There were lots of problems, mainly afterwards, trying to get hold of them to come out check out some problems. We followed their directions 100% in finishing the pool but there is a patch that is a different color than all the rest and actually has boot prints on it. They won't do anything about it. The first time we contacted them was 11/6/13 and I know it was a long time ago but I have lists of dates when I tried to contact them. They eventually came back to have a look and said they didn't know, but it might be a fault in the material. They called in the manufacturer who said there was nothing wrong with the material and he would send someone to test for the cause of the discolored patch. Another thing that they did is they poured all their wet cement into one of our ornamental pebble beds out the front, so it set solid. When I asked him to come along and see about that he came with a crowbar and chunked it up into a few chunks. Then, we still have this patch here. The last message I got was that they are not responsible for any stains that happened after they finished the pool. Well, if it is a stain, how can it be just this one patch where you can clearly see the marks used in laying the materials and is obviously a different color from all the rest. Their price was not the highest or the lowest. I guess it was about average. Their responsiveness was really bad. For the initial job the punctuality was good, but then after that I could not get them to come.
"We completed pool finish in 2012. Customer was satisfied after completion. When customer called to complain about product in their landscape rock, we sent our tech out to clean to the customer's satisfaction. If they were no happy with clean, they should have informed us then we would have cleaned again. Moving forward, June 2014 customer called to say pool had a spot which was darker than the rest. We told customer that there would be color variations as per the manufacturer's specifications and that finish is hand troweled so there will be variations. Never the less we notified the Marquis aggregate representative to inspect finish. It was determined by representative that application was correct and product was good. Marquis rep stated pool had sealed due to improper chemical balancing of pool water. We informed customer we could treat pool, but color variations would remain the same. We stated there would be a charge for this sealing was caused by improper chemical start up process for new finishes. They completed start up themselves, we recommended they c have pool professional complete start up. As explained to customer we cannot come out for free to fix their mistake of not having a professional do their start up."
Justin, owner of Sunset Pool Repair, along with his employee traced the outlay of the medallion on the marcite of the pool wall.
A precise cut was then made in the marcite using a small carbide wheel grinder. Several smaller cuts were then made so that the workers could remove small sections of the marcite leaving the desired shape of the medallion.
Special thin set was then used to bond the medallion into the pool shell.
Openings around the medallion were then grouted
Day one they drained the pool. Day two they removed the tile (in about 10 minutes), installed new tile and prep'd the pool. Day three they put down the new surface and added accent tiles. They replaced all the jets and drains. Day four was filling the pool. Since I was not comfortable doing the start-up procedure, they came back for days after to brush the pool and add chemicals.
They were on time every day, kept the noise to a minimal, kept everything neat and tidy, only minimal damage to grass and left the work area clean when they left for the day.
I am very happy with the work and professionalism of Justin, his wife, Dawn and the crew. If you need any pool work done, these are the people you would want at your home.
