Our general contractor did the research--including asking insurance adjusters for recommendations. He found Residential Elevators. Bill Key, the local representative for Residential Elevators, Inc., came to our home to help us decide where we could best locate the elevator. He walked the entire house, looked at the design of the house, and made a wonderful suggestion.
Bill Key and the general contractor met at our home to discuss how the equipment would fit into the design. At that time, Bill provided the construction specifications to accommodate the equipment and the hoist way. The general contractor engaged an architect, pulled the permits, and completed the framing of the hoist way.
Bill returned, took all the measurements, sent them to the company's central location. The company then custom built the elevator to fit those measurements exactly, delivered all the components, and sent their installers to complete the job. The installation took 2 and 1/2 days. The installers were expert, efficient, immaculate, related well to our pets, and their work was precise. The installers gave us a briefing on how to use the unit including the telephone , showed us all the safety features, gave a demonstration, and left laminated instructional sheets in duplicate. We were able to use the elevator immediately. They cleaned up all their work areas, and I didn't have to do a thing!
Bill returned to check out the installation and give us further instructions.
The unit is beautiful! The cost of $17,500.00 includes 3 doors rather than the conventional 2 doors. This allowed us to fit the unit into our home's design so that it looks like it has always been here, rather than an "old, sick people's retrofit". The telephone is built in and connected to our land line. It is flush with the wall of the elevator. Gorgeous! We are pleased beyond our expectations!
Because of the quality of the equipment, the look of it, and the cost, our neighbors are using the same company.
