"Thank you for your kind words!! Have a great summer!!~"
Since they wouldn't come out to fix the smell, I had to get another company to come service it and pay another service fee. They had to replace the fan motor again and when they went to go get the parts, they said that Encore never registered my parts so they would only be guaranteed for 5 years instead of 10 years which is what the original contract said it would be.
They seem like they are never going to honor anything about my air conditioner and I am now stuck!
It is now April 18, 2016 and I got the Consumer Protection of Pinellas involved in getting Encore to refund me for the defective UV bulb as the owner said he would on Dec 17,2015. I got a check for 133.00 today and it bounced as they have no funds to honor the check.
They promised to call me to explain why I don't have a 10 year warranty but never did.
They claim to be Christian with values but they are the most dishonest company I have come across since moving to Florida in 1986!
"Good morning. Thank you for your message. In many years of providing 5 star service I've not quite had something like this before. I am completely familiar with this call. It was approximately 3 months ago. We're were scheduled for a Saturday service call. We adjusted to to come Friday. When we arrived we found the system low on freon. To correctly diagnose we said we needed to perform a leak check. [Member Name Removed] declined the repair and asked that we just put freon in it. We said with the agency the system it may not hold. When a sysytem has a leak it will leak out again and is why we suggest a leak check. With it being declined and [Member Name Removed] showing us a document from eBay about him buying a new system from eBay and then asked our tech if he could borrow his tools to install the system if he buys from eBay. Our tech said he could not rent or lend his tools. We topped off the freon. Changed theb79 diagnostic plus 2 pounds if freon and left. Since then we have received no less than 10 messages on eBay threatening us. We have been so confused. I've never had anything like this before. We have worked so hard as a family business to maintain all top reviews and have. I am not sure what I can say to resolve this. The customer is convinced we had done something wrong when we never do. We have over 1000 reviews almost all 5 star and its heart breaking to read and write this. We did everything we could to show while customer stood right next to tech what needed to be done. Thank you for allowing us to respond."
I scheduled with Encore Air for a service visit on my system installed in July 2013. During the 1st two years the system was performing satisfactorily but now were are having difficulty controlling the humidity and attaining the same level of cooling as in prior summers. I specified at the time of the service appointment that I wanted to know what actions can be taken to improve the internal temperature since the old windows are already covered with blinds and curtains and the thermostat was reading 75 degrees, about 5% below the actual interior temperature at that location.
Rick, I believe, first tested the condenser and informed me it is functioning normally, which one might expect for a 24mo old system.
Next he checked inside and noticed all the supply vents were wide open in all areas. He explained that the system works best under pressure so have the vents opened minimally will better distribute the cool air and will push more air to the areas that may require more cooling. He went room by room and reduced the vent flows through the house.
Third, he started testing supply temperatures at the thermostat and at various vent Iocations. I asked him if he had any equipment that to measure any significant cooling loss through ducting and he replied he did not. While collecting the readings inside, he popped his head into the attic for about a minute but performed no specific actions at the AHU,
Upon returning to the living room, he confirmed the thermostat was reading 5 degrees below the actual temperature and he wold have to check if it was still under warranty.
Secondly, he informed me to have my tenants maintain regular changes of the filter which he could see was clean. He also emphasized maintaining good vent control to balance the system.
Lastly he told me the supply temperature was a 62 degrees which is on the high side of normal and perhaps the system might have been overcharged. He said to wait on the outcome of the thermostat before addressing the potential overcharge situation.
Lastly he presented the $89 invoice for the service visit which was paid.
Two weeks have passed now and I have not heard anything from Encore Air about the thermostat and the minimal supply temperature being output from a 2 yr. old system. Further I did not see Rick take any preventive maintenance actions like cleaning coils, flushing drain pans, etc. Moreover the visit has done nothing to address why the system cannot reduce the humidity which I measured this week at over 60. I feel this service visit was cursory at best and the follow up poor.
To make matters worse, I met with a different Encore employee the following week ( July 13) at another rental property I manage in Largo to estimate a new system install. He did not show or call for the 9am appointment time. After calling their office, he arrived after 10am and professionally conducted his review for making an estimate. He advised the install was possible using an "over the water heater unit" between 2 to 2.5tons built into the hall closet.. I gave him my card and asked him to email the estimate to me. He did not have a card to give me and I cannot recall his name. I have not received any reply or follow up from him now 10 days later.
