He is a person with a very surly attitude; he was even rude to my cleaning lady who is a lovely woman.
|
|The doors were partially installed and then he just walked off the job with the job partially done. Everything had to be ripped out and reinstalled as they were not only crooked, but all the hinges were bound because they were set improperly, and when you close the doors, they pop open. Also, he left a large gap between the doors, they are not centered from side to side and crooked as well from top to bottom (see photos). Also, he could not make cuts (photos); I frankly have never seen such bad cuts.

I provided the doors. He is a person with a very surly attitude; he was even rude to my cleaning lady who is a lovely woman.

I asked him to please come later. |He also installed a ceiling fan and a dog door. The dog door is too low and one of my dogs refuses to go through it. I looked at the instructions, it clearly showed that the door should be higher. The only thing I can do is remove the door and install a larger one because now the hole is cut. The door I will throw out cost me $120, in addition to which, he removed a cat door from the spot, and took it upon himself to throw that out! I had promised that door to a friend with a cat.
|
|Lastly, he installed a ceiling fan. He seemed to think I am an idiot and told me some ridiculous story about the ceiling perhaps not being wired correctly for the fan as all fans require different wiring. Over the years I have had dozens of fans installed in different houses and of course, fans do not require different wiring. He seemed to miss how knowledgeable I am, and spoke to me as if I am an idiot with an exasperated tone and a lot of annoyed sighing. My late husband was an Architect and spent his career as a Construction Manager. In 35 years of being married and too, renovating homes, you can be sure I learned plenty and I really didn't appreciate being treated as if I am stupid.

|All in all, this was a very expensive nightmare.

My opinion of course, but for me, it was one of the worst tile jobs I'd ever seen.  Grout was uneven as were many tiles.  Grout was all over not just the tiles themselves, but on the walls, appliances and cabinets.   I spent days cleaning up the mess and getting rid of the grout haze that was left.  Next time, I'll just have to go with my gut feel and pay more.

Not satisfied at all. Vendor was rude. Thin set looked like water, has failed in several places. Cleanup was virtually non existent. Would not recommend.

Jack painted the interior trim in our house, plus a couple of rooms, walls and ceilings. He arrives on time and works as long as there are light and supplies. I find him to be very neat, and he did the trim in the whole house with minimal disruption of my routine, moving and covering furniture as he went, and putting it back and cleaning up after himself when he was done.

He painted the exterior of our house a few months ago, and again got the job done very quickly and neatly, and for about 2/3 the price of our other estimates. He also fixed the stucco on the front of our house and installed new screens on our porch. A true jack of all trades.

We called Jack on a Sunday evening, before the delivery of our new refrigerator the next morning, to ask him if it was possible to widen the opening of our space in the kitchen. After sending him a picture of the area in question, he called with his suggestions and told us he could do the work. We were impressed with his quick response. He came within two days and completed the work the same day. He was pleasant and obviously knew what he was doing. The final result was acceptable to us....not perfect...but he was honest in his assessment of the options we had and we agreed with his suggestion. The work he did was exactly what we asked of him.

I contacted Jack on a Wednesday and he was able to get the materials and install the fence on that Saturday.

He completed the job on the same day he started the installation.

His price was reasonable for this area.

Everything was great, Jack was very prompt and responded quickly to my initial contact email. We scheduled an appointment to meet at the house and go over the repairs and he was on time (even a bit early). He looked at everything and was able to fix everything in a timely fashion. Overall a very positive experience.

They were diligent and gave a fair estimate. I didn't have any problem. The quality of their work was good. They will do some more work for us. I would use them in the future.

All the jobs Jack has done for me have gone very well. Jack always does excellent work at a fair price. He is totally reliable, does what he says he is going to do and when he says he is going to do it. Jack always cleans up after the job and leaves the job site and your house clean and tidy. As you can tell, I highly recommend him, he is quite a find in this day and age.

Jack is a good guy to work with. He works alone for the most part so the job takes a long time. Finish coat was good, but prep work was sometimes weak. Prep work (removing loose paint, sanding, priming, etc.) was poor in several areas, and the finish coat was applied before I could inspect. Consequently I have a $16,000 paint job that is already flaking in some areas, just months after completion. Because of extensive business travel I was not able to supervise the job very closely. On occasion when I was able to say something, Jack was resistant and grudging in taking corrective measures. To be fair, Jack is a nice enough guy, there were no questions about his honesty and he worked hard on the job from start to finish. I had no qualms about leaving him alone at the house, and wouldn't have any worries today. He worked without making a mess, cleaned up after himself and charged exactly what he said he would. My ONLY complaint is the quality of the prep work and how resistant he was on those few occasions when I was able to catch it. For $16,000 my house shouldn't be flaking already, less than 1 year after completion.

I found Jack off a pre-Katrina flyer stuck to our bulletin board. Fortunately he was still here and available to do some of the small jobs around our house, though I know he can do big ones also. He calls back, shows up when he says he will, and does quality work at a fair price. A rare find!
