CABINETS BY LEMAY

Worst experience we have ever encountered. From the beginning, the sales person, Lemay Nelson, was sloppy and disorganized. However, we felt the price point and cabinet color offering was worth the trouble dealing with her and she made promise after promise that everything would be fine and she never had any problems before. Once we formally decided to go forward and gave her our deposit, she forgot to place the order. Consequently, she missed the original install date we requested causing our cabinet install to be delayed another 3 weeks. Once the cabinets were received, she never inspected them to verify correctness. Had she done this, new cabinets could have been re-ordered in plenty of time to make the second choice install date. The cabinets were the wrong color and one of the boxes was the wrong size altogether (easy problems to catch). Instead, we were left to discover the problem. While the installer was on time for the install, he showed up without the cabinets. They showed up almost two and a half hours late. Once delivered, we inspected them and discovered the wrong color. We immediately called Lemay Nelson who then insisted on moving forward with the install stating that they would be fixed or replaced once she contacted the manufacturer. Don't make this mistake----Never ever accept or install anything if it is not correct. Never trust anything Lemay Nelson or Legacy Cabinets promises to do. In summary: We were left without a kitchen for almost 3 months...our family of four ate 2014 Thanksgiving dinner at Steak n Shake. Financially, we spent more than $12,725 on the total cabinet job that once installed will not match completely. We missed over 217 hours from work, faced numerous delays and re-schedules with our cabinet contractor, counter top installer, electrician and plumber because we had to stop and start repeatedly due to incomplete items. John Agnew, the owner of Legacy Cabinets, had zero concern for us or any interest in the damages they caused us (ironically he claims to be active in Christian ministry). We also recently discovered a colleague at work who also suffered the misfortune of hiring Legacy cabinets, with a similar horror story, so we are not the first. We were also told numerous times by contractors, carpenters, cabinet dealers, designers and realtors that Legacy Cabinets has a long history of botched install jobs and dissatisfied customers. We hope our review saves you the same trouble. We wanted to end the relationship once Lemay became belligerent, and start all over again with someone new. However, they refused to refund our money and take away the defective cabinets without charging us a penalty fee of $1,600 to pay for their error. We are contemplating filing a legal claim, and will decide before the end of the year.