If the McClows truly stand by their claims about the quality of Encore Air's services I would welcome their call and further suggest they add a vehicle on their website to their handle complaints, not just positive experiences like I had when the system was first installed.
The installation was scheduled for Monday, July 6th, and Matthew and Rich arrived on time and ready to work. Chuck had allowed up to 7 hours for the job and they completed it in 4.5 hours. What great teamwork! One outside on the condenser and one inside on the air handler. They consulted me for my preferences on pad placement for the condenser and removed a warped shelf that the old vertical inside air handler had rested on and replaced it with a perfect metal stand. Filter changes are going to be a breeze.
I purchased the Bryant 2.5 ton, 15 SEER, unit that was eligible for the local utility rebate that Encore took off my invoice price. The unit is so quiet compared to my old one, the first couple of days I would stop at the door just to see if it was running!
I did have a very small problem with condensation dripping from the pipe and Chuck had followed up with a call the next day to see how the unit was running. I mentioned the moisture and someone was out before noon to take care of it.
I am totally satisfied. Professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. I am so glad I looked at Angie's List first for such a big investment.
This company definitely focuses their efforts on new system installs and that seems to be their specialty. They are up front about their system and labor costs as they post most of them directly on their website. No other company that i worked with came close to their pricing with their initial estimates and only got competitive once they knew who they were competing with. Even then, they still couldn't' beat the pricing Encore provided. All in all, a great experience and i couldn't be happier with the new installation.
"Thank you (removed member name) for your kind review. As a family business we are so grateful for reviews of our workmanship! Thanks again!!"
"Thank you very much for the kinds reviews you've written [Member name removed]! We are very grateful you chose us for your replacement system!! Thanks again!!"
The workman arrived promptly on the agreed upon date. It was a rainy day and they put tarps down to prevent soiling the carpet. They were very organized and quickly set-up the condenser and air handler. On the second day the contracted electrician worked very steadfastly until the unit was connected. He and his helper were very conscientious and professional. He was very kind to repair an outlet in another room as well. His work was included in the quote.
The duct work and installation was completed on the second day. The carpenter arrived on the third day to frame out the air-handler and install the bifold door. He also repaired the walls where the old vents were from the oil heater and a few non-related unfinished
honey do's. His rate was fair, and was not included in the quote.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the work and would recommend this company to others.
"Thank you very much for your kind words [member name removed]. We are grateful for the opportunity to work for you and [name removed]! We work very hard to exceed expectations in workmanship and pricing. It pleases all of us that you took the time to write about your experience with us. I have shared the review with everyone and they said thank you also. Thanks again. We appreciate your business and trust in our company. James McClow, owner Encore Air"
Encore was able to do the installation the very next day (a Saturday!) after we called them. There was no additional charge for the Saturday installation. The whole installation process took less than 5 hours. We did not need any additional duct work or electrical work, so the installation just consisted of swapping out the outside unit and the inside air handler.
The installers arrived promptly at they appointed time and went straight to work. We found them to be very professional, taking time to make sure they were as clean as possible during the whole process. Our old outside unit had lots of unkempt vegetation around it, and the installer not only cleaned up all of that, he hauled the dead plants away with the old equipment. That whole area looks better than when they arrived. Inside, they laid down a tarp over the carpet, then vacuumed up the area and the entire staircase leading upstairs to the air handler. Very nice.
I would highly recommend Encore to anyone. We learned a lot from talking with eight different contractors. A couple of them were fairly high-pressured, a couple of them were outrageously expensive, and none could offer the combination of personal service, technical knowledge, price, and previous customer satisfaction that we found in Encore.
"I wanted to personally thank you for your kind words. We are so grateful you chose our company for your replacement and we love to hear feedback like this. We work hard to be different and transparent in all we do. By listing our pricing on our website customers like you can see before calling how much a replacement system will be. We have heard from so many that they feel contractors make pricing a mystery and with that we list our pricing to take that mystery away. We are glad you found it easy and our workmanship worthy of an "A" rating. Thanks again and have a nice weekend! James McClow, Encore Air Conditioning"
