When Doug Compara first started our project  his work and his ideas were great!  I was very good to this man and his helper.  I gave them Kitchen cabinets, a T.V. Cabinet for his sister's law office, TV and Stereo componets for his helper, Mo. There were times when they had worked especially hard and I gave them both hefty tips. 
 
 Doug Compara is a liar, a quitter and he stole $ 2,700.00 to pay, with my check, a balance to Glass Professionals for a store front next door to the Lyric Theatre.  I believe that Mr. Greene, the man who owns the store was probably charged as well. I was called by Dave, who owns the Glass Professional and he said that he couldn't figure out why I would have paid someone elses Invoice.  I was told that Doug Compara said that he didn't know either.  Well, I guess not  and I wouldn't have paid it if Doug hadn't told me it was mine.
  I didn't know and was told, by Doug Compara, that this large bill was for my replacement windows in the two Master Bath Showers.  I replied that I thought they were very expensive and actually cost more than the sliding doors. When I emailed him in 2012 and said that apparently he had made an error and to please settle with a check to me in th e amount of $2700.00 he did not respond and so I emailed him again.  I have never heard from him again.

Doug projected that he would complete construction in 7 months and take up to 3 months to complete his punch list and get all permits approved.   Doug started off good but since I was out of town while the construction was going on he begin to drag  the job out.  After 18 months he walked off the job.  The punch list was never completed so I had to complete it and pay for the services again.  We experienced water in the window sills but Doug never showed up to correct so I attempted several times to have that issue corrected.  Doug built the front gate and columns without a permit and out of compliance.  The City refused to issue a permit but said I could file for a variance which Doug refused to do.  I filed the variance but the request was denied so the wall and column have to be modified to meet ordinances.  I took Doug before the Contractors Review Board and they cited Doug and forwarded the findings to the State.   
 
This past summer stucco started falling off the walls.  We had a forensic engineer assess and issue a report.  The conclusion was that the stucco was installed improperly.  This has caused paint to fade and flake off the walls and has allowed water to seep through the walls behind the stucco which has caused cracks and the house was not stuccoed behind decks and stairs nor sealed against the balcony.   I have initiated a suit against Doug and his insurance company.  There was also a roof leak and Doug would not get involved but I was able to get the roofer to resolve  that problem.
