"This was a five day job, that turned into an eight day job because the cabinets where from 1950's and the customer wanted them to be repainted. After removing the the cabinet doors we found them to be warped. The cabinets had been refurbished before, with deep swirl marks etched into the grain of the wood, that we tried to remove by sanding, but this process did not properly fix the swirl marks in the doors to our standards, so without further cost to the client we decided to bondo seal the doors with a coat of fiberglass to totally resurface the cabinet doors. This process took time to complete, and we absorbed the cost in materials and labor, and did not charge the client any more money. We also, found that instead of just a primer coat, and a finish coat did not meet our standards of workmanship, so we applied two extra top coats of costly enamel paint, without extra charge to the customer. This process has to allow the paint time to dry about 12 hours, before it can be reapplied. The cabinet doors had to be removed from the site to be painted in a dirt free environment, which meant the sub contractor left the job, but was still working on the doors at another location, and may have appeared as if nothing was being done, when in fact the job was being conducted at another location. The job also entailed sanding and painting the base units in the home, since there was no way to remove them from the work site it had to be done in place. This process caused a lot of dust, and barriers were set up to alleviate the majority of the dust, but there is always leaks, and after the first day the customer covered up their furniture from the adjoining rooms to help protect the items, before any painting had taken place. The painting again entailed a primer coat, and three coats of finishing paint instead of the one coat. This was again done at no additional charge to the customer, it was done for the quality of workmanship. To spray paint cabinets was not a job that was in our expertise, so it had to be sub contracted out to another contractor, and although he set barriers to try to contain misted spray from traveling, some escapes, since you cannot set a total barrier to the mist, some will find its way around any barrier set up. The customer was advised about this possibility, and asked to take proper precautions. I personally met with the customer everyday, and specifically asked if there was anything that they did not like, and addressed every issue they found. I also, called several times after we completed the job to check on them, and was always sent to voicemail, with never a return call. This prohibited me from correcting any issue that they might have found. We did many little things for the customer that we never charged them, like fixing a exterior door, painting wood work, extra coats of paint, installing GFI plug, hanging wall mounted utensil holders, installing underneath cabinet racks, a new LED light underneath the sink, which apparently"
