We had an awful experience with Kitch-encounters on our recent kitchen remodel. Our coordinator Cheryl was disorganized and unreliable which resulted in multiple delays/errors throughout the project. The actual work done was excellent, and that is thanks to the subcontractors used. Paul and Dex were wonderful to work with and we appreciate their professionalism. It’s unfortunate that we cannot recommend this company to all our friends and family who are now asking about the beautiful finished product. Based on the unprofessionalism and poor customer service we received, we will not be using Kitch-encounters for the rest of our remodeling plans or recommending them to anyone.

Everything went well until the counter tops were installed. The tops were not the pattern we had carefully selected. The response from our design consultant was that it was exactly what we picked out. The error was ours. She left KitchEncounters soon after. Shortly after, When we added a back splash, it was in the pattern we were sure we had ordered (so it does not match the counter top). Because our design consultant no longer worked there, they had to find the material in their computer records. After repeated calls and visits to the store, all with promises that something would be done, nothing has happened. We have been completely blown off.

It went well and looks great. There was some confusion when 2 crews showed up to work in the same room at the same time but it was worked out. and ended well. They started the first bathroom the Monday after Thanksgiving and finished the 2nd on on Dec. 29. THe crews kept the mess to a minimum and we were happy with all the crews that were used.

Excellent. Design Consultant Lance Conley provided expertise in all areas including designing the new layout, choosing colors, materials etc. He was patient and attentive to all our requests and helped keep costs in line. He regularly visited the project site and was easy to reach via email or phone..Kept us well informed on work crew scheduling etc. Each of the individual craftsmen ( cabinet installer, electrician, plumber, flooring, tile, granite installer, and general contracting crew were quite skilled and did excellent work. Work complete within 5 days of original schedule estimate(delay caused by Hurricane Hermine).
Response from Kitch-Encounters
"Thank you! Lance is pretty darn good at what he does at Kitch-Encounters! This was a great project, partly because the homeowner was great to work with, and partly because the "after" result was a big improvement on the functioning of the room! We can help with every aspect of a project, even if the work is not done by our company or our vendors. The plumbing connections and electrical work is not done by Kitch-Encounters - but we don't leave the homeowner to figure it out on their own somehow. We refer these parts of the project to crews who are experts and we work with them to plan and schedule the work. To complete this project several tradesmen had to work side-by-side. This process is what makes the completed work fit-together! Since this is always the case, we have a complete team of experts in their fields. We've worked with the same crew for years and we find that by doing the overall planning, we have a better than average chance of keeping on schedule! Mr & Mrs M. were really pleasant to work with and the result is another job that we are proud to have done! THANK YOU!"

They were the only people doing work at the house. Came home one day to find that some of my father's tools were missing. When I 'called them to the carpet', they became very defensive and rude. On another day, they stated they would be at the house at a certain time so I placed the garage door opener in the bushes. They never showed up and had the audacity to state that they came by to pick up the garage door opener yet it was still in the same place I had put it. During the entire process they talked down to me like I didn't know what I was talking about and tried to correct my construction terminology (maybe it was because I was a woman). Would stay clear from this company.

"Not Us? : This Reviewer might have made a mistake? The review dated 10/2016. It is stated that the work was completed 11/2011 - approximately 5 years ago? That is a long time between completing the work and posting the review. Sadly, according to the homeowner the project went badly - I'm sure that I would be unhappy if even 1/2 of that occurred in my home! If the homeowner has other information to help identify the project and we would really appreciate getting those details. Please contact us by phone. NEITHER Kitch-Encounters, nor any of its affiliates, have any record for doing work for the person representing this review with the published name. With the information we have, I can honestly state: Kitch-Encounters did NOT do this project. This doesn't sound at all like the way we do business. We continue to have full faith in all of our associates and we encourage homeowners to keep us informed during and after a job that we are involved with. THANK YOU The staff at Kitch-Encounters is, at this time - 3 women and 1 man. We work with female clients, perhaps more frequently than men, that is not because of any bias, it is just how it is!"

