With no other options, I got estimates for mold removal and after being shocked by the prices, I decided to go under the house and look at it myself. It was not mold, it was clearly dust that was wet. I cleaned up the unit and requested that Donny's come back out and look at it after explaining to them it wasn't mold and that I cleaned it. They then determined a part wasn't working and would need to be replaced. After replacing the part, the A/C unit worked properly but they never tested the heat. I never thought to test the heat after they serviced the A/C. Now it's winter time and I need my heat. When I tried to use it, it was blowing unheated air and never warmed the house. I called Donny's to follow up on it and they refused to consider this a related issue and wanted to charge me just to look at it. I can't believe they don't honor their work and follow up on issues that arise from something they did. My heater was working perfectly before they serviced my A/C and is now not working at all and they refuse to even look at it to determine why it's now not working. I will be warning friends to avoid Donny's as they do not stand behind their work.
With this in mind, when the unit starting acting up, we called them. The unit was truly died, and my husband decided enough was enough...a new one had to be installed. Donny gave us an estimate to replace the compressor and air handler....installation, any changes/modification needed, etc. of $5,500.00. We had checked around regarding the price of this brand, size, and installation and felt this was a fair price...not cheap, but not bad. Also, he could have the work done on the next work day...which was our preference! Donny gave us the estimate and said the technician would be at our house about 9:00 AM.
The technicians arrived at 9:00 AM...we were amazed! They got right to work, no talking, smoking, breaks, etc. They took good care to protect the flooring inside the house and were very polite and pleasant. What a delightful surprise! This was not the first time we had to deal with vendors and technicians. Our past experiences had taught us that the workers could be sketchy, late, and not terribly inclinded to do their best work. Oh...they were finished with everything and gone by noon!!
The next surprise was how quickly they installed, tested, and cleaned up the house and outside work locations. At this point, I wouldn't have been to upset if the actual cost was a little more than the estimate...but...another surprise. The estimate was $5,500.00....the actual bill at the end of the installation...$5,500.03. THREE CENTS DIFFERENCE!!! My husband was so shocked and delighted he could barely write the check!
We will definitely work with this business again...hopefully not for a long time to come. We will tell everyone we know about our very good experience with Donny's!
Again...thank you Donny and guys. Oh...the system has been put throught its paces with the crazy fluctuations of temperature and has performed like a champ!
