The whole process went well. The technician Michael arrived on time and started right in on the installation. He was super courteous and worked hard while at the same time trying to keep the area very clean and not cluttered. I love my new unit and my water tastes so much better than before, it's an amazing difference!! I know my family will drink a lot more water now and I only wished that I had called them sooner... they are a great company and Michael was a wonderful technician.

Serviceman Tim Marchionne examined old non-functioning reverse osmosis and made recommendation to replace both on site, as parts for both units now are no longer available (15+ years old)

They forgot to turn a valve back on; so we had no water for two hours until they came back to turn it on.

I bought a house in southwest Florida and I've been remodeling it, and I got in touch with this guy who owns the franchise, Donovan Dunlap. We were corresponding for six months beforehand because I wanted to see what would need to be done when they get here to make sure everything would be ready for them. He kept asking me for a 50% deposit, even though it was six months in advance. I asked when he thought it would be a good time to come down and install the system and he said they could do it in two trips, then he changed his mind and said they would do it in one trip. I waited until the last minute, then I said I was ready for them to come install the system. He let me choose what kind of faucet I wanted, I picked a faucet and he approved it. They came on Wednesday and installed the system. When they connected the system to the faucet it started making a loud thumping noise. He said he would have to come back to fix it. There was a line that went from the fridge to the system and it wasn't the correct size, and this would have been an extra cost to me to repair it, and I would have had to pay him on the spot to correct it. He never mentioned this during the six months when we were corresponding because he wanted the deposit so he wouldn't give me that basic information. He could have said that I had to use a particular line which would have eliminated this problem. When I called to ask about this they said it was all my fault because I wouldn't put down the 50% deposit months ago. He was rude and wouldn't return my calls. I asked them to leave and take all his stuff and he wants to charge me around $570.00 for labor and the trip charge even though it isn't working right. I asked him to take the system away because I don't want to deal with this guy anymore. The problem has nothing to do with the system or the technician, but the person who owns the franchise. The owner said we have to use a particular faucet or else there would be problems, and he blamed me for picking a different faucet even though I was never made aware of this. He has a terrible attitude, and does not know how to deal with customers. I would not recommend this company to anyone, while the company is run by Donovan Dunlap.
Response from Atlantic Coast Water
"The equipment Ms. (removed member name) chose is a high volume reverse osmosis system which requires specific size distribution lines. It is the policy of Atlantic Coast Water to require a commitment deposit before we do any design work with the contractor to insure that we have the correct installation requirements. Ms. Saylor was reminded of this need several times during the remodeling process and chose not to pay a commitment to purchase our system with a deposit, therefore no predesign consultation with the contractor was completed. The contractor installed ¼” lines instead of the 3/8” lines necessary for the unit Ms. Saylor chose. Atlantic Coast Water had no access to the property prior to the she requested the installation. She was informed the day of the installation that there would be some problems, but she wanted the system installed regardless. After the installation Ms. Saylor insisted we correct the problem that was not due to any work done by Atlantic Coast Water. Since we did not install the original lines to the icemaker or provide the faucet, we informed her that there would be an additional charge to correct a problem that could have been prevented had we been involved during the construction phase. Ms. Saylor refused to pay for the corrections and wanted us to remove the system. We agreed to remove the system; however since the problems were not caused by Atlantic Coast Water or the equipment, there would be a labor charge and 20% restocking fee because we would have to replace the filter cartridges that we could not resell, since they were now used. We do not ask for a deposit just so we can get money in advance. We ask for a deposit because we will need to spend time and money in the design. This is standard operating procedure for most companies where advanced work is required before the actual installation of equipment."