"This project was, indeed, an extensive one. I like this sentence best of all " End product is beautiful and exactly what we wanted." Yes, our installers are sub-contracted experts in their field. They are licensed and insured. They are independent businesses. We have worked with every one of them for many years. We are confident in the quality of their workmanship. Yes, we purchase products from manufacturers, companies that we have worked with for many years. Yes, sometimes mistakes are made, sometimes materials leave a factory that were not as specified, and schedules do require adjustment as a project progresses. That is the nature of construction. When the project "goes live" the coordination of the many elements of the job are under the eagle eye of our installers, our staff and above all or clients. We estimate a schedule based upon the expectation of nearly zero errors, nearly zero delays - and sometimes that is not the way it occurs. Kitch-Encounters takes the approach that if something is not right we fix it, if something flunks quality control we get that portion of the project re-done. All of our manufacturers, suppliers and installers understand that we are not done until it is right. If we pass along the information that we are given and situations change, then we have done what was needed and we have acted in good faith. Living in your home while construction is on-going takes enormous patience and flexibility...there is no other way to get it done. We are delighted when a long and difficult project delivers an end result that is beautiful and exactly what the homeowner wanted. Thank you to all of our clients who have given us feedback and allowed us the privilege and the opportunity to work with you to transform your space into something lovely and enjoyable."

So pleasant to work with such a professional. He presented multiple options with no pressure to pick any particular one. It was a very professional job done in a timely manner.
Response from Kitch-Encounters
"As always, we are pleased to hear feedback from our clients. Every project is important, not just to the homeowner, but to Kitch-Encounters too! Our designers strive to achieve the result that matches the expectation of the homeowner. It is really an art to make it all come together from so many possible options! The selection process is the key to getting it right. Open and clear communication and patience through the project are essential, we are glad to know that we have been able to help without putting on pressure! There are so many decisions to be made...and that is pressure enough for most every homeowner! In the end, our goal is to complete the job well, because it will outlast the entire design and installation efforts, and because you, the homeowner, make the final decision about our success!"

By the time I went to the Kitch-Encounters show room I had done extensive research and already knew what I wanted except for selecting the color of my new counter tops. The staff were very accommodating in allowing me to take my time and look at samples while answering my questions. The estimate was just a little under what my research had led me to expect to pay so I was pleased with that.
The gentleman who templated for the counter tops was very thorough as was the demo guy, the installers and the plummer. The counter top was fabricated perfectly and all in all I can not find anything to complain about with the counter tops. They are absolutely stunning and everything I hoped for. Kitch-Encounters made the process easy for me and even though there was a slight hiccup in scheduling one of the trades Jay worked a little overtime and made it right so I am extremely happy. Just hoping come tax return time I will have the money to do my bathrooms and will certainly use Kitch-Encounters for that project also!

"Thank you for the report about how we did on your project! The pictures tell the story. A little up-date makes a big difference. You can get a great result with a careful plan - you don't have to replace EVERYTHING to improve the look and function of your kitchen. Yours looks GREAT! Thanks for putting the pictures up. A fabulous result, especially when everyone works together, is not hard to achieve! It is still construction and sometimes there are hiccups, I like that description! We will always do everything to create a project that meets the expectations of the client. That's the essence of our job. The most important part of the process is getting the details clear from the start, taking time to make selections and asking questions! The second thing that is vital is communication during the process! This client was really well prepared and worked with us throughout the process. This homeowner, like all clients, was part of The Team – Jay & our installers were the other part! Good Job Everyone ! Thanks"

Kevin Murphy of Kitch Encounters was the designer and head of the project. He helped me pick out the tile, cabinetry and countertop. He came over and measured everything after I told him what we wanted to do. He came up with a proposal and cost and we signed the contract. Work was sceduled for 3 weeks later and began on time. Kevin was here at the beginning and most of the days the subcontractors were working. The project was finished on time - 3 weeks later. We had our garden tub removed, a wall moved and a doorless, walk in shower installed in place of the original tub and shower. Although the price was high, we received quality work in the time promised, which is worth a little more.
We are very pleased with the work and attention given to us. This is not the first time we have used Kevin at Kitch Encounters. He replaced our kitchen countertop with Cambria and granite on one occasion and built a wet bar and cabinets in our rec room on another. We were very pleased with both jobs which is why we chose them to do our bathroom.

"We really like what we do and that is why we are able to help homeowners and business owners get great results! It is a high compliment to be invited to do a second or third project in someone's home and we truly value the opportunity. Kitch-Encounters has several homeowners who we have worked with on one project after another, which is lot of fun for us. Every project is different and the time to completion depends upon how extensive the work and the materials selected, Kitch-Encounters does everything possible to minimize the disruption of the process. Our experience is a value-added feature - it is nice to know that it is appreciated. Thank you for your review, we have enjoyed working with you, as we hope you know!"

