We drove the boat to the marina for a tune up on our inboard engine which was having difficulty starting. Once started, it ran fine.
The cost quote of $700.00 was agreed on. We also decided to have the bottom painted while up on land and were given a quote of $1,000.00 which we agreed to. They had the boat for 10 days, a week too long and were given a bill of $2,520.00 which detailed paint costing $350.00 must have gold flakes in it, charges for pressure washing, blocking the boat and pulling it onto land????? In actuality, the bottom paint job costs $1,607.00 far more than a 22' ft boat would cost.
To make matters worse, the boat broke down bringing it home and we had to be towed. We had to hire someone else who's discovered that Bob and Annie's owner Chris Conover made a mess of our carburetor which we'd had rebuilt a year earlier and weren't having any problems until they screwed it up. The boat is still inoperable which confirms that Bob and Annie's Boatyard in St James City, Florida is not only a crook but Chris Conover is an incompetent mechanic.
