TruGreen Lawn Care - 5798

We got this company when they bought our previous provider. In the year and more after that, out lawn declined steadily. All TruGreen offered was to charge us more for services we did not need. We finally broke it off with them, but they did not make it easy. Proceed with great caution.

BAD! They took over from my previous company TurfMaster, whom they bought out. Never met with me personally, let info. notes on my front door saying they knocked but no one answered, but never knocked. Telephoned them to schedule an appointment about my plants that were dying & couldn't get one for several weeks, but agreed to it anyway & then no-show & no-call. In between the scheduled appointment time, scheduled me for service which I refused until someone would tell me how they failed to tell me about my plants dying, so the scheduled a 3 day appointment period prior to the other previous scheduled appointment (which they later failed to keep), & I told them I appreciated having an earlier appointment than the 1st one they had scheduled to resolve this matter, which they said was written in the notes of my file. They also were no-show & no-call on this 3 day appt. period. Needless to say, I would not recommend them to anyone, including my worst enemy.

They've done what they said they'd do. If I call them about something, they come right out. They let me know the day before they're coming and you can always count on them being there that day. The drivers that come out are courteous. I've been real satisfied with them. They come out every 6 weeks.

They're good.  I don't have no problem at all.  There was no charge for this service because I already paid for it already.  I pay for the entire season.  What stands out about them?  The customer service person that comes to the house.  They're just good.  For price-wise, I would say B; it's average, a little more than average.

They gave a false service report on what they did and what to expect with an improving lawn. The lawn was deteriorating with their service.

We spoke with management and they did admit it, and they said that they would go ahead and come back. We put $150 down to get that treatment done and then they burnt the grass. They wouldn't even reimburse that money. They said that they would come out and take a look at it, and that they would treat it again. At that point, we weren't going to have them do any more treatments on the lawn. They were awful! They didn't correct the problem and we had to have a professional service come out. They treated it and just waited for it to come back. It eventually came back but it was hard. I think what it is is that they just hire people. I think there's a big turnover. They are not looking at the notes. I told the guys not to fertilize the grass, it needed a bug killer. Whoever they hired didn't even pay attention to the notes and just put fertilizer on it. I don't recommend them. The price was reasonable. They did get back to us eventually. They weren't mean about it, but I had to go through 3 different people for one person to actually concede that it was their fault. They were timely.

Excellent!  Tru Green always goes above and beyond and their customer service is top notch!  You definitely get what you pay for!

We laid sod in January. We began with Trugreen 3 months after a a rep pointed out why our current provider wasn't doing a good job. Now, most of our back yard is dead. According to the manager, the technician sprayed nitrogen when it was too hot. Being a science teacher, this is true. We asked if they would replace it and he said it wasn't going to happen. if they would treat it, the lawn would come back. Now the other side of the lawn that wasn't dead is now dying. Buyer beware

We are having issues with our shrubs, but they're supposed to come out to rectify the situation. Other areas, like the grass is doing well. However, if we don't get the shrub issue resolved, we might be going withsomeoneelse.

This is my first year working with them and I have enjoyed their services. I like that they are dependable.

I signed a contract for monthly service with TruGreen on 6/17/2013.  By mid-July no service had been provided so I started calling to see when someone would be out to service my lawn and shrubs.  I wish I had kept a record of the actual number of times that I placed calls, was given a date, only to have no one show up.  I called at the end of July to cancel the service, was promised free service for the first visit, and a firm promise that someone would be out in early August.  Service was provided within the first few days of August.  Since then I have received numerous recorded messages with dates that service was to be provided, again with no one showing up.  I have made numerous call throughout the remainder of August and September.  Still now service since the beginning of August.  I called today to cancel the service only to be told once again, that my lawn is scheduled for next week.  I cancelled the service anyway.  I am not exaggerating when I say that I have placed no less than 30 calls to TruGreen to get this service on track with zero results.  I would not recommend TruGreen to anyone.

They didn't do a good job at all, they didn't kill any of the weeds. I wanted them to call me so that I could meet the technician at the house. They told me that they were going to be here on Friday on the 12th but with no time. I wanted to be here when they came but they were here while I was at work. They called me on the 19th and told me that they had no record of being there.

TruGreen comes every other month. no problem. most of the time we are not at home. last year, I was at home when they came. I watched as chemicals were applied. the guy didn't even come close to spraying all our yard.  I made him go back and finish.  June 24the came this time when my husband was home. again, they didn't come close to applying chemicals to the entire yard.  the receipt said that granular potash 24 lbs and manor injection 2.52 gals was applied.  there was no liquid applied.  the entire yard was not covered with the potash.  my husband talked to the guy... but the receipt said the home owner was not available.  when I called the company, they said, they must have given us the wrong receipt.. but yet my name was on it.. so, something wasn't right....they wanted to try to make it right.. this is not the first time we complained!!!!  we decided to cancel our lawn care with them

At first the service was great compared to company we had before.  In the end of December 2012 I had called and also emailed them because our lawn was being taken over by weeds.  After a few days of no response I called them again and I was told someone would be out to check the lawn out.  The service was suppose to be on a Friday.  Late that Friday there still was no service call done.  I called and told them if they were not at my house today not to bother coming back at all.  The response from them was I  will send this to the manager.  I never heard from the manager and received no service.  I called a few weeks later to make sure my service with Trugreen was cancelled.  I was told no.  I was told to give them another chance.  They would come out for free and treat my lawn.  I was told the work was guaranteed and they should fix the problem since I paid for the service.  They did come back and service the lawn for no charge and a few weeks later I decided to change companies.  I called and let them know I was cancelling my service and had a new lawn service. 
The new company I hired is doing an unbelievable job and my lawn has never looked better.  Since I have cancelled Trugreen i have received a visit from a salesperson asking how my service was.  I told him that I cancelled their service a few months ago.  Also I have received so many phone called that i have told them numerous times to put me on the do not call list. That hasn't helped.  I finally told the person calling tonight that I was posting to Angie's List my bad experience and may contact may lawyer.  

I prepaid an account in June 2012 to take me through the end of the year. In November I started receiving account due bills. At that time I canceled and I received a refund check. Now in December and January I am receiving past due bills for services I didn't receive. I tried calling and got a recording every time stating that this was their busy season and to hold on for an operator which I did for about ten minutes before hanging up. I still don't know if my billing has been straightened out or if I will receive another past due bill in February.

It costs about $250 yearly. They are pretty good; if we have a problem with weeds they respond. Their professionalism is very good. I will use them until the contract runs out; then if I don't like it I will switch; but so far, so good.
