Chris is a very skilled painter but a non professional business person. Prior to beginning the job we agreed on a price. He told me the job would take 3-4 days to complete. Two weeks later and the job still has not been completed even though I have paid in full more than the amount we originally agreed to. On day two, one of his workers accidentally broke the pipe that feeds water to my house. I was without water for over a week when I ultimately had to hire someone else to fix the pipe because the person Chris said would do the job did not show up to make the repairs. The second person he assigned did not show up until over a week later - after I had already gotten the repairs done. I asked Chris to reimburse me for the repairs and he refused. On day four, the job was almost complete with the exception of inside molding, outside trim work and touch ups that he said we would do the next day. He then told me that I owed him an additional $450. I reluctantly paid him the additional amount and the remainder of the contract because I just wanted the job done. He left that day and I have not seen him since. That was over 10 days ago. Each time I text/call him he tells me that I need to be patient and he will get back to me. Many sunny days have passed and no Chris. I am still waiting for him to complete the job. Additionally, he arranged to have one of his workers do the trim work inside the house. That person arrived late one afternoon and was therefore not able to finish the job he was paid to do. I informed Chris of this fact and was told that I was on my own to work it out with the worker. Summarily, if you choose to use his services consider doing three things - 1 - Get a contract in writing stating specifically that there are no additional charges 2- If anything is broken - get it fixed yourself - provide him with a copy of the bill and deduct the amount from his contract amount 3- DO NOT PAY UNTIL THE ENTIRE JOB IS DONE
