you are told you will wait one hour in waiting room and another half hour to hour in exam room
this type of office does not work for me and my time is valuable
On the morning of the procedure, my name was called and the desk staff said that I would have to pay $170.00 right then and there - before the procedure. I told them I had talked with the Business office, and that I had already paid the amount they said I would owe.
The Desk Staff said they didn't know anything about it and that I would have to pay the $170.00 prior to the procedure.
Since I was already there, and already had prepped with the solutions etc. I wrote a check for the $170.00 and went into the procedure. I was perturbed at that time because I wanted to get the fees out of the way ahead of time. What were these fees for?
The Desk Staff simply said I had to pay and quot;firstand quot; -- period.
Two weeks after the procedure, I got another bill for $200.00. What? I called the business office the next day and was told that this was a separate fee, an extra fee because of a prior condition. This prior condition was over 20 years earlier and the business office knew of it as I talked to them about it during my initial conversation.
The final insult was that they refused to offer any explanation as to why these extra fees could not have been configured into the equation. My feeling here is that this office tacks on fees and most patients just pay it without question. It is outrageous that such is the case when every care is taken to get the fees paid ahead of time. And, using some excuse about insurance is not acceptable as the business office should have a handle on the processes of Blue Cross Blue Shield. This is not some obscure insurance and their policies are very well established.
I feel very strongly that there are some irregularities here and that the Clinic is simply not owning up to them. And then they use their power to make collections and derogatory remarks on the credit report. The patient has little power to fight back on this and simply are pawns to a system that is geared to take advantage of its patients.
Even after seven years of trying to get to the bottom of it, I had no luck and had to pay. I will never go back there. I don't trust them!
to download forms to fill out and bring to the appointment.
When I arrived for my appointment, they took the forms and I was led back to an
examination room within 15 minutes where a nurse asked questions and
took notes. About a half hour later, Dr Paulk came in and asked
questions. He seemed like he really cared for me as a patient. After
the discussion and a brief exam, he stated that he thought I had not
been bleeding, but to be sure, he wanted to do an upper endoscopy. The
nurse came back and scheduled it for the following Friday. I was given a
handout explaining the procedure and telling me not to eat after
midnight the night before or drink any liquids 3 hours before the
procedure.
On the day of the procedure, I arrived and was almost
immediately taken to a room where a nurse asked several questions about
my current health, allergies, etc. I was sent back to the waiting room
where I waited for and empty bed. I was then told to take off my shirt
and any jewelry and shoes and put on their booties and a gown. The
nurse put me in a bed and started an IV. 20 minutes later, I was
wheeled into the OR where Dr. Paulk asked me some of the same questions
and explained what he was going to do. They then knocked me out and I
awoke sometime later in the recovery room. Dr. Paulk was there when I
awoke and told me that everything was OK. He gave me a report on the
procedure and the results.
All in all this was a very professional undertaking and everyone involved with my visits was friendly and informative and I felt very well cared for the entire time.
"I am glad to hear you both had a pleasant visit to our office. Thank you for the feedback."
