Direct Furniture Repair

The sofa, purchased at a regional furniture store, was naturally out of warranty. The store was not very optimistic on the prospects of replacing the handle, as the sofa had been made in China and there was no distributor in the United States for parts from this manufacturer. They felt that typically it takes many months (often 3-4) to get replacement furniture parts out of China. The store referred me to Direct Furniture Repair, whom they recommend for their furniture repair. Usually, just about any replacement part can be found on-line. But in this case, I could not find the OEM replacement part, even after a lot of effort. I did find a handle in the UK that looked similar, but the cost/time was rather high and I did not have a lot of confidence that the replacement part would actually be doable. I called Direct Furniture Repair and the owner/operator (Chris Robles) visited the house to evaluate the repair prospects. He felt that because of all the furniture repair work that he routinely performs, that he would encounter a new handle (from another manufacturer) that could be used as a substitute. He said that his searching would take a little time, but would definitely get back to us within a month or so, which was no problem for us and sounded much better than the 3-4 month estimate given to us by the furniture store. Well, exactly a month later, he responded with good news that he had found a replacement handle and could stop by the next day. Next day, Carl came to the house within his promised time-slot and quickly replaced the handle, which now works perfectly (maybe better than the original when it was brand new). As a bonus, he left us an additional new replacement handle, as a spare. He had found two (2) replacement handles during his travels. He also attached a cable to it, so if one of the other three (3) handles on our two (2) sofa set should break, that a very quick replacement could be performed. Carl has many years of experience in repairing furniture and it is totally obvious that he is a true artist in his trade. As a customer, an experienced owner/operator to provide service is the ideal situation. So many companies in the service trades use hired workers with have limited experience in their trade-of-the-day. I feel very fortunate in having found Carl Robles and I will definitely be using him for all my future furniture repair needs. I will also be recommending him with my full confidence to all my family and friends.
