My backyard is at least 3/4 the size of my front yard and no edging was ever done and it needs to get done as weeds have overgrown the borders. Walter said he did not want to do my lawn anymore. Then I got an email from Jo saying Walter had to defend himself and she did not like that. I answered her explaining I had never raised my voice to Walter and only wanted to know why what I was paying for was not getting done. Jo and I went back and forth on the last bill which I paid after she took $23 off a $155 bill. I feel I should have received credit for two backyard services, but I paid it so I could be done with it. I learned a lesson, if you want professional landscape services, do not hire a mother and son. If you have a small yard with minimal edging, trimming, etc., this crew may be all you need, but I am accustomed to professional landscapers and since have hired someone new.
I updated my review score since hiring a new company in July that out performs this company 200%, plus they only charge me $5.00 more, and use three workers. They do all the cutting, trimming of my Jasmine, bushes, and weeding and my place looks great. They are in and out within 30-40 minutes and bill monthly. Bottom line is to shop around because there are many other professional landscape services that do a better job. The company I am now using is Perfection Landscape Maintenance and I highly recommend them. I will leave an Angie Review for them.
"The reason she said she felt like we were an honest company was due to our work ethics and our charging less than our initial quote to do the landscape bed clean up. After providing the work and taking care of the beds myself, I felt I was a bit high and charged her less, probably $35 or more less. Our initial clean up price was very fair too..... $125.00. Plus, when the gate was locked, Walter rang the doorbell to see if anyone was home and could unlock it.....which she states that he didn't. Why wouldn't he? He at least tries to see if anyone is there even if doesn't see a car on the property, but could be in the garage!!! Once he could get back there to see that it really had not grown much since last time he saw it, it is very shaded, so explained to her that the grass is so sparce and and mostly dirt, letting it grow since it's in that condition would help to allow it to fill in more. SHE AGREED! We are thinking we are doing everything right.... pricing more than fair, bringing her place back, communicating...... then when Walter tries to approach her to talk to her about trimming the jasmine that she initially said don't include it in your quote to keep it trimmed up......... I will sum the rest up in as few a words as possible.......We service other homeowners in this area/neighborhood as well as MANY other areas........a lot of owners come out on purpose to talk to Walter, just to visit, or tell him how they appreciate him and the work he is doing. When your customer purposely comes out while you are there and tells you what a great job you are doing, they appreciate his professionalism, how approachable he is and his work ethics. We have more reviews on our website and some great pictures of our work as well :):) Common dominators are everywhere and do nothing wrong, while everyone else is to blame! We agreed to maintain this place with the understanding she DID NOT want us to include keeping the jasmine trimmed, only the edge of it. So we priced it accordingly, even having to use a different mower in the back yard. On the latest and final visit, the owner said she was watching Walter when he drove up and sat in front of her house for a bit and did not unload his equipment...... so, she had to let me know that meant he didn't want to work or do her lawn. When he was actually on the phone with me discussing giving this place some extra care, plus he wanted to talk to her about the jasmine so there was no confusion, which is what professionals do. This was one of the times he was accused of not ringing the doorbell when he actually did because he wanted to talk to her.....I did ask her to check to see if it was functioning properly. Okay, so the beds had not been touched in a long time.... perhaps a year or better when we took over. That is why in the past it takes 5 people to clean them up. There is nothing wrong with wanting your landscape to be pristine, but do you have to maintain it .... Letting it go for so long and then not even allowing us to bring straw/mulch in to help complete the job. Then there are elephant ears all through the back yard that pop up everywhere, quickly. Yeah...elephant ears are hard to get rid of. We have been doing this for 8 years and we love what we do. There are those who have a clear understanding of what it takes to maintain a lawn and landscape and then we do try to help those who are not as familiar and sometimes it doesn't work out. You decide.... Thank you for your time."
