We got them to come over and evaluate the unit. I live in a 5 year old house so the unit was original. They found one electrical problem when they did their initial evaluation. They fixed it at a very reasonable price. We had not trouble with that component since then, Other than that we use them for our regular twice a year service. The line that drips the condensation out got stopped up so they came over and fixed that.

The unit exploded and they have been terrible. They are rude, unresponsive and do poor work.  I had to hire someone else to replace the unit while it was still under warrenty.  I do not recommend them.
Response from Gary Air
"It is always a tough call to stop services on a customer for various reasons that we don't need to mention. Unfortunately when something like this happens posts like this one are generated and everyone loses because of that. This unit was under a manufacturer's warranty and any qualified contractor could have submitted any problem part for any warranties available. We wish these folks well with the new company that they chose to service their AC needs."

We had a leak from our air-conditioning with damage to our ceiling roof in our kitchen. We live in a 3 story town home. We had installed the unit in 2010. Gary air did the installation and also services a second home we have as a rental. Our relationship with Gary Christopher the owner over the years has been very good. He has been courteous and professional. We called them and they quickly sent someone over. The young man was pleasant and indicated that the unit was probably still under warranty but the labor was not. He checked the outside unit briefly visually. He told me there was no leak and indicated he flushed the draining pipe even though it appeared to be draining. He then brought the tool to check for leaking in the inside coils. What was odd is that his tool was beeping from the 1st floor, the unit is on the third floor. He said it was very sensitive. I asked what I owed ,he said not to pay him until he figured out what the warranty covered. Fortunately my contractor for USAA was present as this took place. I called their office later as I did not hear from them. Ms Christopher another of the owners answered. I asked what the cost would be for the labor and what the warranty covered.  She began to rant why I had refused to pay for the service call. I explained what her employee said, she went on to say that he said I yelled became combative and refused to pay. I explained to her that a service call fee was not requested and told her her employee lied. She hung up the phone. I called back and was told that for this conversation to continue I would have to pay over the phone. Having my unit under warranty with them, the house at 90 degrees,a 21 year old dog and the weekend coming up I had limited options. Ms Christopher was short, rude and condescending. They sent a second technician out the next day who honestly did a good job and behaved well. He noticed they the previous technician cut the draining pipe outside instead of flushing it. He also mentioned that the only way to check for a leak in the outside unit was to remove the top which was not done. Based on the behavior from the 1st technician and Ms Christopher I have no way of knowing if it was just a cracked pan or the coil was actually leaking. When employees lie and owners behave inappropriately with established customers you question their honesty. The air is working like it should, but I would never use or recommend them. Fortunately we had our contractor here to witness this event. Otherwise it would be he said , she said. I apologize for this long explanation, but customers need to stay away from this company. Thank you

The two installers showed up on time and did a really good job. Our recently installed replacement 5 ton Central Air Conditioner was not able to provide enough cooling to our bedroom because the bedroom was very far from the air handler in our garage. Because of this, we had been running our central air at 72 degrees day and night causing the system to run 24/7. This caused our electric bill to be way too high and would have shortened the life of the system, Now we set the central air at 78 during the day and 82 at night and the bedroom unit for 72 at night. Mini split ductless units are more efficient than central air units as they use inverter technology. We expect our total electric bill to be much lower from here on.

2 other companies told me the part was not covered under warranty, but I chose to get another estimate, especially wehn one company was scaring me into buying an entire new unit.
Gary Air did research and found out the part was still under warranty, then did an excellent job of the repair work... The person was professional and puncutal and the work was completed properly.
Gary Air saved me a lot of money on the part.... plus they are extremely reliable.....
... Since then I have used them for annual maintenance of my unit... they are on time and very honest... they won't sell you something you don't need.
I hghly recommend them... the are GREAT

I live in Md., my elderly Mom lives in Sarasora, Florida.
Her regular service Company told her she needed a new air conditoner, and it would cost 4,500.00.
Since the unit was not that old, I was skeptical.  I called Gary Air, and they were able to fix it by putting in freeon and the entire
cost was 165.00.  They did a good job, thanks, LS
Response from Gary Air
"Hi (member name removed), Thank you for commiting your valuable time to write such a warm letter in regards to your service call for your mom. We are a full service AC company with a crew of Service, Maintenence, and Installtions Technicians who appreciate the fact that helping people is a few notches above earning an income. They realize that if they do a superior job to the customer, that can translate into being able to serve quality people, like yourself, and continue to grow their future with a review like the one you wrote. In my eyes it is the only way to do business. Sincerely, Gary Christopher Owner-Gary Air"

The service before purchase, during installation and the immediate folow-up was excellent. This company really seems to care about their customer and about getting it right the first time. I did not originally see them on Angie's but they came recommended from someone we trusted. I spoke mostly with Bob Thurber via phone. He asked a lot of questions and made his recommendations and gave sound reasons for each. Their price was in line with other quotes. Some things like the corosion grenade and teflon coating were explained but not "pushed". (Even though they added $300 to the cost I decided they were worthwhile for my location.) I had a very tight deadline for installation and we were talking about installation one week away. The installation date also fell at the same time Bob was going to be on vacation. Bob assured me the installers would be at my place on time even though he would be gone. The two installers showed up promptly, were professional, friendly and worked effeciently in tight space. While they were working I talked with them and found out that the lead installer had been with Gary's Air for over five years and the other installer for two years and were very happy with their company. They took time to explain how to maintain everything, what the important parts were and how they worked. As soon as Bob returned from vacation he called to make sure that everything went as planned. Good installation job and service with competent and caring people.

The air is cool again with the correct motor. I must admit they did get the "fill in for now" motor in right away so at least I stayed cool although the motor was so loud I had to sleep in another room
Response from Gary Air
"As the owner of Gary Air I really appreciate Member response to Angies List. It appeares that we performed almost as expected. Unfortunately we were at the mercy of the manufacturer for a very expensive warranty motor that not even the distributor keeps in stock. These variable speed motors do exactly what they were designed to do, remove moisture, stay quiet and save energy. Also they are vary reliable. If the standard motor we put in to get Member comfortable until the motor came in would have worked like the variable speed motor then there wouldn't be any need to switch them out. Also we gave Member a no charge professional cleaning on his air conditioning unit thanking him and every new customer for calling us. This service is valued at $69.95. It is difficult to explain how we come up with the repair cost and how much it does cost us to run an air conditioning company. Our fees are enormous, the prices we pay for the products we often think are unfair but the best we can do is deal with it and offer our customers excellant, reliable service. We at Gary Air hope Member doesn't ever have any problems with his air conditioning unit.t However the fact is that they are a mechanical device prone to failing and if it does happen again maybe Member will forget about the cost of the repair he made and remember the quality of service that we demand he receives. Sincerely, Gary Christopher Owner Gary Air"

I was in a panic because I had a carpet cleaner coming the same day and didn't want him to have to do the job without air-conditioning.  I called Gary Air and his wife Diana answered.  She was extremely helpful walking me through all the things I should check first before having a service call...examining thermostat and fuse box.  When it was determined that neither one of these things was the problem she said she could have someone here in 45 minutes.  This was great!  Gary himself came, unscrewed the "connector" box and found the bug immediately.  Also, I needed over a pound of freon.  He was efficient, personable, and reasonable with the cost.  A great experience!!!  I paid $110 for the service call, $50 for the freon, and am being given a "buy back" (no charge) on an annual cleaning and check-up because I was new to the area and I have sceduled it for tomorrow.  IF ONLY ALL SERVICES WERE LIKE THIS!!!  I will definitely have them do my A/C work in the future!!!
