We've now found the perfect color and I just go in and let her decide what needs to be done - roots, highlights, overall color, cut, etc. I'm extremely pleased and I would recommend her services.
Also, William at the front desk is super hilarious and friendly. He was the one who suggested Heather to me, also.
the hairdresser. My stylist was doing color on 2 persons at the same time. My color was left on for about 20 minutes too long. I reminded her twice but she insisted that is how long she always leaves my color on. I ended up having my face break out in hives and having sores on my scalp. I generally get eyebrows and lip waxed but she was too busy to ask about that. I feel that such an expensive salon should pay more attention to their customers and not over book. At their prices you deserve the full attention of your stylist.
In a previous visit the wrong color was put on me and not discovered for about 20 minutes. I ended up having to have it redone which took an extra hour or so. They had a red dye on me rather than the brown I always get. The color did not look right when I left. I was charged full price for this visit. I think the salon should have picked up the cost for their error.
I have since changed hair salons.
My wife’s dealings with Haute Headz were the worst salon experiences of her life, and she still cries when she looks in the mirror. Haute Headz not only did a horrendous job with both the color and highlights (changing her beautiful brown hair to black with pink streaks) but damaged her previously healthy hair so badly that it’s now like straw and falling out in clumps and butchered the cut to the point that she lost five inches of length in patches and I looks like she has two different heads of hair. This all began when, after ten years with another Tallahassee salon, my wife decided to try Haute Headz because her previous salon’s switch to Aveda products meant that they could not give her the burgundy color they had given her in previous years. She walked into Haute Headz in October of 2012 with silky, healthy, extremely long medium brown hair that the stylist, Laura, told both of us was in and quot;excellentand quot; condition. My wife clearly explained that she wanted her long hair only “lightly trimmed” with “long layers” at the ends. Instead, Laura hacked off a huge chunk of hair, at least five inches in length, in one straight line all the way across, from one side to the other. There are no blended layers between the short section and the longer bottom section so the result is that it looks like my wife has two separate heads of hair. She says that it’s by far the worst haircut of her life, and it looks as if it was cut with a hedge trimmer. Also, my wife asked for a burgundy color she’s had before, showed Laura photos, and picked out a burgundy color swatch from the samples that Laura showed to us. However, Laura then insisted that she first had to dye my wife’s hair to and quot;one base color, and quot; despite her hair already being one consistent color except for some gray roots. Laura then proceeded to dye my wife’s hair jet black (we have many before and after photos that show this dramatic color change). When the burgundy didn’t show up on black hair we were then told that it was because her hair was “too dark” and that we’d have to pay to have the dark color stripped away, the very color that Laura had chosen to apply for reasons that we still don’t understand. Long story short, after four sessions at Haute Headz/with Laura trying to get the mistakes corrected – including having to deal with the added insult of being charged for procedures that we wouldn’t have had to have performed if the stylist hadn’t made mistakes and caused damage to begin with -- my wife’s once healthy and in and quot;excellentand quot; condition hair is now fried to a straw-like texture and is so badly damaged that it’s falling out in clumps; the cut is butchered and cost her five inches of hair; and her brown hair is now black with irregularly applied pink “highlights” that were primarily added to the section of her hair that is five inches shorter, making it even more obvious that she has two completely different heads of hair due to the butchered cut. It will take at least two years for the length to grow back and the damage to be repaired, and in the meantime she can’t have the color corrected until the hair is in better shape. For these reasons, as well as others there isn’t space to cover, we cannot in good conscience recommend this unprofessional and overpriced salon ($524.88 for the first three sessions alone), and we will certainly not make the mistake of going there again.
