There were problems. I think they under-estimated the cost so they may have lost money. .Our house was built in 1978 so it wasn't done to today's standards. They suggested removing all the old siding, putting in insulation where needed, covering with plywood, housewrap, and putting in anchor bolts where needed. We agreed which increased the original price. Unfortunately, when putting on the plywood, they went through the frame of the windows. None of the glass broke, but none of the windows could be opened. We can make photos available if picturing this is hard. To the owner's credit, he did offer to replace all the windows with new windows which were were double-paned, UV resistant and aluminum clad, at no additional charge. We decided to get new sliding glass doors as well. Additional problems included long delays with limited communication, which we usually had to initiate, putting the siding on the back before the housewrap was put on (so it had to be removed and redone), putting in the sliding glass doors wrong so they had to be redone, and not removing the debris in a timely manner. The project started 1/21/14. To this day, we still have some excess plywood, old windows, and other material which they need to remove. We thought it would all be gone by now. Part of the delay wasn't their fault such as bad weather/rain. It took a long time for the windows to come in because they were custom sized and had to be made. We'd be told a date they were expected, and when that day was approaching or past, we had to ask about it. Then some of the windows hadn't been made right, so new ones had to be ordered and made. The company owner assumed he could just go into Lowe's or similar and get the sliding glass doors, but apparently they only carry vinyl doors these days, so those had to be ordered which added weeks. I don't think most people get board and batten vinyl siding, so they didn't seem to have that much experience with it. The final product does look pretty good, but all the other issues have impacted the overall grade. I can say that everyone connected with the company was pleasant, friendly, respectful, and nice. I just can't believe how long it took, how many obstacles were encountered, and that I still have some garbage in my yard that I've been asking them to remove. Some has been picked up, but this is dragging on.
