About us

Mirasol Solar carries on the tradition of providing energy efficient products for the home. With business was originally started by George W. Egglefield in 1959 with the creation of Southern Insulation Co. For over 35 years Southern Insulation provided energy saving alternatives for Sarasota, Charlotte, and Manatee counties. In 1977 Southern Insulation created a Solar Water Heating division, which soon after became known as Mirasol. Scott Egglefield was among the first in the state of Florida to receive the Residential Solar Contractor license in 1980 shortly followed by a state certified plumbing contractor license which enabled Mirasol to be licences to install water heaters, swimming pool heat pumps, and gas heaters. In 1987 Mirasol was approached by FAFCO, the leading manufacturer of solar pool heating panels, and became their exclusive distributor for a five county area. In 2006, Mirasol obtained the state solar contractor license which enabled them to begin installing Photovoltaic (solar electric) systems. Today, Mirasol Solar has over 10,000 solar product customers, and spans three generations of Egglefield’s with Damon Egglefield as the latest addition. Mirasol Solar, among our popular solar energy products also now offers additional products and swimming pool accessories to make life easier, such as pool and spa automation, natural purifiers for pools, solar water heaters, pool cleaners, heat pump pool heaters and gas pool heaters. PVC pipe was not put in properly and sprung a huge leak. Pool was draining water very rapidly. Left 2 emergency messages and never received a call back.

The installation was flawless and professional. That is where my praise ends. I purchased whole home PVC panels, a solar water heater panel, and pool panels. I chose this company based on their assurance that the company would be monitoring my panels to maintain optimal performance. In the 3 years, I have owned solar, I had to call them to report issues. It took 2 years for a technician to arrive to check the status of my system. Since no mechanical default of the solar was noted by the technician, I was charged a service call. John is very rude on the phone. I quote "I don't know why you would be asking about that anyway!" Not one month has my electricity bill shown a refund or the minimal base charge. Yes, my electricity bill has been reduced, but it does not equal the loan payment plus the FPL bill. Followup after the purchase is frustrating and a wild chase. The office will not return calls or emails for days/weeks. My neighbor was jealous after I purchased solar and inquired from this company and several others on quotes. He chose a cheaper company and his output is more resulting in a lowered electricity bill. Now I'm envious of him! This company has a great sales team but don't be fooled. Look elsewhere.

After 10 years of home ownership in Florida, I have had several construction and/or repair jobs from companies that didn't do a good job. But, Mirasol restored my faith. Besides having top rated materials like PV systems from SunPower, they sent a competent crew of Nate, Joe, Eric and an enthusiastic helper. These guys kept to the plan, worked hard for the two and a half days and paid attention to detail with competence and integrity. Their solder joints were strong and neat, the electrical connections done properly and the whole job looked professional. They kept me informed all along the way and made sure I understood the process. The decision makers on the phone with me, Chris and John make it all happen without a wrinkle. Even Brian, the sales rep, was far and away the most knowledgeable and understanding person I had the pleasure to meet out of the other 8 companies I went with before signing with Mirasol. Very pleased with the process and outcome

We had solar pool heating put in by Mirasol and it has proven to require costly repairs and frequent service calls. While their service crews are very nice, their equipment and warranty does not last long. We paid extra for their maintenance contract and have been very disappointed by the extra charges, what is NOT covered, delayed service, broken promises, cost estimates that differed from the invoices sent, etc. They charged outrageous fees to service their own solar panels and would not admit any fault when they leaked and required an expensive roofing job. Their service manager is hard to get hold of and generally not terribly responsive and conveniently "forgot" a conversation and a promise he made. Frankly, I do not recommend them.

Two professional pool experts, Juan and Bruce,arrived as promised and on time. They were not not efficient, friendly, diligent and thorough, they were also humorous and entertaining. Not only was the issue resolved, they made it a positive experience.

They are not the cheapest because they sell good quality products, but they do their best to give you a good price. And their service is the fastest I have found in the business and the job is done right. If you have any problems they honor their warranty and resolve problems quickly. I cannot stress how important honoring warranty is. Not all companies are quick at taking care of warranted equipment. I highly recommend this company. Be clear about what you need and they will take good care of you.

Went very well from initial sales meeting to post installation follow up. They were more expensive than another quote I received but after much research I felt the higher quality of product made it a better value. Everything was done on time and they also showed me how I had an incorrect setting on an unrelated valve and got that corrected. There was a very minor issue with the installation that they corrected quickly and without hassle after I called them. Happy I went with them and would definitely go with them for solar pool heating again.

Everything was fine. They're wonderful people to deal with. I realized that the attic fan caused a roof leak but I called the service provider, they came out and took a look at it. There were no questions asked, admitted it was an error on their end and fixed the issue.

The warranty service appeared to have gone OK.  (Although I'm again replacing one of the units they replaced, though I can't be sure the problem was due to their installation.) At the time of the warranty service they recommended some further work on my system. 
I asked them to provide me with a quote to do so.  They did not return repeated requests to schedule an inspection preparatory to giving me a quote.
I've changed vendors.

Mirasol completed the work within set dates to meet the Duke Energy constraints and guidelines.  The Pinellas county building and electrical inspections passed the first time and the Electrical inspector commented on the neatness and the professionalism of this installation.  While on site each worker for Mirasol was very polite and worked very hard each day.  In summary if and when an issue might arise I feel confident this company will be available to resolve.  It is a good feeling to know they value workmanship and are dedicated to their industry.

The president of the company did the estimate and oversaw the project. 
They were able to get us 12 month interest free financing.
The new system works great and we really like having the pool warm enough to
use in the winter.  Also the Variable speed pump runs at very low power
when we are away for the summer months and saves on our electric bill.
They did just what we wanted. 
We had an equipment failure.  A diverting valve motor failed after
about 10 months.  The president came by and within 2 days they had been
here and replaced the motor........and no charge.
We recommend them.

The salesman showed up on time and was very pleasant, even sending us a Christmas card.  Although we did not want a solar attic fan, there was a special offer that gave us the $1500 dollar attic fan for free after a paperwork refund, and then we were able to apply for an energy credit on our taxes of $400.  The installation also included a solar pool blanket and the pipes on the roof were painted the same color as the roof.
We were concerned about the solar panels overheating in the summer, when not in use, , and the salesman reassured us they would drain when not in use.  They were installed without the drain down feature, but the installer told us there would be no damage done by leaving water in them all summer.  I am finishing this review a year after installation.  We found we like our water quite warm so we used the solar system most of the summer.  One point it took us a long time to figure out is that the Solar Touch Control (turns solar on and off automatically as required by thermostat setting) over rides the Intelliflow pump timer.  Our sensor is not located right next to the panels, so at times the sun hits it and not the panels, causing the pump to come on then shut off because the water temperature sensor realizes the water in the panels in not hot enough to be used.
I perform most of my correspondence via email and have found the salesman and company to be non responsive.

They did great work on doing new electrical, installing panels and provided a very high degree of personalized service. The owner of MIRASOL contacted me about his company's recent work and my review. We had a very pleasant conversation. No excuses were made for the experience, but I was assured that discussions were held with employees about customer communications. It was an opportunity for improvement. The project cost was lowered by $150 and a maintenance contract for 2 years was offered.

We purchased solar PV from Mirasol, contingent on obtaining FPL rebate.  They assisted in the application.  The entire transaction was transparent:  everything Mirasol promised was delivered in a timely fashion.  I waited to write this review until we received our first fully solar power bill of zero.  Damon conducted the installation and followed through with support afterward. This was one of the most pleasant home vendor experiences we have had.
