Wadsworth Painting

He does good work. He did refurnishing, fixing and also did some plumbing before painting. He is sort of Jack of all Trades. He doesn’t market himself but if he is fixing up a house and has to repair things he will do all that. He is honest, trustworthy and always looking at the interest of the customer. The only advertising he does is by word of mouth. He is quite busy. I haven’t worked for me at the level of his both expertise and friendliness.

Paul Wadsworth is new to the Tampa area and I was hesitant about hiring him to pressure wash my (really dirty) sidewalk when he knocked on my door to leave his card and tell me about his experience. He spoke of 23 years of being a painting contractor in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine area, followed by 7 1/2 years in the New Orleans area, where he had moved just four weeks before Katrina. I hired him to do only the sidewalk, with a "we'll see" as to whether he would do more. I also asked for additional personal identity information and his permission to conduct a mini background check and talk to authorities in the St.Augustine and New Orleans area, which he readily gave. In a little while I found the accross the street neighbor complimenting him on the sidewalk pressure cleaning job, he had done for me, as the best he had ever seen and setting up a tentative arrangement for a future job on his sidewalk. Inquiries revealed that Paul was who he said he was and that he had no derogatory record. A local contractor, for whom he had done some work during a short preliminary initial visit to Tampa four months ago, spoke highly of his motivation, building arts knowledge and skills. Contact with Home Depot confirmed that he was a long time Glidden Paint Professional, last located in the New Orleans area. I went ahead and hired him to work on the house, pool deck and backyard fence. He showed up each morning with an enthusiasim and good humor that I have rarely seen in a person in any line of work. He worked around the weather, did everything he said he would do and more. Like another painter in history (Michaelangelo) he has skills that go beyond that of painting. When he saw that the potted plants around the pool were dead, he asked if he could suggest some replacements and then on the trip to Home Depot to purchase the paint he bought potting soil and new plants. He then placed them around the pool so they would not damage the pool deck as the earlier ones had. When I showed him some water spots and discoloration on ceilings in rooms of the house, he told me how to "repair" them without having to repaint the ceilings (with 50% Chlorox and 50% Water in a little spray bottle. Worked great and I can put off painting indoors for a while.) He provided guidance that helped me make other repairs to the house. I have already received compliments about the new look of the house from two neighbors, one of whom asked how I had gotten rid of the cracks in the stucco wall. (Prep work by Paul.) I sit in the backyard now, under my "new" green awning, looking over my "new" pool deck at the decorative plants that are growing and and my shiney "new" ceder fence. I am still astounded that all this was done in a couple of days by one amazing and amiable craftsman. I definitely know who I am going to call when I need to paint inside of the home: Wadsworth Painting. If Angies List had an A+ rating, this is where it could be used.