In 2013, we selected Kitch-Encounters to redesign our kitchen. The kitchen looks fabulous and functions much better than before. This year, we hired Kitch-Encounters to redo the master and guest bathrooms.
My husband and I are very happy with the results.
Lance Conley with Kitch-Encounters is a very good designer and his attention to detail matched our expectations.
He kept an eye on the work and if it was not up to our or his standards, he would make sure it was redone correctly. Lance is a real professional and a great asset to Kitch-Encounters.

"WOW ! Of course, you know, we are thrilled that you are happy with the results. We like the results too! It is always a pleasure to work with homeowners who communicate well with our staff to achieve a great result. Naturally, we always do our best! Absolutely, we keep tabs of all aspects of our projects! Still, hearing from the owner of the home or office where we are working is important to our success. These projects were particularly interesting and fun to complete! Thank you for your kind compliments! We'll see ya again soon!"

Experience was wonderful. Kevin kept me up to date every step of the way. Workmen appeared on time and did a great job of cleaning up. I would definitely use them again.

"This project was fun to do! It is always nice to be able to blend new materials with existing cabinets and successfully get the client what they want! Matching existing cabinets, or getting a close match, is not always possible. When it works we are as delighted and the homeowner - we love to solve the puzzle! Kitch-Encounters has experience with nearly any situation that you can imagine; including repairs after water-damage, finding more space by using designs that are not "off-the-shelf," even adding in special features to accommodate the family pet! We appreciate every opportunity and we are pleased when our results provide what the home or business owner needs and wants! Thank you"

We used Kitch-encounters for the quartz countertops in 2007. We were very happy with the service and price. They were very responsive to questions we had and detailed all costs thoroughly. In 2012, the adhesive holding clips that were installed under the counter to hold the dishwasher in place released. We finally called them in early 2013 to ask them how we should repair it and they came out to correct it at no charge.
Response from Kitch-Encounters
"The comments above are wonderful to hear! This is the way we do business. You are our client - calling calling us when you have a question or a concern is absolutely what we want you to do! THANK YOU. It is a privilege to be given the chance to take care any problems that occur. This situation was easily corrected and even long after the labor and installation warranty we were glad to help. Communication between homeowners, who are in a position to see what is happening, and suppliers ( like Kitch-Encounters and our sub-contractors ) is the best way to achieve a great and lasting result. With time and usage material may adjustments: some of them are very minor and easily done, others may be more complex, but the only way a supplier can attend to these situations is by getting information from the homeowner. Our advice: Don't hesitate to ask, Don't hesitate to call, Don't hesitate to communicate!"

In August of 2013 we had Kitch-Encounters of Tallahassee replace our old counter tops with granite and are very pleased with the entire process and the result.
I took our measurements into Kevin Murphy and he immediately made a drawing of the project and helped us pick out the type of granite from samples he had in the office. By the next day we had a detailed estimate.
We wanted a type of granite called Typhoon Bordeaux. Kevin worked with a granite company called Set in Stone in Valdosta to find two slabs of the granite and sent us a photo of the slabs by email for our review. My wife and I also went to Valdosta to see and approve the lovely granite in person.
Kevin is a skilled cabinetmaker and personally came to the house when the crew arrived to make the final measurements. He also personally removed the old counter tops and inspected the final job.
I was very impressed with the granite installation crew from Set in Stone. I was present and watched throughout the installation.
The crew spent a lot of time getting every exquisite detail just right and the final job looks fantastic. The pieces fit together so well that my wife couldn’t even find where the joints were.

"The process of getting new countertops is as important as what you select for the countertop! Without the kind of careful attention to details, as described above, the result is left to chance. Countertops should not be a gamble. At Kitch-Encounters we always do our best to control every variable - and there are plenty of them - because the very best result is our goal. The staff at Kitch-Encounters is aware that trusting us to complete your project is an important first step. We work closely with our clients, manufacturers, suppliers and installers - that is the way to get a fantastic result! Thank you for you comments, it is great to hear that you are as pleased with the work as we are!"

Fairly well. We have not done a lot of this type of work so we were surprised when the first completion date was not met (delay in cabinets ) and then the next 2 were not either. We were disappointed in the tile man choice of tile matches, but the quality of the work was good. The tile guy was let go after our job because of improper handling of his waste water.
We should have gotten more information about the style of fixtures in the shower. We advise all to review whether a fixture will control both temperature and the flow of water. Ours do not and to make any changes now would be about another $1000.
The cabinets and countertops are great. They will make things as right as they can.

