Overpromises, Underdelivers. You pay a premium to do business with Pampered Movers. For our move, they charged almost $20,000 to pack us up and move us out, then back in. The proposal promises: Pampered Movers can make a major difference in every detail and the protocol requested by you and your insurers as well., making sure they are fully accommodated at all times. The problems began when we moved out of our property, which was being renovated. there were several drawers and cabinets in our kitchen that the packers missed items. I stayed more than an hour packing up what they had left. For the move back in, the problems started in the first hour that they were here. The general manager’s son was in charge of the moving crew, and he did not give good instructions to the crew of which room to send boxes to. Many boxes ended up in the incorrect rooms. He lost his temper, then argued with us about how the boxes were marked (which they had actually packed and marked). It set a bad tone for the rest of our two day move. The company will not commit to how long her staff will stick around to help with unpacking, only to say, “they stay for a full day.” On the first day, only 2 packers were left here after lunch to help us after 3 other crew members said they were going back to load more items on the truck. The 2 packers said they were done for the day at 3 p.m. (they started at 9 a.m.) I expressed my concern that everything would not be completed at the end of the second day, and one of the crew said that 2 more packers would be here tomorrow to help. (That did not happen either.) The next day at 4 p.m., they were ready to go. On the kitchen alone, I spent almost 4 hours the next day getting it in order from boxes that were not unpacked. (See pictures) We were moving out of a temporary condo, and Pat, the salesperson, had said she would make arrangements to pick up the furniture at 9 a.m. She failed to confirm the appointment with the building, so the moving staff came to our house at 9 a.m., then went back to move the furniture in the condo in the middle of the day, then came back to our place. We lost at least an hour of that “the full day” with traffic. When I told Pat that I wanted to speak to her about the issues with the move, she said that she would call me back. To this date, she has not discussed these issues with me. Several items were damaged, including a valuable piece of pottery. Pat offered me $25 for pottery that was valued at more than $300. This is despite the fact that we paid an additional cost of $4,850 to insure high value items with Pampered Movers. Finally, there was additional unpacking that was needed to be done. When I called to schedule the help, Pat told me that it would be more than 3 weeks before she would have someone who could finish this part of our agreement. She did offer $100 to me, which I am still trying to figure out how she came up with this amount, given the high bill that we paid. I spent an additional 3 days unpacking all of the boxes. Pampered Movers tags all of your furniture with bright yellow inventory stickers. The moving crew failed to remove most of these and we spent many weeks discovering these and removing them. Pampered Movers also promises “a 3 hour deep clean on your residence” too. This also did not happen for us. I have moved many times, including several large offices. This was the most expensive and overall worst moving experience that I have been involved in during the past 35 years.
