TROPICAL OASIS LANDSCAPING

Landscape work they did was fine. However, they also installed drains to connect to the gutter down spouts to the edge of property line away from home. Basically, the drains were too small to carry the waterload. The water backed up at the gutter connection and overflowed causing erosion issues. I brought this to the attention of Steve and was basically ignored without so much as a effort to find a solution. We hired a civil engineer to confirm the fact that the drains were simply too small. He absolutely does not have the training to install drains correctly in complex situations. He assured us that he did and made our problem even bigger. He charged 2800 in which will all be for not because of having to fix the problem he created.

The men put the drains in, removed a tree from the yard and planted new landscaping. The results were a very nice change in the outward appearance of the front yard.

When no one came out Tuesday we called Tropical Oasis and the other company that he said to make the check out to. The second company called back and she said that they did have a person working there by the name of Sonny but that she had no job listed for us and she had not been contacted by Tropical Oasis. She siad she would try to contact Tropical Oasis and see what was going on. We called Tropical Oasis several times and it went to voice mail. We could never get them to call us back and we never heard back from the second company. No one EVER came out or contacted us again. We finally had to get someone else to clean the yard. DO NOT HIRE TROPICAL OASIS. Find someone else who is reliable and who won't just not show up for a job abd then not return your calls. If our experience is any indication you will have a very poor experience with this company.

It was a struggle to get him to put things on paper; initial quote was written up but seemed reluctant to document revisions. Never saw a contract or guarantee. One of his other jobs cancelled so he showed up earlier than expected which caused a problem for other contractors I had out at the house and the city hadn't been out yet to locate and mark gas,water, cable, etc. the sod that was delivered looked pretty dead, it was laid with huge gaps all over the yard, his crew did a lousy job of cutting to fit if at all and most of the dead grass came back but when I contacted him to come back out I got no response.

I could not have been more pleased. Steve constructed a flagstone path from gate to side gate and back door. He used uplights to accent portions of area and downlights for the pathway. He installed sod in two areas, planted accent bushes along house and around accent areas. He also groomed a small palm tree that is the center of the area and surrounded by ferns and uplighted this tree as well. Steve provided mulch, etc. around accent areas. He pressure washed the privacy fence, flagstones and seating area. This overall area included a grill, a major pathway and an eating/seating area. The work was done quickly as possible and finished on time just as he indicated. Because of this work he will be providing landscaping on my daughter/son-in-laws home in Durbin Crossings.

Steve and crew where on time/worked hard/efficiently and best price i found. Had 1 problem with a drain and he was quick to respond and fix.. Definitely stands behind his work

Steve was excellent throughout the process. He was always available (or quick to return my call) whenever we had questions about our project, he was competitively priced, and was able to schedule our job within a very reasonable timeframe. Steve and his crew arrived on time even ran out to get more plants when I determined that I wanted the spacing to be a little tighter. The end result turned out great and they made sure to clean up after themselves (which you can't say for a lot of companies). The quality of the service and the product was fantastic and we feel comfortable that our plants will do well with the one year guarantee.

Work was average. Steve Mcgehee offered a one year warranty on plants and trees. However, he completely ignores the calls concerning replacement issues. Very disappointing.

As usual Alex and his team did a great job. I have done several jobs now with Tropical Oasis and they have never let me down. My yard looks amazing now with all my new sod and plants and extras.

Steven was excellent. Very responsive to telephone calls and questions. Handled the project within a few days. Great job.

I had been searching for some time for a true landscaping design company (not just a lawn service that provides plants) and was happy to find Tropical Oasis on Angie's list.  I saw they were highly rated so I gave Steve a call.  I got him on the phone on my first try and we arranged an appointment to review our landscaping needs.  He showed up as scheduled and we reviewed what we needed and what type of plants/trees we liked.  We met about 10 days later to review his landscape design and estimate.  It was just what we wanted and the price was reasonable (plus we received our 5% Angie's List discount). Once we got our HOA approval we gave Steve a call to move forward.  We scheduled it for a week later and they showed up as scheduled.  His team removed the plants/trees from the truck and placed them near where they would be planted.  They consulted us along the way to make sure we were happy with the placement.  They happily made any adjustments we requested.  They also rearranged and augmented the irrigation where necessary.  It was a lot of work but the guys did a great job and left the yard clean.  We were thrilled with the way it turned out.  I am now going to meet with Steve to incorporate a paver patio in the back yard.  Overall, I'm glad we selected Tropical Oasis.

I previously reviewed this company after the completion of a sod job and stated that I would update after the flower bed job in the weeks to follow. That job has now been completed above expectations, as was the last.

I will attempt to spare the long and drawn out review that I gave last time that would effectively say he same thing.... AWESOME!

To be honest, I am a homeowner that prides himself on DIY accomplishments, but now that I've done business with Steve and Tropical Oasis, I find myself becoming spoiled and lazy..... now I'm just looking for projects that I can have them do for me!!!

I simply cannot say enough good things about this company. So often people complain about poor service yet fail to commend and acknowledge the exceptional. Steve and his crew not only performed the agreed tasks, but did so with great care and expertise. Steve and his company held true to the estimated price and made sure that there was enough material to cover any possible overages. Steve also ensured that my sprinkler system provided adequate coverage for my 2000+sqft lawn, and fixed a sprinkler head, that I had broken early, immediately upon my request at an additional cost of only the material itself. Before leaving, he made sure that all my questions were answered and that I was aware of the proper watering schedule. My property was left relatively spotless upon their departure and I was more than satisfied.
Steve returns calls very promptly and makes any accommodations to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Honestly, after leaving in Jacksonville for almost 4 years, this is the best service that I have received from just about any company I can recall during my time here!
Not only would I recommend  Tropical Oasis to friends and family (I have), I will be calling them again in a week or so to completely redesign and plant 70+ plants in two large Flower beds. I will update with a new review upon the completion of that job in a couple of weeks.

Dealt with the owner Steve - he was able to quickly identify and discuss solutions for our erosion issue.  He is dedicated to customer satisfaction and we appreciated his responsiveness.  The area looks great and they did a great job of cleaning up afterwards.

Steve came out and consulted on what we wanted done and made some helpful recommendations.  He gave an estimate on the spot and stuck to it throughout.  His crews were on time and courteous, hard working, and knocked this job out just great!  Highly recommend using this service.

Landscaping looks wonderful!  Steven from Tropical Oasis was a pleasure to work with.  Everything from the initial proposal to the implementation of the design went off without a hitch.  Although we had an idea of what we wanted to achieve, Steven helped us pick the right plants to the achieve the look we were after.  We will definitely be using them again for our backyard updates.

He's just a nice guy. I always ask questions, but he didn't care and he answered all of them. We built a rapport. It wasn't an easy project, and in early May, it grew unbelievably. They followed up, which is really nice, because sometimes contractors come and just get the job done. They will be doing more work with us. 

Dealt directly with the owner Steve. Very prompt with returning phone calls. Came when he said he would. Gave free estimate. Came on the day/time to do the work as promised. Guaranteed the trees for 1yr. Owner was on job site. Used lighter Bobcat equipment that didn't chew the lawn up with tracks. Cleaned up the dirt debris in street (from unloading and unwrapping the trees) very well so no neighbor complaints. When realized needed to add some more mulch he sent his worker back immediately with it (did.not have to wait days or until he was in the area again).

My husband hired this company of-the-cuff without an estimate..  I think the cost reflects that!  In my opinion, the job was way over-priced.

They are very professional, timely, and they do great work at a great price!
