I recommend Greg Miller Septic Services without reservation. My 86 year old mother in Tallahassee had sewage backing up into her house after prolonged heavy rains before Christmas, on a Friday. She felt over-whelmed and asked my husband and me to coordinate getting the problem solved for her even though we are located in Jacksonville. While other companies could not give her an appointment until the following Monday, Greg's Company came the next day (thankfully there was a break in the rain), a Saturday, and pumped out her two tanks. It was also discovered that there was no electricity getting to the pump, and then discovered that the pump had gone out. Greg and his associate Casey talked with us by phone throughout the whole process of getting all the issues resolved, both before work ensued and on-site as work was in progress. By the way, my husband is a licensed building contractor and is the one who installed the pump over five years previously, so he knew it was indeed time for a new one. They returned and installed the new pump later the next week, and we used the electrician they frequently work with to solve the electrical issues. They were cordial and reassuring to my mother and did an efficient and professional job. The prices were very reasonable. We are very pleased with Greg Miller Septic Services and appreciate them. I called this firm on the recommendation of his brother(owner,Brian's Septic). I needed a pump out badly and Brian couldn't get to it for 3 weeks. Miller's came out and did a pumpout and informed my wife that the drainfield needed to be replaced. I was out of town but called their rep and asked him to email their proposal to fix my problem(s). After returning home, I waited more than a week for a response from them(which never came). I then called Brian again about his brother's non-responsiveness and he told me to go to Apalachee Back Hoe & Septic for service. I did so and received 1st class service from them (drainfield repair and pump out). When they opened the tank, it had a 16" thick layer of sludge which was not pumped out by Miller's two weeks before. The Health Dept. Inspector who also witnessed this, told me that Miller's pumped out my tank improperly through the pipe(with threaded lid) instead of removing the top tank lid where they could access the sludge layer break it up and remove it. As result, I had to have the tank pumped again($250). After all work was completed, I contacted Greg Miller about his poor pumpout. To his credit, he was apologetic and refunded the $250 we paid for his pumpout. Initially, I called his business number, leaving a message and then repeatedly called back only to get a recorded message. Soon after my last call, I called again using my cell phone with a different number. Mr. Miller immediately answered and we then had our conversation.

They showed up about 15 minutes late (which isn't bad at all), then got straight to work pumping the system ($250). I went outside to see what they were up to, and they were very kind in explaining everything to me, and gave me tips for how to keep my system operating properly. They encountered the PVC issue after the lid was off, and let me know quickly what the additional cost for that would be ($125), which I thought was fair. They sold me on some enzymes, which they said would help the system break down materials more quickly ($225 for 3 years worth). I read online that these didn't always work, but the dang system filled up completely in about 3.5 years, so I'm going to give it a try. They did a good job covering over where they had to dig up.

I called Miller's Septic after a referral from Greg (the owner's) brother, Brian's Septic. I was told my deck was built over the septic and had to have it removed before they could do anything. That was on a Tuesday. I had it removed Wednesday. Thursday they came back out and told me my lid was too large so they would have to have help and couldn't do that until Monday. By this time I had been without plumbing/washing capabilities in my house for nearly a week. They ASSURED me they would be out at 9:00 on Monday. At 11:00 WITHOUT SO MUCH AS LOOKING AT IT OR TRYING TO LIFT THEY LID they told me to call another Septic service. In other words, too much trouble in spite of the fact they had assessed the entire thing four days earlier. They could have told me then but NO...had me wait another four days to have two trucks (one not working, apparently) show up and a mere..."sorry, mam, call Apalachee Septic" and they were on their way. Greg the owner, who always answered calls prior to this hasn't answered one since. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

At the beginning, he promised a multitude of things he would do to get the job..all to enhance his posture in the bidding. 

Once the contract was signed, he demanded fifty percent down, then we did not see him for over a month. Once he did make it to the jobsite, it was hit and miss...he continually complained when contacted that he had business issues and couldn't make it out.  Finally, he subcontracted with a different firm to complete the house pad and driveway at the last possible moment--not even completing the driveway contract.  He then used promises with a subtotal invoice that the project was all but paid, if we paid it.  We paid, and then it took another month for him to complete the drainfield.  He DID NOT complete the drainage ditches, swales, or other additions he promised, and then hit us with ANOTHER 7500 dollar invoice at the end, claiming he had to add 14 additional loads of sand, which were never informed about, at 400 dollars per load.  Tom Katz of Miller Septic claimed the contract allowed them to add whatever they felt was neccssary  to complete the job...with no revision of the contract or explanation to the customer prior to execution.

Be VERY wary of this contractor!  He will pull you in with a hoard of promises, and then stick you at the end with not fulfilling half of them, while utilizing sneaky contract loopholes to overcharge for services.  he includes clauses that allow him to add numerous charges for materials that only he feels are necessary.  But in addition, his customer service is the lowest.  We had to revert to threaten him to come out and finish the job, or we would contract with someone else to finish it.  He was to install a simple septic tank and drain field, and it took him 5 months to complete!

It went well, just a little more expensive than I first thought. That was because the Laundry and Sink tank had never been pumped, so I could not fault the service provider.

I give him an “A”.  He did a great job.  He was professional.  We have met several times during the project and he was knowledgeable.

It went as scheduled. Great work. Fair price.

I actually called Apalachee Backhoe to come out and pump out my tank, and they said they could come the afternoon of the very same day I called. They quoted a price slightly lower than most places I had called, and the fact that they could come the same day was definitely a plus. As it turned out, Apalachee was too busy to come out that day and they sent Miller's instead. Miller's arrived right on time, had no trouble at all locating the tank (I knew where it was, but not where the access panel was), and was able to get it all pumped out without any problem at all. They filled the hole back in when they were done and there was no mess or destruction of the yard at all beyond the necessary digging up of the access panel. He also gave me some excellent suggestions for things I needed to do for my system and ways to help it live as long as possible. He answered all of my questions, was polite, thorough, and had a good sense of humor. I would definitely call on him again. They charged the same price I was quoted by Apalachee and the check was even made out to Apalachee, even though Miller's actually did the work.

I was very pleased. Their price was cheaper and they did a good job. They were $50 cheaper than the other quotes I received. I am very concerned about ruts in my yard but they had a long pipe that was 150 feet long and they parked on the pavement. They didn't do any ruts, which was important to me. I would absolutely use them again and I recommended them to my neighbor.

Our showers and toilets quit draining on 10/17. I went to Angie's List to research businesses in the area that could pump septic tanks AND do drainfield repairs based on their diagnosis of our problem. Based on member reports, I called Brian's Septic Service first, spoke with the owner and he said he would check who he had available to come out and call back. Brian called about five minutes later and said he didn't have anyone who could come out, but had gone ahead and called his brother Greg Miller who also has a septic service company. Brian said if I wanted he would have Greg call me about coming out. I said that was fine. I spoke with Greg about 30 minutes later and he said he could be out to the house in about 60 to 90 minutes. I don't know what time they actually showed up, but within 90 minutes of the phone call, his technician was at the door asking me to flush my toilet to see if the problem was solved. They had arrived and nearly completed the job before I even knew they were there! That is what I call customer service! Greg showed me the irrigation pipe that was directly over the septic lid and suggested that I have that moved over so that in the future it wouldn't be accidentally cut when we have the tank pumped again. The ground was a bit more torn up than I would have liked, but I chalk that up to having to work around the irrigation pipe, so that was not an issue. There was some "backwash" that came out of their suction hose when it was laying on the ground that i would have liked washed away, but the rain took care of that the next day. All in all, a very good job for the money.
