I hired this company to remove a stain (probably algae) from my pool. The technician was extremely nice, and he recommended we first treat the pool for copper staining. If that didn't work, he said that they could acid wash it. I asked the cost of both treatments. He said the copper treatment would be about $150, and the acid washing would be more but without specifying. I agreed to do both unconditionally. I want the job done! The treatment left a white powder precipitant on the pool floor, and this made the water appear blue and beautiful, but it required vacuuming. So I agreed to pay for vacuuming, though the price was unstated. The chemical treatment took three weeks and was a dismal failure. No improvement. The technician said the company would call me to schedule the acid wash, but I received no call. After that, the technician did not return my phone call message, but the company receptionist said that a manager would call me back. I never heard from anyone. The following week I received an inflated bill for approximately $450 for the failed chemical "treatment". Salvo never called me back to follow up with the acid wash. Bottom line is, inflated billing and very poor service. Seems like a rip off to me, but you make the call. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Outstanding experience in every regard. Ryan, Daniel and team are very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and honest. Pools aren't inexpensive, but that said, the pricing was very fair in all respects. As well, the construction of a pool is exactly that - a major construction project - and Salvo pools makes every effort to ensure there is as little disruption and impact to the customers' lives as possible. Highly recommended, without reservation.

Salvo Pools recently resurfaced our 30-year-old pool. It was a big job, requiring an earlier surface to be sandblasted. We could not be more pleased with the result. Every single Salvo employee and subcontractor was extremely professional, meticulous, hard-working and courteous. All involved were sensitive to our preferences and concerns. Attention was paid to the smallest detail and the worksite cleanup was thorough after each stage of the project. Salvo's managers are extremely knowledgeable and were very patient in guiding us through the various decisions that had to be made. The firm's use of technology is impressive, both for pool design and project management. We were so impressed with Salvo that we have used them subsequently for work on our pump and filter system and have signed up for their weekly maintenance service. We highly recommend this long-time Tallahassee company.

We called four different pool companies. One wanted $175 plus travel just to give us an estimate (although they provided an over-the-phone estimate on just the liner -- their estimate was double what we ended up paying with Salvo pools). One didn't show up when scheduled. One didn't return our calls. But Salvo Pools came out when scheduled, answered all of our questions, and provided the detailed estimate required by our bank (repairs were part of a home renovation loan). We had to replace both the liner and the stairs, add a rail to the stairs, replace the light fixture, repair the walls under the liner, repair plumbing issues, etc. Salvo Pools always showed up when they said they would, completed the work on time, and were great to work with. I heartily recommend them for anyone who is certain their horrible old pool can't be saved -- it can!

From start to finish, and beyond, our experience with Salvo Pools has been exceptionally positive. We have nothing but praises for the company, its employees and subcontractors. Specifically: • Salvo exudes professionalism as a well organized and managed business, particularly when compared to the several other local pool construction companies which we contacted and from whom we requested bids and proposals. • The Salvo business model is well thought, from first contact thru design and construction, to completion and turnover to the customer. This is extremely important insofar as a) confusion, misunderstandings, and the like are avoided; b) confidence in the investment with Salvo is maximized; c) there is a clear and direct connection between the flow of dollars and the progress on the project. • Salvo is prompt, always keeps appointments, does what they say when they say it will be done. This may seem like a minor point, but in our experience this kind of professionalism…and common courtesy…is sorely lacking amongst many competitors in this area. • Salvo’s pricing is very competitive, fair, clear, and forthright. It is inclusive, with no add ons, gotchas, or mandatory options. Building a high quality pool is not inexpensive – witnessing the design, construction and fit out process makes that obvious and understandable. With Salvo, we had complete confidence that every dollar spent was spent wisely and well. • There are many subcontractors involved in a pool construction project – excavation, iron workers, concrete applications, plumbing, electrical, bricklayers, and the like – and effective project management is a must. Salvo has this process nailed – common sets of plans for all, standardized installation practices, and the like. • Salvo is cognizant that the construction of a pool creates a construction zone in the immediate proximity of one’s home. Salvo goes to great lengths to mitigate the attendant noise, mess, and the like. Perhaps more important, Salvo holds his employees and subcontractors to the highest standards of courtesy, etc., with regard to interaction with the homeowners. We cannot stress enough how important this is. • Salvo makes a great product. Ours was a modest, upscale, salt water pool. Salvo offered many creative suggestions and ideas, and worked easily with us to create exactly what we desired. There was no up-sale or options add-on pressure in the process. We ended up with exactly what we wanted, within the budget we desired. We couldn’t be happier with Salvo Pools. Net, they did what they said they’d do, in the time frame promised, and within the agreed budget. Throughout the entire process, from first meeting to turnover, and beyond, they were a pleasure with whom to work. We give Salvo Pools our highest, unreserved endorsement. If you are interested in a pool, and live in the greater Tallahassee area, we urge you to contact Salvo before committing to any other company.

Not sure yet. It is a rental and I have not been by there yet. The tenants state everything is good so far. We can leave it at that conclusion. When I do get over there, if by chance I am not happy with something I will report back, but all my other interactions with the service provided (phone, email, etc) was a very good experience. Very knowledgeable, and helped guide me in the right direction.

After reading about a little boy who was electrocuted in a pool because there was no transformer installed in the pool light, I was not able to relax in my pool....I kept staring at my old, non-functioning pool light and wondering if the light was burned out or if the wires were corroded and i was going to be electrocuted. My husband said that getting a new light with a transformer was probably cheaper than going to a psychologist for treatment for pool-light-induced stress. So I called Salvo Pool. The gentleman who answered the phone told me that LED lights were now available which were extremely low voltage and if I wanted to replace my old light, he would also check to see if a transformer had ever been installed. He ordered a new light for me and in a few days he called and said it arrived, and asked if I wanted someone to come right out and install it. And I did. The service person came immediately (took him ten minutes to get here) He began by removing the old 120 volt light...he was able to do that from under the water. It was fascinating and he let me watch and ask endless questions, all of which he answered clearly and completely and with wonderful patience. He said that when the old pool light had been installed, no transformer had been installed, and thus he installed one for me. And he installed a lovely LED light which sparkles in the pool water and is much more attractive than the old light had been. He cleaned up everything and told me they would send a bill. When I received the bill, I was pleasantly surprised that the total was less than the estimate had been. Salvo has been here before and has always provided prompt service. Once a couple of years ago, a squirrel had chewed through the wire to our water pump causing it to stop working--they fixed it the same day I phoned and they did not charge me anything.. I'll never use any other company.
This is not part of my review, but I don't know where else to write it. When I checked my review, I noticed that it is listed under the category of "Concrete". My pool is fiberglass and Salvo is a pool repair company. Dear Angie's list people: You need to have a category that starts with "POOLS" Who looks under concrete to find a pool repair company? Not me. Thanks.
