Bob Sparks

Bob showed up to give me an estimate one evening in May around 6pm.  I took him through the whole house explaining what I wanted. He was sensitive to my vision which was to maintain the integrity of the time period my home was built (1929). In other words I wasn't interested in granite countertops or modern cabinetry and he understood that. In fact, when we were trying to decide later on what type of ceiling to put in bathroom (it currently had dreadful popcorn coating) he went online and researched ceilings for the time period my home was built and then went to Lowe's and Home Depot to see what was available. I had a 2x3 ft stained glass made for a space above my kitchen cabinets which he installed and it's now the showpiece it was meant to be. 
His estimate was broken down into categories: porch, living/dining paint, bedrooms paint and repair, back room paint, refurbished exterior door (this door was wood and glass of an unusual size that 2 other contractors said couldn't be fixed), and then a few weeks in we designed a pergola together which he gave me an estimate on for labor and material.  I paid him for each category when it was done.  He stuck with his estimate even though at times the work required more time and extras that he had not anticipated. For example when he was re-screening my porch, the screen was trimmed with 1 inch slats (about 24 altogether) and each one had to be measured and cut separately as my home is not level or standard sized anywhere.  So that particular job took quite a bit longer than originally planned. The entire remodeling job was accomplished over a period of 7 weeks with a couple of days off for holidays, etc. We ended up adding more and more remodeling plans as he was working and he was always enthusiastic in helping me make decisions regarding new plans and ideas. Every time we added a new project he would give me a price for that job and I would decide if I wanted it done. Then we would go on from there.
He showed up every weekday at 8 or 8:30 promptly and worked most times until 6 or 7 at night with a 1 hr. lunch.  He was efficient and thorough.  He was as excited with the job as I was and was not happy until the result was as perfect as it could be. He treated my home as if it were his own.  Always cleaned up after himself each day and was cheerful and joyful every single day. It was a joy to have him here. I miss having him around.  He is a pastor of a small church in Apopka and he and his wife are sweethearts.  He is honest, reliable and extremely talented.  I could not be happier with the result. My home is gorgeous from the front porch to the backyard pergola.
 
I cannot recommend him highly enough. I have had many people work for me over the years and I have to say that Bob Sparks is one of the very best contractors I've ever had the privilege to work with.