"Thank you Construction projects are usually characterized by lots of details; coordinating materials, workers and the needs of the homeowner, particularly when the homeowner is occupying the home during the project! It is a team effort and it is always a pleasure to achieve a great result! A great result is always our goal and homeowners are very much a part of that process. Enjoy!"

They tried to charge me some charges that I don't think were correct. They tried to charge me $600 for 3 transitions. They did take the charge off, but if I didn't catch it would of been more.
Response from Kitch-Encounters
"Kitch-Encounters did the work on this project in 2009. The project included new kitchen cabinets and countertops, in addition to some related work and work in the laundry room. We provided and installed flooring. The total project was $ 24,000.00. The question raised in this review is about "transitions." Transitions are normally installed between rooms, particularly when the type of flooring changes from room to room, for example between a tile floor and a wood floor. They are also needed when the direction of the flooring changes from one room to the next. Transitions are most often used in doorways. Thus the name: transition. Transition moldings are a specialized component and when purchased to match the flooring and they are, sometimes, pricey. Transition moldings can be purchased from vendors other then the manufacturer of the flooring product. Unfinished moldings can be purchased and stained to match the installed flooring. The most predictable result is gotten by using the transition moldings made to fit with the flooring product being installed. Kitch-Encounters pricing includes transition moldings in the printed bid and contract before beginning a flooring project. Our clients get a detailed review of what they purchase before a project begins. In big projects there are a lot of details to review. Kitch-Encounters has a policy of providing clear and accurate estimates and contracts. Kitch-Encounters encourages homeowners to communicate with our staff whenever there are questions, concerns or situations that need our attention. On this project the client was credited the price of the transition moldings."

Visited their showroom and selected countertop style and finish. They offered many types of countertop material and we chose a Formica product that looks and feels like granite. Material delivery and countertop fabrication took 4weeks so do not rip out the old countertop until the new one is ready. Installation was performed when scheduled, done quickly and looks great.

Kevin came and measured for the wet bar and drew up plans. I picked out the style, wood and countertop. He was there at the beginning and end of the process. The sub contractors used were professional and timely. The next project, he measured for my kitchen countertops, I picked out the materials I liked. He came over when the old ones were removed and when the new ones were installed. The process took 2 days - one to remove the old ones and one to install the new ones.

I can't give them a good recommendation. I was dissatisfied with the sub contractors. I got the kitchen counters that were absolutely atrocious. They just didn't do a good job on putting them together. The sub contractor just ramped up things together at that time. I didn't know enough about it to really realize what it should look like. Now it is all coming apart. It seems like I am going to have to spend another $3000 to $5000 to get knew counters. I just got them three or four years ago. The two people that I dealt with were fine. They tried to help as much as they could. But the sub contractors screwed up. The price was reasonable. But looking back on it now, it seems different. The people that I dealt with from Kitch-Encounter were good, but their sub contractors were not good. When they left here they said that they wouldn't hire those people back again. They learned their lesson too. It did cost them some money because I had to get somebody come out here to scrub the tiles because they put sealing over everything. It cost them some extra money and so they weren't happy with me either.
Response from Kitch-Encounters
"It is unfortunate that we were not able to fully satisfy this homeowner - we certainly tried! As he mentioned we paid to have the tile flooring cleaned at his request. We were glad to have the opportunity to do that. The laminate countertops were installed in the kitchen and a bathroom for $ 2,235.00 - including removal and disposal of the existing counters - in 2007. We continue to have complete confidence in our laminate fabrication and installation team. ( And confidence in our hard-surfaces teams. ) The crew is professional, experience and very talented at their trade. It is their policy and the policy of Kitch-Encounters to complete each job to the satisfaction of our clients. When given the opportunity, we work hard to fulfill every reasonable expectation and correct any situation that is within the scope of the project. Our advice to homeowners is to always discuss your concerns with the company you are working with on a home or commercial project, part of what you purchase is the professional experience of the tradesmen. Still, construction is a team effort and your input is vital at every step of the way."

New Quartz Countertops installed by a great crew of real home grown English speaking professionals. The salesperson showed up on time and measured my counters and told me what to expect when the new ones would arrive. Less than two weeks later, my new Cambria counters were installed without a hitch. They arranged for the plumber to connect the sink and disposal the next day.(I now have a new plumber).Kitch-Encounters then installed a terrific stone backsplash that coordinated very well with my cabinetry and flooring. Although the quartz counters were expensive, I feel they increased the value of my home and I have no regrets with my decision about the product or with the people at Kitch-encounters. They did a great job!
