We picked Hi-Vac for installation of a new mini-split a/c unit. It was the right choice. Apart from an excellent price, they scheduled an early installation date, showed up on time, did a fine installation and cleaned up well. In addition, the two techs were really nice guys.

My experience was good overall. They are a bit pricey, but the service is good quality. I had installed an I-wave system, corrected the AC drain and had a custom made filter enclosure with filters for a year. Very happy with the provided products and services.

The service person replaced the part on my 4 year old Rheem Air Handler after 2 other air AC companies told me they would not do it because of the location in the attic. They suggested to relocate the air handler. I was more than pleased when the service tech, who by the way showed up on time, inspected the Air Handler, and told me "sure we can repair it." It is in a tight spot but i can do it. The repair was at an additional cost because of the location and difficulty but I was more than please to pay it. A few things stand out abut my experience with the company: 1) Friendly and responsive when I called to request service. 2) Showed up when they said they would 3) Technician was very knowledgeable and assured me he would whatever it took to get it repaired. 4) Kept me informed about everything he was doing I would definitely recommend this company.

We were very satisfied with their professionalism, reliability and quality of service. We made the decision to hire HI-VAC based on their excellent communications, their detail quote that included the model numbers, and the fact that they are a Trane Distributor. In addition, the company had good customer reviews and the right accreditations such as the Better Business Bureau, ACCA, FPL contractor, Trane Comfort Specialist, and the NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification. Unbeknown to us, we found out they also install A/C units for Home Depot. HI-VAC sent two of their own employees to do the split system installation. They do not subcontract the work. Their employees came on time and did a proper installation. They were courteous and professional; cleaning up after the project was completed. What we liked about HI-VAC is that they took care of all the paper work, including the rebates. They made the inspection appointments with FPL and with the City and obtained the permit as required by law. They also registered our new equipment to ensure we got the 10 year manufacturers warranty (instead of 5 years) and emailed us proof. There were many other items included in the scope of work, which would be too much to list here. Suffice is to say is that HI-VAC did a quality installation! On a scale of 1 to 10, they get a 10! Included in the contract is the follow up on the A/C unit installed within the year. In the meantime, we hope this new A/C unit performs as well as the last one we had for more than 15 years.

I was told The unit needed Freon ( or refrigerant ) Of course I said OK. So a $ 89.00 check up cost $ 263.00 and unit still has the same problem. I called and e mailed and the response was Oh, you need a check up that will be $ 89.00 ( again) So,I will have to get another company that backs up their work.

We currently have a 5 ton 21 seer fairly new air conditioner.  Our house is about 2,800 square feet and we had hot spots in our bedroom and children's bedrooms that were on the far ends of the house.  After having our usual service people over several times the only solution we came to was to put in ductless split systems in the rooms.  I went out to several companies to get a quote.  They had their sales people come out and after looking around came to the conclusion that it was necessary. (About a 10k investment).

Peter from Hi-Vac came in and disagreed.  After looking at our system he did not think these systems were necessary.(saving us about $8,500 in the process)  After spending about 45 minutes checking everything out he saw mold around the plenum in the garage (how the others missed it just goes to show the big name companies are not of the highest quality)  He also redirected the air flow to the bedrooms and last night we all got a really good night's sleep.  The job took almost all day and his team was very professional and thorough. It was refreshing to see a company that really takes pride in their work.  I wish I could post this on top of the Angie's list air conditioning search so other people do not lose out on such a good experience.

Thanks Peter, we appreciate the effort and quality of your work.

Hivac installed a complete new Trane A/C system at my investment property. Six months later, the unit began blowing warm air, so I called them and they quickly sent a tech out. The tech misdiagnosed the issue and wanted to charge me to run a new copper line because he stated the leak was in the existing copper line running beneath the foundation. Do to my knowledge of how A/C systems work and the history of the original unit, I was skeptical, so decided to get a second opinion knowing full well that this could potentially void my warranty. Sure enough, the leak at the evaporator coil in the new unit and not in the copper line as Hivac stated. The next day, I called and spoke to the owner and informed him as to what the issue really was. I understand that it could have been an honest mistake, however, his response was disappointing. Nonetheless, he sent out the same tech that same day and replaced the coil under warranty.

I had a service window from 10am to 1:30 pm that I scheduled a few days prior.  I was told that I would receive a phone call when the technician was 30 minutes away.  I understand that his arrival can be anywhere within that time frame but I would expect someone from the company to call me if they are running late.  I initiated a call to their company and spoke with an answering service that stated they would relay my information, since I was concerned that I did not receive any phone call from the technician around 1:15.  I eventually received a phone call from the on-call technician who advised that my technician would be late.  He eventually arrived after the original appointment window.  Understandably, some jobs go longer than others but  at least have the courtesy of calling the customer to advise them, especially when they have taken leave from work to have the appointment.
Once the technician arrives, I explained to him that I wanted to upgrade my Trane Communicating thermostat with a newer Honeywell Prestige IAQ.  He immediately informs me that my system can ONLY work with the current thermostat or the newer Trane branded thermostat.  I informed the technician that from what I understand if you install the BAYACHPO024A  in the outside unit, it converts the Trane to 24 VAC.  He assures me this is not possible so I didn't debate the issue with him further and he says, "Let me write your invoice".  So a 3 minute conversation, without looking at my unit, checking to ensure that everything is at least in working order cost $89.00.  I was truly disappointed in his response and had to ask him to at the very least check my Freon levels, which I'm not sure he even performed.  Long story short.  I contacted this company thinking they were knowledgeable about Trane systems but the technician was mis-informed.  It clearly states on Page 5 of my Installer Guide from Trane "WHEN CONVERTING OUTDOOR UNIT TO 24 VAC MODE, USE 24 VAC HARNESS ACCESSORY (BAYACHP024A).  I will be looking for another company that knows the inner workings of my A/C system to have the job completed.

For any installers that reads this review and are certified Trane Technicians.  Here is a VIMEO link to what I wanted accomplished which took all of about 5 minutes to change over the outdoor unit.  http://vimeo.com/36430121   I know it says American Standard, but most people know they are synonymous with Trane.

Identified the problem and fixed it immediately without trying to sell me a new unit. I don't like pushy salesmen. The technician were very polite and punctual. When I do buy a unit I will call this company first for an estimate.

6 years ago we replaced our air conditioner with a new energy efficient Trane and bought an extended warrenty. The blower motor, module and thermostat all had to be replaced, which all parts were covered under the extended warrenty. However, we had to pay for labor. $ 652.00!! Alberto, the employee who did all the work was prompt and efficient. The A/C is working well now. Just not real happy about the labor charge.
