Mitchell Roofing Company LLC

We trusted the wrong company. We signed a contract with Mitchell Roofing, but they abandoned our project and failed to contact us for nearly five months. No schedule was ever confirmed, no materials were delivered, and no work was performed. Now, after months of silence, they are demanding over $12,000 and threatening litigation — despite doing nothing to fulfill their contractual obligations. Since reviewing the project more closely, we’ve also discovered issues in other documents that raise concerns about their practices and professionalism. Unfortunately, it seems we’re not alone — their pattern of poor communication and lack of accountability is reflected in other customer reviews as well.

We suffered hurricane in '22 which required a roof replacement. We set up multiple requests for estimates, wanting to get a fair price as well as have the job done with a feeling of security. Mitchell Roofing was our fist appointment scheduled, in which Scott came out, and all I can say is I was completely impressed by the profound amount of knowledge and professionalism that he displayed when doing our estimate. He was patient with us, answered all of our questions, and even gave us answers that we did not ask question for. He explained the process in a way that gave us not only hope for a resolution to our roofing issue but also made us feel so completely comfortable as if we had known him for some time. He was prompt and well prepared. Two estimates after, were nothing short of disappointing. Thankfully we chose Mitchell and we're completely overjoyed and satisfied as work was completed quickly as Marcelino's Crew were prompt, professional, and did an excellent job! Thank you!!!!!

Extremely hard to contact or work with. Took forever to get the patch job done and then they showed up unannounced on a SUNDAY!? After that it took two months to even get them to send us a bill. Repeated phone calls got the runaround and excuses galore. If I could give them minus stars, I would.

The job went extremely well, the salesman Scott MacDonald was very friendly, courteous and professionally explained everything so I knew exactly what I was getting and how much it would cost. He has responded promptly to any questions I might have. He is definitely an asset to Mitchell Roofing. I am very pleased with my roof and will refer Mitchell Roofing to anyone one who needs their services.

Amazing! Mitchell Roofing Company did an amazing job! Their sales person Chris did an estimate for us and after reviewing 3 other companies prior, we knew this company was for us. Chris explained every aspect of the project to us from the type of materials being used to how long the project would take which was all accurate! The crew worked from sun up to sun down and they got our roof done in one day. The clean up was pronominal and if we didn't have a beautiful new roof to show we would of never knew they were ever there. We have refereed 3 of our friends to Mitchell and they all were ecstatic with this company!

Professional, reasonable and quick to start and finish project. Ramon and Chris were top notch. Clean up was excellent. Already have received multiple complements from the neighbors. Definitely would recommend in fact I already have.

I hired Mitchell roofing and signed my contact 2 days later with due diligence and respect my roof was top notch! With the best quality product.. you ask how I know? I did my homework. Had three dif. Quotes done. No one touched the professionalism as Chris did..nor the price.

At the beginning of March 2016, I received a contract for the sale of a rental property I owned in N E Saint Petersburg, FL. The buyers had the house inspected, including a roof inspection. After the inspection, the buyers got a quote for the roof replacement from Mitchell Roofing LLC, of St Petersburg, FL. The buyers included that information in the FHA repair report. To make sure the buyers were satisfied with the roof replacement, we decided to hire Mitchell Roofing LLC. Our decision was based on the detail that was included in Mitchell Roofing LLC, of St Petersburg, FL, March 18, 2016 proposal. I called Mr. Mitchell to arrange to meet and move forward with the project. I asked him if I should bring the proposal that he supplied to the buyers. He told me he would make it easy and he would bring a copy to be signed. He did not inform me that he had made a change from the original proposal and had added language of “(additional roofing layers $.50 s/f extra)”. This change resulted in an increase of 24% or $1,100 additional costs above the original proposal. In the end, the cost of the roof replacement was 33% higher than the original proposal, which was quite a shock, because of the various conversations I had with Mr. Mitchell about the additional costs that might come to light once the roof was removed and the additional plywood that would have to be replaced due to normal rot. The other quotes we received for the work, included between one to three sheets of plywood as part of their proposals. Mr. Mitchell stated that his costs were his costs and that he did not negotiate his prices. On numerous occasions, before the work started, Mr. Mitchell stated that there would probably be only a need for a handful of plywood sheets based on his walking the roof. He never indicated any additional costs for removing the multiple layers of shingles. My agent and I met with Mr. Mitchell looking for an explanation for the 33% difference between his original proposal and final invoice. I told him that I was shocked by the increase in the final invoice and felt that amount of the cost to remove the layers of roofing was not fully disclosed. Mr. Mitchell stated the he had to pay his workers to remove and haul away the additional layers and that cost money. We knew that there were costs, but reiterated that the clause was buried in the proposal and was never disclosed. (Only later, after comparing the original proposal to the proposal that Mr. Mitchell submitted for signature to begin the project, did we realize that he had done a bait and switch.) When my agent and I suggested that we split the additional undisclosed costs, Mr. Mitchell blurted out a racists remark, grabbed the approved permit, and stormed away. He yelled out, that he was putting a lien on the property and the only way to get the house to settlement would be for us to pay him in full. Between the way that Mr. Mitchell used a bait and switch method on his contract and his racist retort when he didn’t get his way, I would never consider using him again or suggest him to another homeowner.
