Over the years the periodic lawn service was done monthly in winters, and twice-monthly from spring through autumn, in which he and his helpers mowed and mulched the large lawn.  As needed, he  provided, at reasonable additional cost,  other services, such as pruning dozens of azalea bushes biennially after bloomtime, and assorted shrubs and trees as needed.  In 2010, he also carried out my landscape plan to convert a section of overgrown shrubs and shady lawn on one side of my property into a large  garden with flowering shrubs and trees.  In other sections of the yard, as directed, he planted trees and shrubs, trimmed tree limbs, occasionally cut down small to medium-sized trees, blew leaves from the roof of the house and screened pool, hauled away yard trash to the street, and other trash not suitable for mulch to the dump. 
Occasionally I would advance him money needed for special equipment rental or repairs, which he always paid back in timely fashion with promised services.  I consider him to be  competent, dependable, scrupulously honest and ethical in his business, and charitable in his personal life, since  he was active not only in supporting his local church, but often in providing help to those in need in his native country of Haiti.

I have had him for about 20 years.  I have about two acres of lawn and he maintains it.  He also does other landscaping jobs.  He is very trust worthy and courteous.  Sometimes you need to explain things in great detail.  He does charity work.  I would definitely use him in future and recommend him
