Solar Direct

I purchased my Solar system from Solardirect in 2018. Dale spend considerable time with me in working towards getting an estimate and helping me understand things needed to get best value (such as reducing demand by things like heatpump water heater which paid for itself quickly AND saved me significant sizing on my system). I live in Edgewater FL around 4 houts from Sarasota where Solar Direct is and I was worried about continued service after install. Dale assured me they would stand behind things and despite other competitive estimates from local installers I felt Solardirect was the one I wanted to go with. Today, 5 years later, I am glad I made that decision. I unfortunately had 3 failures on the Solaredge inverter we used. It was covered by warranty and despite the miles Solaredge acquired equipment during supply chain issue periods and quickly and expertly installed it to get me back producing. My warranty included labor for 5 years and earlier in 2023 my inverter failed again for a 2nd time so I'm on my 3rd now. I was worried how much labor would be to come this far or if Solardirect would just supply hardware and not want to do the install. However, I was treated with urgency and the cost charged was extremely reasonable despite the vast distance. I can say definitively Solar Direct is a great company who stands behind what they sell and provide great service years after the sale. Many others I considered I think would have walked away to sell more systems once their labor warranty was up. Dale and Solardirect stand with me and continue to provide great service years after the sale. I highly recommend them for your solar needs!

I'm a DIY homeowner working with Solar Direct for 12 years and cannot be happier with the product choice advice, sales and follow up support. They literally walked me thru the installation and maintenance of a solar domestic hot water system that is working as well today as it was 12 years ago.

I have installed 15.3kw solar system which consisted of 45 340w TallMax panels. From the time of the order throughout installation the response was great from SolarDirect. I am a pest of a customer and have lots of questions and request frequent status. With a Tier 2 system it adds another level of complexity with insurance and agreement with the utility. Was provided a clear timeline and was able to keep in touch throughout the process. I even had to upgrade my main service panel to handle a line side tap. The installers were great and were not bothered by me being on the roof to ask questions and take progress pictures. This gave me a better understanding on what was being done and how everything tied in. This was even accomplished in one day and tested before they left. They answered everything and showed me the inverters and tied to main service panel. Since the agreement was in place prior to installation I only had to wait a couple business days for the utility to install my meter. When the system turned on one of the inverters crashed after about 50 minutes. Their service team took care of getting a replacement shipped and installed quickly. System has been performing really well and glad j took the plunge into solar.

I went solar in Aug 2018. It was something I wanted to do for a long time. I spent a couple of months learning and reading and signed up for some estimates when I thought I knew enough to do that. I went onto an online site and put in my info and it made my info available to solar companies to provide bids to me through them. I wanted to eliminate my bill for energy, but learned you don't want to size larger than you need as the excess is paid for by the power company. I selected 3 to talk to. 2 were relatively near me and had good reviews, but one (Solar Direct) was in Sarasota FL, almost 4 hours from my home in Edgewater FL. Solar direct started out as the underdog due to their distance from my property. But eventually my salesperson Dale earned my business and I went with them, despite them starting off as the underdog. I am happy that I did. They gave me a competitive price and excellent service and my system turns out to be sized perfectly without deficit or excess. My materials are high quality and the installation is neat and professional and passed inspection first run. We had a problem with one part of it when installed due to a manufacturing defect, so they got the opportunity to demonstrate great service when they made 2 trips from 4 hours away to diagnose and resolve the problem replacing the component at no charge. I could not ask for more. I am glad I gave them the opportunity and am very happy in every respect. I highly recommend them, and if they are not close by, don't rule them out.

Overall the project went smoothly and was completed on budget, as designed and on schedule. However, the after sale customer service, communications and responsiveness requires improvement. After all is said and done, my system is complete and functioning as expected. I would use Solar Direct again for my solar project needs.

We are very happy with the work that Solar Direct did. We literally have no electric bill it's sooo nice. They did a great job on all the installation. Solar Direct pulled all permits and made it so easy. Also had a solar powered attic fan installed that has a 5yr warranty on the motor and10yrs on all other parts. It helps. The sales manager Oliver Baumgart was always on time and very helpful and friendly. They were a great experience to work with.

They discounted $ 40, but that was not enougf considering that they did not tell me I would be charged, and mechanics exegerated time. I did not even get the bill when he was here. I lost a lot of electricity because they did not make me aware in time.

They weren't very interested in helping with the repair, so he was not very helpful. My experience with them 11 years ago was good, but last year it was not so good.

I 1st ordered a collector sensor.  I received a good OEM sensor 2 days later.
Unfortunately it didn't fix my specific issue, but it did improve an annoying secondary problem.
I then ordered the water temp sensor.  I received a good OEM sensor the next day.  That sensor did take care of the issue.
Though I never spoke to anyone, the website was informative, the prices were as good as anything I saw on the web, and they shipped the exact replacment part quickly with regular emails regarding each order's status.
Highly recommended.  I'll use again if/when I have another issue with my solar pool heater.
