About us
As a designer, it is my goal to work on the interiors of home projects for people that want to add style to their home, using many of the things they already possess. A unique combination of an interior design degree, a do-it-yourself approach and 20+ years experience allows the process to be in the hands of the homeowner, much more than the traditional design process. Initial Consultation Fee starts at $225.00 for 3 hours - when you mention you found me on Angie's List! Initial meeting includes: evaluation, starting concepts and "map" with suggestions on how to proceed. Specialize in color selection for interiors and exteriors.

We went in with broad design goals, a flexible budget, and no time pressure, so we felt that we were giving the project a chance. But our first effort to actually organize it was to hire Janet, and that was our best decision. She brought in the contracting team, found vendors, discussed our craziest requests, and of course provided design ideas. Everyone tried to talk us out of soapstone counters, but Janet helped us find a source, pick a product, lay out the design. She helped immensely with logistics: deliveries, staging, storage, meetings. Although we were 1200 miles away and on-site at best bi-monthly, collaboration was so easy the overall design seemed to take care of itself. Two of the attached pictures show typical design details she provided: blinds and cornices for the tricky lanai windows (they're 8' tall and meet in the corner with no extra space), and fold-out hooks for the shower (interspersed with matching metal tiles, set in marble wall tile). We could not be happier with the outcome.

Janet helped to redesign and decorate our home which we bought used. The home needed a lot of attention and she led us in our journey of picking out colors for the interior and exterior of our home. She helped with floor covering, furniture, wall hangings and made our home so comfortable and beautiful that we never want to leave! She is creative and extremely easy to work with and was very respectful of our budget.

After having a new kitchen installed, we were lost. Janet to the rescue.. She provided paint colors and samples, room design ideas, window treatment colors, fireplace rebuild ideas... on and on. She had paint samples for living room, family room, hallway, ceilings. etc. She also recommended the new fan that looks fabulous.
Bottom line - the new paint colors and drapes and rods etc. have totally changed the house. Janet's designs added height and space and color to the family room and breakfast area. Her colors in the hallway made the area 'pop'. Our house looks like a model home design now. Her secret drapery tip saved us at least $500, too :)
At first I was a little nervous about the colors... We decided to let Janet be the boss and just went with whatever she advised... So glad we did that, thank you so much Janet :)) We could not have done it on our own.

Janet coordinated with our upholsterer and handled all of the details, delivery, etc. Our patio is truly one of a kind now!
We will definitely be using her again in the near future for other projects to keep our home updated and fresh.

Janet turned an old style, tired condo into a beautiful and elegant one with colorful carpets and comfortable and appropriately sized furniture (not easy for a condo with relatively small rooms).
By use of different colored walls, baseboards and doors that matched the new furniture, she was able to turn even an awkward L-shaped great room into a multi-functional room.
Little things like brushed nickel fold down hat hooks in the entryway and pullout clothes drying rack in the master bath (for my bicycle and workout gear) adds to the elegance and functionality.
Everyone that walks into the condo comments about how perfectly all the furniture matches with the carpets and colors, and how stunning the place looks. When I tell them how much some of the furniture cost, they are incredulous. Janet was able to find incredible bargains that more than paid for her fee. She was able to do the entire job while being relatively frugal.
Not only would I use her services again, I will be doing so shortly in the Spring of 2015 for another condo that I recently purchased.
