Tim the repairman was on time. he explained the above. he finished the job in a reasonable amount of time and left a clean job site
"The equipment Ms. (removed member name) chose is a high volume reverse osmosis system which requires specific size distribution lines. It is the policy of Atlantic Coast Water to require a commitment deposit before we do any design work with the contractor to insure that we have the correct installation requirements. Ms. Saylor was reminded of this need several times during the remodeling process and chose not to pay a commitment to purchase our system with a deposit, therefore no predesign consultation with the contractor was completed. The contractor installed ¼” lines instead of the 3/8” lines necessary for the unit Ms. Saylor chose. Atlantic Coast Water had no access to the property prior to the she requested the installation. She was informed the day of the installation that there would be some problems, but she wanted the system installed regardless. After the installation Ms. Saylor insisted we correct the problem that was not due to any work done by Atlantic Coast Water. Since we did not install the original lines to the icemaker or provide the faucet, we informed her that there would be an additional charge to correct a problem that could have been prevented had we been involved during the construction phase. Ms. Saylor refused to pay for the corrections and wanted us to remove the system. We agreed to remove the system; however since the problems were not caused by Atlantic Coast Water or the equipment, there would be a labor charge and 20% restocking fee because we would have to replace the filter cartridges that we could not resell, since they were now used. We do not ask for a deposit just so we can get money in advance. We ask for a deposit because we will need to spend time and money in the design. This is standard operating procedure for most companies where advanced work is required before the actual installation of equipment."
