I arrived in Sarasota on July 3rd. I went to the Coldwell Banker office on Siesta Key on the 5th having chosen Sandra LaFlamme to be the realtor on this project from up north, before I even left. She wasn’t available when I dropped in, and instead I talked to a different agent who gave me the obligatory 30 minutes of houses displayed on the flat screen. I left disappointed and felt that had to completely re-strategize. I was in Sarasota to buy a house for my in-laws. I had been given their trust, a modest budget (well OK, small budget) and a short time period to get the job done. I really didn’t want to let them down. Several hours after my failed visit to the realtor office, I received a phone call. It was Sandra. She expressed her apologies for her co-workers brush off and vowed to make amends. Now I have met many assertive, confident and capable people in my life—I played professional baseball, studied under master photographers and worked alongside some of the best in the television industry. This woman blew me away! She identified my needs, located the properties in my area of interest and price point, and delivered many options
to go look at, accompanying me on multiple visits, even climbing fences, in a dress no less. When it came time to make an offer, the deal was done, and the seller signed, within 45 minutes. Then she really got to work. Lining up inspection within 24 hours, following that up with a solid team of contractors from AC to electrical to roofing. I never felt alone in the process. She kept a positive attitude among everyone involved, flowing from the moment she called me through the closing. No easy task when in-laws 1500 miles away are involved. I can’t thank her enough for making this buy a reality and for further strengthening my relationship with my wonderful wife’s parents.
