Description of Work: He met with us to replace and expand our very long driveway, listened to our concerns, gave us great suggestions on how to improve our driveway, and gave us a very fair estimate.

+ -1 moreEverything went well from estimation to project completion. I can not say enough good things about Mr. White! He is extremely thorough and a consummate professional. I could not be happier with the work he did and feel very fortunate to have been able to hire him!
Description of Work: This job involved removal of a disintegrating brick patio, creation of a new foundation, pressure washing and masonry repair, pouring concrete slabs and wheel chair ramp installation. So A lot of flexibility and thought were required to delivery a sound and esthetically pleasing and sound result!

+ 0 moreWorking with Curtis White to replace our broken up asphalt driveway was a pleasure! He was responsive to our questions, calls and texts and the new driveway is even nicer than we could have imagined! The old driveway was destroyed by tree roots. Mr. White and his team worked exceptionally hard to get all the offending roots removed. Mr. White works side by side with his team, so he was available anytime we had questions. His team members are skilled, conscientious, and show pride in their work. The process took 3 days and it was fascinating to watch the old driveway be taken apart and hauled off and the new driveway installed. We were especially impressed with the skills and masonry knowledge that went into creating a lovely new entrance to our home. I would strongly recommend anyone looking at having a driveway, patio, or other masonry work done on their home to call Curtis White Masonry!

+ 1 moreThe mortar on the bricks went well. Nice, neat work. He asked if there was other work to be done. I then asked for some holes in my concrete driveway to be filled. Curtis told me the color wouldn't match, but I wanted the holes filled in and gave him the go ahead. The mortar was not the idea substance to fill in for concrete. The mortar was more gray than the concrete, so the repairs there were not as professional looking. The repairs have held up well and I would use him again. But I would stick with repairs to brickwork.
Description of Work: I noticed some cracks in the brickwork above an archway, and wanted to have it repaired. I saw there was a special for the work on Angie's List, so I signed up. Curtis filled in the crack, and found other mortar work to do on my brick house as well.

+ -1 moreMy only contact with Mr. White was to look at my driveway and tell me how much it would cost to resurface it. He told me I had an expensive, and extensive, job and it would cost $5,200 (approx.) . He presented himself as a professional man, and when he was running late for my appointment, he called ahead to ask if that was alright. He seems to be a very busy man. I would have had him do the job if I could have afforded the cost. Keep in mind that I was forced to come up with a QUALITY response to an above survey question although Mr. White had not done a job that I could truthfully answer.

Description of Work: tuck-pointing brick steps. Contrator initially failed to establish direct communication or confirmation of appointment. Then required pressure wash although steps had been pressure washed a month before. Actual tuckpointing took less than 4 hours a couple days later. No breakdown of additional $225 charge. Result with mortar on bricks and joints not uniform doesn't look professional.

Description of Work: It took several calls to get Mr. White to my home. I asked him if he could make a two brick steps going into the house from my garage using brick i already had. He said he could. Once he was hired to do work he was suppose to show up at approx 9 in the morning. He didnt get to my house until about 4. He told me he was tired. The job turned out terrible. i asked several other professionals to look at the job, telling them that the brick was not all the same and their comment was aways the same, it was terrible job. One said even if the bricks were not the same that was just an overall terrible job. There was mortor left all over the brick to dry, the brick was never acid washed or cleaned up, and the areas between the brick were not even and done sloppy. His explaination for all of it was that it was my fault because the brick i gave him was not all the same. And "it was the best job i could do with what i had to work with." Only after we argued on the phone and several promises to come back did he finally come and acid wash the brick. There is no way you will convince me the lousy job he did was strickly due to the brick. Im stuck with it. It made such a bad impression i will not use him for any concrete work i was going to have done. anyone who is thinking of using him for any brick work come see mine first.

+ 2 moreI had a problem with water standing in an area of my back yard. I contacted Curtis White to put in a concrete walkway thinking that would solve the problem by raising the walkway and sloping the ground away from the walkway. Mr. White said a french drain would solve the problem, so he dug out red clay, hauled in gravel and sand and topped it off with top soil. He also added a nice walkway beside the french drain which I covered with sod. I am pleased with the final outcome and water doesn't stand in that area any more. Mr. White is a mason and I am very grateful to him for putting in the french drain. He could have referred me to someone else for that job and returned to install the walkway but he did it all saving me time and money.
Description of Work: I had a drainage problem I thought could be fixed with a walkway. Mr. White said I needed a french drain so he put one in and also made a walkway.
